TERRIBLE!! STAY AWAY!! Our family purchased an item that they had to order (not one mention of it being a custom order). Once we got it home, it was determined the new fireplace wouldn't work for our space and we had to return it. They are charging a 20% restocking fee!!! Never once did they say anything about it being a "custom order/20% restocking fee." I tried to understand why the restocking fee; they said it was to mail the fireplace back. WAIT!!?? It's going to cost them $500 to mail it back to the manufacturer?? I offered to pay the shipping to return it to the manufacturer if that was the issue. They weren't interested in that; they want to collect their $500 "RESTOCKING FEE." We have done a lot of business with this place in the past. In fact, this past Spring, we purchased a large chimenea that is already cracked straight up the middle. It's ready for the trash. This place sure has gone downhill over the last 5 years that we've made purchases with them. read more

Terrible experience. Lost our order and when they finally got it there was a broken log. Did they call and tell us? No. Left a message for the sales guy. Twice. Finally walked in the store in person but there was no one who could help me. After two months (and a pretty big fit on my part) the manager told me they were waiting for the broken log to be replaced and didn't know when they'd get it, but they could go ahead and install without it. It goes on from there. Very long story short- it was one of the poorest examples of customer experience I've ever had. Would not return to them for future business. read more

I was really satisfied with the entire experience here. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They gave me really good advice, which probably ended up saving me $8000 considering my very old chimney required some code updates. Most of the other retail outlets that we visited seemed to be pushing very hard for the most expensive options without concern for what we wanted in a fireplace. I wish I could write a glowing review, yet unfortunately I can't. The purchasing experience was by far the most pleasant part of the overall fireplace acquisition. Friendly, attentive, and patient as I decided what I wanted, (which actually took weeks), so for that, I give my Salesperson kudos. However, this is where the customer service ended. In fact, everything ended. I did not hear from the company again, until the man who was to install the fireplace called nearly 2 months later to say he checked with O'Malia's and the fireplace had not arrived yet. I left a few messages for my Salesperson; no reply. Finally called and wanted to speak to a Manager, but the person I spoke to said he would contact my Salesperson and have him call me. Only then did I receive a call. My Salesperson had no idea where the fireplace was. After some research it was discovered it had not been shipped from the factory and it would be another few weeks. The dream was to have the fireplace installed by Christmas (was suppose to be ordered in Oct). Finally, mid-January my fireplace is installed. Not any follow-up from O'Malia's to see how the product is working. Would not recommend based on my experience. read more

Omalias On Nov. 3 I had a chimney sweep and had "rocks" added to my gas fireplace in our newly purchased home.The guy did a presumably great job and I paid him $218 by check upon completion. A few hours later I remembered I neglected to ask him about the presence of a damper clip. I called the store with my inquiry and they sent the same guy back and he apologized for not mentioning the lack of a damper clip.He then installed one and told me it was an additional fee of $10. Today I received an invoice of $218. I immediately called again and spoke with Steve, the manager. I reviewed my experience and he stated something about invoices are done on the day of service. I then shared with him my invoice was dated two weeks after the service was performed. He apologized for not meeting my expectations and stated he would look further into it. Within the 1/2 hour Scott called and stated I was paid in full, which of course I already knew. While I appreciate the apologies I do not appreciate the time this situation has taken. Everyone has been extremely courteous. However, in my opinion, something is obviously awry with this company despite their longstanding good reputation in the Carmel community. read more

This was my first experience with O'Malia's, we were having problems with our fireplace lighting, the technician was right on time and did a great job. He found the issue and fix it quickly then cleaned and serviced the whole fireplace, cleaning the glass, the logs, the thermocouple, and added new mineral wool. The fire place looks better than it ever has! The only reason I can't give five stars is that I booked the appointment over a month ago and when I mentioned it the technician said they are booking appointments for mid January now, I will remember to get it serviced in the summer from now on. read more

We were having trouble lighting our gas logs in our fireplace and then when the did light, they would blow out after a few minutes. After reading so many posts online about people wIth the same problem needing to replace the thermocouplers and or the whole log set (our is 20 years old) I reluctantly called to have them looked at, knowing I could be into upwards of $800 for a new set. Mike, the technician, simply asked me if I liked having the pilot light. I actually don't and had been lighting it with a match anyway. He was able to completely remove the (very ugly!!) pilot light situation altogether and then cleaned and repositioned the logs, added rock to the base, and then had me watch while he manipulated the flame to my liking. I'm sooooooooo happy!! My expectations were greatly exceeded and the fire is now so much warmer and prettier than I had imagined it could be! DAY MADE!!!! Thank you Mike!!! read more

Completely shocked at the Customer Service at O'Malia's. As someone who leads a company specializing in Customer Service O'Malia's is in my experience an example of bad management. They have come to our house to service our fireplace on 3 occasions and have yet to fix it. Each time after discovering nothing was fixed they simply state, "The tech we sent does not specialize in the fireplace." They have bad records of when they have come to do service calls (Didn't even have us in record as coming out a week ago for their last service call), continue to place us on a 2-3 week waiting list to come out to do repairs they didn't do last week, the manager called my wife a horrible customer on the phone after the receptionist hung up on my wife when she insisted they come within a week of their last service call rather than placing us on another waiting list (My wife was not loud or aggressive at all), and gave excuses that they are understaffed with only 2 repair men (who apparently aren't qualified). I'm sure we aren't the only ones with the same experience so I'm leaving this here as a warning to those who prefer a company that values their customers because my wife and I are left to realize that O'Malia's does not. read more

Great find! I would say hidden jem, but since they have been around for decades... very laid back atmosphere, professional staff and installers, and an awesome selection of products! Their products are head and shoulders above the 'competition,' if you want to call it that, because in this market, they really have no equal. On Dec 5 I had our huge masonry 100+ year, three story chimney cleaned. The tech (Bradon or Brandon) did a fantastic job. He was thorough in removing not just the usual creosote build-up but also a clump that had formed in the bend of the chimney and firebox. He was very careful to keep things clean and tidy.
