Big Bro and I were going to have a late lunch and a beer at O'Leavers. We've been checking out dive bars and this one truly is. I looked online to see what the menu was like and it was typical dive bar food. We walked in to an exceedingly dark space. We were trying to find a seat when the bartender asked a question I couldn't hear. Big Bro replied we wanted to eat and have a beer. That's when we found out that despite pictures and menus of food offerings listed online, O'Leaver's does not serve food any more. However, we could eat at the Mexican restaurant next door. So that's what we did. It would be an excellent idea for O'Leaver's to revamp their online presence to reflect the absence of food. read more

I really enjoyed this place! It's super close to my house and I've driven by a million times but never stopped in. What a fun little dive bar, with live music and good people. But what really hooked me was the beer garden! It's fully walled in so you can't see it from the street so I would have never guessed! It's awesome back there! Well lit, decorated and full of greenery, tvs, another bar... so perfect! I'm a sucker for outdoor spots so this is on my list now for regular haunts. The bartenders were friendly and easygoing. I play sand volleyball with them in the spring and the courts are great! The sand is wonderful. They keep it pretty nice my kids even come and play in the sand. There is an outdoor bar as well. I order their burger almost every time my kids love it and I do too. Probably one of my favorite seasoned burgers in town. read more

oleavers has an awesome beer garden. just make sure you opinion doesn't go against the owners. I was going there for several years and even let the bartenders choose what I tipped. one night there was a band and on stage so as I left I flipped them off because they were horribl, I am an accomplished drummer and know good and and bad and the others that are really trying, because I later found out it was a trans band I was banned for life. I have asked to see if the ban was lifted just i could refuse their service. Also, a week after I was banned my friend was shot at the bar. Do these things make it the best dump in Omaha? HELL TO THE YES. I mean, srsly folks, if you've got a problem with sticky arm rests and loud rock and roll, then you are not wanted at this bar. Go back to your split-level and enjoy a nice Appletini. O'Leaver's lived up to my every expectation. The whole place comes with a filthy feeling, smell, look and attitude. I was just as afraid to touch parts of the inside as I anticipated I would be, and it's essentially just a dump. That being said, it's a kitschy dump with record-covers utilized for wall-paper, and they host lesser-known local bands, which is why I ended up there only once after over 4 years of living within walking distance. Their sand volleyball offerings are much more acceptable, since you don't have to set foot in the building, but after that one adventure I absolutely plan on going back to pretending that this isn't even a bar option for me. I obviously don't like dives though, so if you're into questionable indoor air quality, places that are good candidates for mold remediation, and restrooms that smell slightly of urine/strongly of sewer gas... be my guest. You've been fairly warned though. read more

Sometimes it's hard to find a place to chill at on a Saturday night...but my boyfriend and I found the perfect spot...O'Leaver's Pub! We have always passed this place on our drive home but have never stopped by, until today :) This place is located right next to the restaurant Modern Love (which we gotta try!) on Saddle Creek. The drinks are not that pricey and the bar tenders are super friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed the album covers on the walls and the white Christmas lights. The giant posters of Princess Leia and a storm trooper on the men and women bathroom doors were pretty awesome as well. Although it got pretty packed because there were a few bands playing, I gotta say, we had a fantastic time! Worth coming again :) read more

This is a bar where I play sand volleyball. It's a fun place. The inside, however, is a total dive. The decor consists of pleather chairs circa 1970, some with stuffing hanging out. The walls are decorated with old record album covers. I honestly don't think the floor has been vacuumed for at least 10 years...but this adds to the "charm" you'll find. The bathrooms are also completely trashed, graffiti-ed, and kind of scary. What O'Leaver's doesn't have in atmosphere they make up for with cheap beer and sand volleyball. They also have live bands perform there. However, the inside is so small, it doesn't accommodate very many people. read more

O'leaver's is my go-to spot for a reason. You really can't get better than here for expanding your horizon with awesome local music and touring bands. It's the perfect size to get up close and personal with the bands before, during, and after the show to let them know your appreciation. Besides that, their drink prices are some of the best out there, and who doesn't like getting tipsy on the cheap? $1 PBRs and High Lifes from 3:30-8:00pm daily, and great daily drink specials as well. (Try the Thursday special - a can of Hamm's and a shot of Uncle Bananas - O'leaver's' proprietary blend - for only $3.) Also, as many other reviews have stated, the back patio - with it's own bar on events and weekends - is unexpected walking in the door but absolutely breathtaking. Gorgeously landscaped, shaded and cool, a perfect summer weekend paradise. Volleyball is a huge draw for many, as well as the private karaoke room in the basement, both with separate bars available. Can't recommend O'leaver's enough for those who appreciate a good divey atmosphere, or those who want to soak up the sun on a blissful patio! See you there! read more

O'leaver's is the kind of place you just have to go experience for yourself to understand what everyone is raving about. (& I recommend that you do just that.) The interior is kind of small, especially if it's a really busy night, but it feels less like a crowded dive bar & more like an intimate Omaha scene where (for the most part) everyone's just happy to be. The beer garden out back is definitely my favorite aspect of the bar/venue. If the weather is nice & the crowd size is large enough, they have a full bar outside that they'll stick a bartender behind. This is especially nice if the crowd inside is too thick to easily order a drink. The "garden" has an enormous sitting & lounging area all beneath draped soft-white lights & enclosed on all sides, creating the illusion that you're secluded from the bustling side streets & the noise of the city. They also have an impressive list of bands that have played on their small but efficient stage. read more

This bar smells horrible. The seats, the floor, the walls.. they're sticky. The juke box is ridiculous, it's got so much good music on it. The live bands are always awesome. The alls are riddled with album covers of bands that are iconic. The "regulars" don't want you there just like they don't want you to let any of that darn sun in when you open the door to enter. I'm suprised the don't hiss. The house shot? Rumpleminz. Yup. And the bartender will probably snarl and growl at you. it's cheap, and if you don't like it, get the hell out. Dear O'leaver's Pub... O'Leavers has long been a favorite of mine. Nice and cozy. Kind of small and dark. Back in the day, I was in a volleyball league. I would have a couple of Foster's and bump, set, spike my Thursday away. When the food side of O'leaver's made way for Modern Love I was more than excited. Grabbing some wine or a drink before heading next door for grub was pretty ok. Let's get to the awesome ok? Happy hour: Monday-Friday. 3:30pm until 8pm. Not some sissy ass 3 hours, but 4.5. The kicker and deal maker for me is during that time a pint of PBR is $1. No minimum. I reckon no maximum either. read more

This was by far the scariest bar I have ever been to. The place reeked of vomit (and not in the bathroom either-which I was too scared to even think about going in), the crowd was none to friendly, and the bartender kept switching back and forth between a normal volume tv and really loud music which he would then switch in the middle of a song. So once you get use to one volume, you have to ajust again. I will never step foot anywhere near this bar again. It reminds me of a scuzzy college guys' basment, and it kind of makes me wonder if the health inspector has ever checked this place out... read more

O'Leaver's Pub is one of those places you just expect to be dirty and loud. Still, it's got such character to it that there's really no other place like it on Earth. There's a vibe to "The Club" that is hard-lined, edgy and even arrogant on the outside, but warm and welcoming on the inside. O'Leaver's also contradicts itself. Is it a gritty rock club full of greasy dudes swilling cheap beer? Yep. Is it a place to go play volleyball with your yuppie pals after a hard day of white collar work? Yep. Is it a place to hang out with other sad-sack drunks and watch the World Series, World Cup Soccer or a Husker game? Yep. Did they take out the pool table in the back room to put in a tiki bar that people hardly use? Yep. I don't know what it is about O'Leaver's, but it's perfect just the way it is. read more

O'Leavers Pub is a fantastic joint, to rock in and get rocked in! I have played at O'Leavers at least 5 times and I think every time I left feeling like I had one of the funnest nights of my life! The bartenders always rule! The jukebox is packed with good jams (Astral Weeks, ELO) They put Ice in the Urinals They have records on the wallls. It's loud It's Divey and you know what It's kinda perfect! This is what I would consider a townies bar, if your just going to have some drinks, and watch a band you have never heard of this is your spot! O'Leavers is small and cozy...in a dirty floors, broken chairs, grimy tables kinda way. My favorite kind of small venue. Not the best bar service- you'll probably wait a while for anyone to even acknowledge your existence but you could find that anywhere. First off, my rating is a preference. I love O'leavers. It is small, the stage area is crowded, it is divey... and those are some of the strong points. The music is great, they have a tiki bar area and there is a good restaurant next door. What else do you need? Highly recommend, especially if you want to catch some live music in an intimate environment. If you are looking for glitz and glamour... don't bother. Plus they make a damn good Old Fashioned. Super dark bar with a bit of a smell. The bartender refused to serve anybody, even the regulars until Jeopardy was over. One of the regulars asked for a shot, and the bartender rudely said "yeah, maybe when Jeopardy is over". He didn't even turn his head to look at the customers. I haven't actually been inside O'Leavers so my review is strictly of the summer volleyball league and the adjoining outdoor bar. I signed up for the summer volleyball league with a few coworkers and have been more than impressed. I was expecting a disorganized bro drunk-fest but have actually been pleasantly surprised with both the organization and the atmosphere. That is to say, O'Leavers is fairly hands-off in their approach, but there are plenty of staff around should issues arise and they've always been more than friendly. The bar outside is ok - a few domestic, non-craft beer options is about it, which is a bit of a bummer, but not a dealbreaker. Overall, a great spot for this fun summer activity and O'Leavers does a great job with it! read more

Great new addition with the beer garden, but worst service in midtown. Unacceptable. Bartender ignored new customers to serve friends first, smoked cigarettes instead of making drinks. Hope to see better next time. read more
