We have been going there (Harvard store) for a few years since our favorite pizza place closed. On most days it's excellent but once in a while it's poor because it's over cooked. Hit and miss. The soda dispenser ice maker is broken for several months and they are out of one or more selections almost every visit. This is our go-to place for pizza within 10 miles of 51st and Harvard. I have to agree to a little inconsistency, but they continue to out do the competition. Each pizza is unique in its own right and not comparable to one another. So, no.. Nyc pizza is not like andolinis. NYC Pizza isn't chain pizza and knocks it out of the park when it comes to a really decent Friday night Pie that isn't cookie cutter or chain. To me the pizza was a cross between sbarro and pie hole. This 5 star review is relative: Is this the best pizza you will ever eat? No. Is this the best pizza in Tulsa? That's subjective to your pizza preferences. Is this really "NYC style" and is it the best "NYC style" pizza in Tulsa? Definitely. I was born in NY and spent 35+ years living in NY and Chicago. Pizza is also my favorite meal. Therefore, I think I have pretty good informal credentials on the subject matter. I think the best compliment I can give this place (being in Tulsa) is that if you brought this home to me in NY from a "new place" I don't think I would have batted an eye that it was genuine. I understand why most of you natives feel the need to put ranch dressing on your pizzas - its because you don't really have good pizza and feel the need to mask the flavor with something else. We went to Andolini's in Broken Arrow once and the pizza was pretty good. Though the service was bad and a little pricey. Our "everyday" pizza here in Tulsa is Costco or Sam's club. While it isn't amazing, it is better than the chains (Little Caesars, Mazzios, Dominos, etc) and a rough approximation of NY style pizza. At about $10 for a combo or meat pie it really is the best value for the money while feeling like something that didn't come out of a frozen box. For the amount of pizza we eat on a monthly basis I can't really justifying paying $20+ for a 2 topping 16" pie every time (what NYC Pizza costs). But when I'm willing to treat myself and have a taste of the "old country" as it were, I will definitely be going back to NYC pizza. read more

I'm a Southern boy from Louisiana...I went on a trip to NYC and had a pizza slice from there and absolutely loved it then and to have a slice of pizza 20-25 years later that took me back to that time was absolutely phenomenal...big slices, fold the pizza in half and greasy...staples of a good pizza is the taste, the greasiness and the quality of the food which this company hit on all marks. There is another restaurant in town that used to hold this title but when the owner retired, they quickly went downhill. When I say New York style I mean the thin crust pizza with slices that are big enough to fold and eat. Also good are the garlic knots and the white pizza is also very good. The main complaint I have about NYC pizza is very telling: for the life of me, on a Friday night I cannot get a pizza delivered because they are so overloaded with orders. It's easily one of the best places in town for pizza and I would while heatedly recommended of to anyone. The pizza is quite well done, and the toppings manage to be deliciously salty without skyrocketing your blood pressure (unless you just really really like pepperoni). They consistently produce high quality pizza that doesn't break the bank. If you do like pepperoni, get the pepperoni twist, my family calls them pepperoni cinnamon rolls (no actual cinnamon, just a metaphore) and just devour them. Lots of pepperoni and cheese rolled up and baked to golden brown. Mmmm. They do have cannoli which are quite good but maybe a bit too sweet, if you like sweet have at it, if you get a racing heart after a couple of oreos... Maybe just a bite. All in all, in an age where chain pizza places have sprouted everywhere like unwelcome weeds it's a relief to find somewhere that doesn't try to distract you with flashy deals and celebrity endorsements and quipy slogans from what really matters. So, I can't really say I know firsthand what authentic New York City pizza tastes like but both my step mom and future in-laws grew up in Brooklyn and they say this is as authentic as it gets! The folks who run it are real New Yorkers so don't expect much in terms of down home Oklahoma friendliness. That's not to say that they are unfriendly though... they simply take a "matter of fact" approach to their customers. The interior is understated but I recommend dining in rather than delivery or pickup. This pizza lives up to its billing ONLY when consumed right out of the oven! If Pizza Hut, Mazzio's, Papa John's is your thing, this may not be for you.
