Unfortunately, I really did like this place as one of the guys that works there is so nice with my young daughter. Yesterday, my daughter got this lady and after the experience, we will not be returning. It was clear from the beginning she wanted nothing to do with a kid. My daughter is very good and patient when getting her nails done and I could understand the lady's attitude if she wasn't used to getting her nails done. How a woman could be such an absolute b to a child is unfathomable and I hope she seeks happiness before she ruins other people's experiences read more

This is my new go to nail place. In fact, before going here, I mostly did my own nails and rarely got a manicure here and there, but they've converted me into a regular! The staff are all super friendly and personable. I haven't really had an issue getting an appointment (for dip powder) before because I'll call at least a few days before (though I once called a few hours before and they were able to fit me in for the last appointment of the day.) They do take walk-ins if they have availabilities, but calling would definitely be the way to go since appointments appear to be the main way to ensure you can get your nails done. The establishment is clean and comfortable. The hours are super accommodating of different schedules. My favorite thing (other than the amazing people- as I said- they're super nice and make you want to be a loyal customer) is the affordable price range. Getting your nails done is definitely a luxury, and their price ranges don't break the bank like other salons can. My nails always come away looking shiny and beautiful, lasting for a long time, and feel stronger and sturdier than normal. I would definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

Very fast but great nail job with gel and dip nails. Very kind and helpful and a cute dog.

Had a gel polish today with a great experience at NY nails. Implements were sterile and a new nail file was used also. The salon is clean, the staff friendly. They charged were almost half of the other salons in the area. I had a bad experience with the salon on Bannerman, the tech didn't have sterilized equipment, the file was old and ragged causing a cut on the side of my finger which took a week to heal. The top coat wrinkled so I had to have him redo the entire gel polish. The gels lifted after 4 days. Supposedly I went to one of the top two techs. I also went to the salon in Kerry Forest. The polish turned a different color in 3 days! They redid it with no charge. I then used another tech who told me to have dip done, it was so thick and looked liked sparkles were under the top coat charge-$60 more! Tried a third tech, the gel lifted after 5 days. I finally gave up on that salon and by chance stopped in NY nails! NY nails is my new find in Tallahassee! read more

I enjoy trying various nail salons to see who has the best massage chairs, ambiance, and foot massages. Eric was my nail tech and gave a calf and foot massage good enough to elicit a response resulting in chills from the bottom of my scalp upward. Complimentary soda and water are offered. I ended my walk-in visit with a manicure. John started this out, but Eric finished it off. Eric and John were fun to chat, which helps me look forward to returning. read more

Initial Impression Although there were no recent reviews, I decided to take a chance on visiting LA Nails to get a manicure and a pedicure. It was close to the location where I was staying; I'm from the Jacksonville area. To begin with, the salon is attractive and clean and the sound system played very pleasant, peaceful music. I went on a Saturday morning, around 11 o'clock or so, and there were only two people having their nails done when I came in. Only one other person came in, a gentleman, during the time that I was there. A young man did my pedicure and manicure. He was quiet, but pleasant and smiled frequently. The Nails For my pedicure, my nails were unevenly trimmed and shaped and as a result, not as attractive as they could have been had they been done correctly. On the pinky toe on my left foot, I tend to have a callus that can easily be buffed off, but it wasn't. I wanted a simple manicure and after reading the brochure that showed that you were to receive a trim, file, cuticle clean, and polish, that is what I expected. That's my understanding of a simple manicure. My attendant asked about trimming my nails and I said "yes" I did want a "little" trim. I did not realize until he had cut off two of my nails that he trimmed them down almost to their base. Heavens! At that point my nails would have looked awful to leave the rest of the nails alone (I already had one broken nail), so I allowed him to continue cutting all my fingernails, right-down-to-the-base. I have large hands and I need oval-shaped, medium nails to maintain a nice, feminine appearance. Well, that wasn't what I got. As far as the polish that I should have received goes, I received one coat of clear. I would have protested and asked for a complete polish job, but by then I was quite ready to go. I was not offered a place to dry my pedicure, water or anything else. I stopped at a store before I went home but once I got home, I did an inspection. The base of my feet and heels were rough and dry, the way they would look if you had forgotten to put on lotion for the last three weeks... and they looked nothing like I had had a pedicure an hour before. I am not a person who gets manicures and pedicures regularly. But those that I have had were worth the visits, except for one place where I got a fungus that took years to resolve. In fact, that's why I don't go get manicures and pedicures often. But, every now and then, you want to do a little extra for yourself and I have been under a great deal of stress, being a caregiver for a terminally relative. The Bottom Line I did not receive a good manicure or pedicure and I am not happy with the quality of the service that I received at NY Nails. I could have done this at home and would have done a better job. Another thing I disliked is that during checkout, in you are inevitably asked to leave a tip, which frankly I have no issues with generally, I do have an issue when the register indicates the type of tip you should leave STARTING at 20% and going up from there! Let's just say, that that is the last time that NY Nails will see me, my nails or my money again. read more

Best pedicure I have ever had mostly because of the amazing massage my feet and legs got! Seriously made it so worth it. I live in Tampa but will have to visit this place again when I come back to Tallahassee! read more

Thea folks were fantastic! I ran in here and my mom and I needed a quick manicure and pedicure before my wedding. They were so lovely and kind and they did an outstanding job. read more

Very rude. I walked into an empty salon as a walk in and the person at the desk was not helpful at all. Could not give me a time and they are open until 8 pm. Willing to drive a further distance from my home for much better service. No stars if possible. read more

Customer service here is amazing. They are so friendly and really try to fit you in and cater to what you want. I had my nails dipped and they did such a great job. Highly recommend getting dipped nails here. read more

Drove up here because ours on yelp were listed as open today. Sign on the door says they are closed on Tuesdays. Not happy.

First visit...and it was GREAT! Very clean. Very comfortable pedi chairs. Relaxing atmosphere and the employees were all friendly! I'll be returning to NY Nails! read more

This is my go-to nail salon. I'm here about every 3 weeks to get a fill for my coffin shaped acrylics and gel polish change. John is the best for acrylics! I would be afraid to go to anyone else at this point. I've tried a lot of salons in my lifetime and he's by far the best. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. Walked in on Mother's Day to get a pedicure with my daughter. They were busy and I offered to go get my groceries while they finished, she even took my name. When I returned they had seated 3 others for pedicures and told me I had to wait another 15 minutes. Pretty frustrating given I gave them 45 minutes already. I left and would not return there. read more

Absolutely, hands down the BEST nail salon I've ever gone to. My friends and I make a pilgrimage to this amazing place every few weeks from Georgia (yes, out of state). It's best to make an appointment - they honor the time, so be sure you're on time! Amazing people, service, and you'll leave with a smile! LOVE IT! read more

They were very nice and personable. I went on a Monday night so there was no one else in there and had a wonderful conversation with the guy who did my nails. I asked him to reshape one of my nails and he did so without any attitude unlike at a lot of other places. They looked amazing when I left. I will definitely be going back even though it's across town from me. read more

Very nice people, but just warning that I picked up a case of athlete's foot there. I did not see their routine for sanitizing foot tubs. I know that they do not use disposable liners. Things things happen perhaps, but I will not return. The manager who I was told was Mary did not follow up with a return phone call. As it relates to the service, I got a manicure and pedicure. As it relates to the pedicure, more time was spent on legs than on feet. read more

I also live in Tampa, but frequently visit Tallhassee. This is the BEST salon out of all I've visited in both cities. Kim is meticulous and really makes sure things are done right. The pedicure chairs are AWESOME. Atmosphere is relaxing and the staff is friendly. A must-try salon. read more

the employees were so so kind, and did a wonderful job! my entire experience was pleasant and the facility was clean and well kept :)

I have been a customer of this salon for at least two years -- one tech there is great, but I'm not sure that she is still there. However, they do not encourage appointments, and if you try to walk in with more than one person, forget it! I called to get appts. for 3 pedicures, they told me just come in. I did, and the man (I think he is the owner/manager) asked what I wanted; when I told him 3 pedis (one for a little girl) he just said NO, and went back to the manicure he was working on. Didn't ask if we were willing to wait (we were), or if we could come back (we could). SO RUDE! I have put up with this on more than one occasion, but today (a Thursday afternoon), was just too much. I left, telling him that I would NOT be back. They lost a good customer, good tipper because they were RUDE! Don't bother going. I don't know how they stay in business with only one good tech and their horrible attitude! read more
