I came on a trip and needed a pedicure. I went it because it was close to my hotel. It is a very nice clean shop. The ladies were professional and nice. The woman who did my pedicure was pleasant and did a wonderful job. She gave a great leg massage and to my surprise a shoulder/neck massage while my nails were drying. Clean and great gel polish colors. However, they are the pricier of the three in the area and they don't use any type of bonding agent so my gel polish cracks and peels a few days after I get my gel manicure. At that rate Id be better off paying 10 dollars for a regular manicure. read more

This place scammed us out of $40. I scheduled 2 mani/pedis for my friend and I. During our pedicures, my friend's nail tech asked her what scent she wanted and began to list off "lavender, green tea, etc.." My friend answered lavender. Her tech turned to me and asked me the same. I said I would take lavender too, not knowing what we were choosing exactly. They never explained what it was or if it cost more money so I just assumed it was just part of this salon's pedicure procedure. They dropped lavender "bath bombs" into the tub and used lavender lotions and scrubs on our legs/feet. I thought it was a nice extra but nothing extravagant. At checkout, the sign said $40 for mani/pedi. She charged me $60. I told her the sign says $40 and she said but I had a spa pedicure. I told her I did not ask for a spa pedicure. She said when I chose lavender, that was me accepting the spa pedicure. I told her I had never been there before, how would I know that. She said I should have asked if it was more money. We went back and forth many times and she refused to change the price to $40. She said things like "There's nothing I can do. We've always done it this way. Next time you know" etc.. I told her I really enjoyed the service here and was hoping to make this my new salon but still she refused to budge. My friend and I paid for our $60 mani/pedis and left. I will definitely not be back. If you go to this salon, beware they will try to upcharge you on everything. I don't write reviews often, but when a place is way above average or way below...I take the time to write a review. Unfortunately, this place is way below. I got a shellac manicure, the worst manicure I've ever had. I have one nail that cracks down the middle, I asked for the lady to place a tip on that one nail...she refused. I said I'd pay, but she still refused stating, "Nobody there knows how to apply an acrylic tip." I found that hard to believe, considering they have it listed on their menu....or false advertisement, who knows. Anyway, I still proceeded with my nails. The following day they all chipped! I paid extra on my pedicure to get the callus remover and they didn't do anything different then the regular pedicure. They used scalding hot water. And we're pretty rude. Overall a bad experience and I would definitely not recommend.. read more

This place is clean, prompt and priced right! I have tried lots of nail salons lately because of my achy feet suffering from my high heel addiction. I generally look at place when i enter. If it doesnt look clean I walk out. This place was very clean when I came by at 6PM. They close at 7:30PM. I also noticed that they took out a clean sanitized set of tools when I sat down in the chair. That is a good thing!! Stopped by to use a gift certificate. It was old, however the year I received it I had foot surgery and couldn't use it. Last summer I had a toenail fungus and felt for everyone's benefit I should stay away. I explained it to them, but they refused to honor their gift certificate. Absolutely worst gel manicure I've ever had. My gel started peeling off the next day (typically I get at least 2 weeks before it starts chipping or peeling). Customer service was decent but I didn't expect it to be of such terrible quality. I felt like the manicure was rushed and a bit messy. When I left there was nail polish on my skin and nail beds. SEVERELY INFECTED TOE!! DON'T GO HERE! Sharon M. 1 Ny Nails DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! INFECTED TOE!! I am sitting with my left foot bandaged after having a frightening emergency doctor's visit from a black toe infection. The woman in chair one who did my pedicure took off, with a pumice, 1/4 inch of the bottom of my little toe. What she was doing on my toe I don't know. She covered it with alcohol and then some green goop. I stupidly paid her for her "service". Next day my toe was throbbing and turning blackish at the site and is covering over. I went today and the dr sent me to see if the bone might be infected as my foot is swollen, hot and getting purplish by the toes. I now have been to the Hunterdon WOUND Care Center and have to go back. I have a Stage One Ulcerative Wound that will be hard to heal from the unsanitary care at NY Nails. We have contacted the board of health and the dr. said a woman last week came in with an infection of her hand from there. I am NOT diabetic so BEWARE!! read more

Literally the worst gel manicure and pedicure I have ever gotten!! I just moved to the area and decided to try this place out... Never again. Firstly, the woman asked me repeatedly if I wanted the spa pedicure, because it costs more - of course. After I said no at least 4 times she begrudgingly did my "regular" pedicure. Both sets of nails are embarrassing, looks like a child did them - polish everywhere and uneven... The woman who did did my nails was rude and basically yelled at me when I asked her to make my finger nails a bit shorter. Really? Everything seemed Ike an inconvenience. Absolute worst manicure I've ever received. The place was dead but for some reason the girl was in a huge rush. Very sloppy in applying the gel manicure. Did not do the tips of the nail as other places do, I could feel my skin stuck with gel polish all over it, and it looked VERY sloppy. EXTREMELY disappointing experience. I walked in for a pedicure with out an appointment, there were 3 technicians available so not like they were rushed. I had one pretty bad callus as I had not had a pedi in about 5 weeks. I asked for the basic pedicure she asked did I want the spa pedicure? I asked how much it was she said $35 and would take about 30 or 40 minutes I said no thanks I did not have that much time. She said then regular pedicure I will not work on the callus. She asked me 3 or 4 more times which one I wanted, practically bullying me into the $35 spa pedicure so I said fine. I figured I really wanted the callus taken care of and that I could use a "SPA" like service as it has been a tough few weeks. But I kept thinking how weird it was that she would not do a callus on a "regular" pedicure because that's typically part of a pedicure. I have had many many pedicures at many many salons and NEVER been treated like this. I also often pay $40 for a mani pedi at several other salons in the area but I was completely scheduled and could not go anywhere else later and this was the closest salon to where I needed to be so I was sort of stuck. So I decided to relax and enjoy. She did a basic pedicure. That's it. She got a warm towel and sort of blotted my legs and feet for maybe 20 seconds, so maybe that was the spa part? Otherwise she trimmed, used a basic scrub, rinsed, applied lotion and polished ( and left a smear on my skin and missed the side of one nail) and said that will be $35!! I have been to 5 other salons between Lopatcong and Clinton and ALL of them did more, gave a better pedicure, and charged less! NEVER will I go back there. I would give"0" stars but that is not an option. And the technician was not remotely personable. Even after I relented and agreed to let her rip me off she was completely void of warmth or personality. I so regret going there and will never go again. I am happy about one thing however. I have 2 friends who recently moved into the area and in fact one of them had told me she wanted to try this place as it was close to her work. I am happy I was able to warn them away so that they do not waste their money. Really really bad vibe there. Feel they are sleazy and probably cut corners on cleanliness as well. I am new to the area and walked into NY Nails with no prior recommendation. I did not get a warm and fuzzy feeling when I initially walked through the door. I was told I had to wait a few minutes and inquired about the price for a manicure/pedicure I was told it would be $35.00. While the water was running before I sat down for the pedicure, the nail technician told me that for $45.00 she could work on calluses. I thought this to be odd since that is normally done within the price of the "regular" pedicure. I am a guy and sometimes these places attempt to up charge male clients just based on their sex. I was happy when I was quoted the posted price. Also, I go regularly and don't have problems with calluses. The nail technician never spoke to me after I said I wasn't interested in the $45.00 price and just wanted the regular $35.00 price I was quoted when I walked in. I was reading and not paying too much attention to what she was doing and before I knew it, she said she was finished. She didn't put any effort into even smoothing out the skin on my toes (not near what could be considered calluses on the bottoms. I told her that I wasn't satisfied with the job she did. She said if I paid the $45.00 she would have worked on the calluses. I notified the person that I assumed was the manager on duty and she never even came over to see what the issue was with my dissatisfaction. I put my shoes on and told the person at the front desk that I was completely dissatisfied with the job and asked how much the pedicure only was. She said $25.00....I paid reluctantly and left. I went directly to another nail salon down in town. The nail technician told me that the NY Nails tech never did my cuticles and they couldn't believe that they accepted money from me even after I voiced clearly that I was completely dissatisfied. I've gone to NY Nails in Clinton off and on over the past 10 years because it is convenient, not because it is good. And each time I go I swear it will be the last. The next-to-last time I went was a couple of years ago. It has always been an assembly line. I had a pedicure -- the woman kept asking me if I wanted the gel pedicure and I kept saying NO, just a regular pedicure (they always do). Finally she gave up and gave me a regular (cheaper) pedicure. However, she hurt me 3 times: the first time I just cringed and sucked in air thru my teeth, the second time I actually yelped out loud, which caused the other customers to turn and look at me, and unbelievably she hurt me a third time. (Note: I typically don't have my toenails polished. I prefer bare tootsies.) When I went to pay, she gave me a $5 discount coupon. As I took it, I thought 'cold day in hell...' Of course I didn't tip her. That was at least 2 if not 3 years ago. About a month ago, I was once again desperate and went there. You'd think I'd learn! Again I was questioned multiple times if I wanted a gel pedicure, and multiple times I said NO, just a regular pedicure. Although it was a different woman, she, too, hurt me. i recently moved to the area. stopped by shoprite and saw there was a nail salon near by. perfect i thought. i needed a refill on my tips and a manicure. was told the lady who does the refills was busy and needed to wait but i was able to get my feet done. i told them i wanted the regular manicure, they kept insisting on me getting the top of the line. i made it clear and said no. but while getting it done i noticed i never asked for the special scrubs (i have very sensitive skin) and she went on ahead and did it anyway. i told them again i said no. her answer was "well you have to pay for it because they put the scrub cream on me" mind you it was even whipped off. i just couldnt believe it. not professional at all and very nasty. so the manicure was finally over and i was told i needed to wait about 30 min to get my refill because the lady was busy. so i did wait a bit because i was already there. so i see the lady finish and go on to the next customer totally forgetting about me. they treated me like nothing there. i highly do not recommend this nasty place. mind you the prices are sooo high for the poor quilty they offer. honestly dont even know how they are still open. i have heard soo many negative things an=bout this place. i wish i knew before even wasting my time and money!! read more
