A few years after our wedding, the restaurant changed hands and became McFaul's Ironhorse Tavern. Initially, we were a bit concerned but that concern proved to be unfounded! With every trip back to MD, we always tried to stop into McFauls for - yup, a Maryland Crabcake (broiled), an ear or two of MD sweet corn and a cold Natty Boh! (My Dad used to work for National Brewing Co., so the beer choice was nostalgic, but honest! There is NO Natty Boh west of the Mississippi!) Anyway, nostalgia played a role in our choice of dining at McFaul's - but only ever so slightly! Until last night! We arrived at 5:30pm and had our choice of seating. It was a bit too warm to dine outside, so we chose a table for four near the fireplace. Two other tables were being served and the entire restaurant had not hit it's peak customer load! I settled in for my latest crabcake dinner. I chose the single crab cake with two sides. (Dinner: $35.00) but I am getting ahead of myself. Service was slow, waters only came right out and then the wait began. 10 minutes later, our server arrived to take our drink order. Of course, I ordered a can of Natty Boh. I also asked for a glass for my beer. 8 minutes later, the beer arrived (no glass.) Other drinks wandered in, but still no glass for the beer. I drank my water (which was also served in a beer-type glass) and waited. Our server returned to take our dinner order (still no glass!) Orders now placed and my can of Boh still needing a glass, I finished my water and poured (properly, of course) my Natty Boh into my empty, but still cold water glass. I enjoyed the first sip! Nicole came highly recommended, and throughout the planning process I appreciated her direct personality and felt confident we had made the right choice. I also want to recognize her husband, who was always kind to us and even helped create a custom meal for our tasting. His kindness and professionalism did not go unnoticed. However, on our wedding day things completely changed. It was heartbreaking to learn that my bridal party had been referred to as a "shit show," and during our sparkler exit, our guests were told to "shut the f*** up and listen." I even apologized to Nicole in case anyone in our bridal party had unknowingly made her job more difficult. I truly wanted to understand if we had done something wrong. I also spoke with some of our other vendors, all of whom had nothing but positive things to say about our wedding and assured me that we had been wonderful to work with. That made this experience even more difficult to understand. All of these events were very surprising to me because of all the good things I read about Nicole. After the wedding, I reached out to Nicole directly because I wasn't looking to argue or jump right to leaving a negative review. I simply wanted to share how her words and actions affected us, our families, and our guests. Nicole initially asked to speak over the phone, and I was open to that. However, after receiving her text response, I no longer felt a phone call would be productive. Much of her response focused on explaining that issues with another event earlier that day had carried over into her interactions with us. She also shared that members of her own staff had expressed concerns about her character. There was no gesture of goodwill or acknowledgment beyond explanations for why it happened. I didn't write this review out of anger or to discourage people from supporting a local business. I wrote it because I believe every couple deserves to know what our experience was like before trusting someone with their wedding day. A wedding isn't just about serving a meal it's about helping create an environment where couples, their families, and their guests feel welcomed, respected, and cared for. I hope that this feedback is taken to heart so that future couples receive the kindness, respect, and professionalism that every wedding deserves.

It was a solid crab cake, but there are some better options especially around Annapolis & Anne Arundel County in general, but this is conveniently located near the Hippodrome Theater & Camden Yard, where I went afterward in the respective years. It's a large restaurant and been a staple in downtown Baltimore a long time. I briefly dated a woman in Winter 2011-12, but she ended up becoming a friend. In April 2016, I won tickets to Kevin James at Hippodrome Theater. Although I tried to get a date for this, since that didn't pan out, I ended up going with a friend. My friend said I could pick whatever dinner I wanted on her since I got the tickets, drove us from her apartment in Hyattsville (I lived in Arlington, VA at the time; so a lot of driving that day), & ended up paying for the parking. I said that I wanted crab cakes and settled on Pratt Street House. With the parking costs, gas, & wear/tear, may have ended up a little behind, but I will say I enjoyed the crab cake. Like my prior review, I was still briefly dating the same woman in Spring 2022. I've lived in Anne Arundel County, and she lived in Cockeysville; so Baltimore City ended up being a good in between location. She wanted us to go to an O's game, which I wanted to too. Incidentally, this May 2022 Pratt Street Ale House & O's game was our last date. I found something to be annoying on our 2nd to last date and was reluctant to go on another date.
