Nu-vision was prompt and did a nice job of the floors, but I was expecting a different outcome. Refinished floors are not the same as the original floors and came out a lighter color and not as polished. However, the mess they left behind is another story.
First, the job was for 475 sq ft, and quoted at $1500.00, done in one day. Then it was actually $2200 for water based poly and one day. My job took four days. So my pets and I had to leave, thankfully I had a place to stay. Also another $100 to remove the toilet and replace with a new wax ring. (They had the wrong wax ring, so I had to go buy a new one.)
Second, since it was 90 degrees on the day they came to do the floors, I had the AC on, which in turn blew the dust through out the house. On Monday, one man came and started with the heavy sander, then said he couldn't do the edges because of his bad knees and someone else would come the next day. I also had a few areas that needed attention and the worker gladly fixed those areas, for an extra $100 dollars.
Tuesday came and they finished sanding, and left. Wednesday, the first coat of stain was applied, and a coat of poly. Thursday buffing and another coat of poly. I was able to return on home Thursday evening. When I arrived, a shelf in the garage was down, and everything just left on the freezer and floor. (Though, later they denied it was them.) Not sure what happened, but my weed wacker charger cord was pulled out and broken. Of course the part I needed to fix my weed wacker is no longer made, so that's a loss. Then inside the house was a total mess, dust everywhere, they didn't even put the door back on. The tape was not removed from the carpet, the dust was on everything everywhere. Poly was splashed on the carpet leaving small harden stains.
When Wes came to inspect and get his payment, he was surprised too, and put a shelf back up, rehung the door, and left me in the mess.
My suggestions are to be up front with the the 1 day water based poly and price, or four days poly and leaving the house. Second, seal the areas off so that the dust is contained. Also close off the room vents so that the dust isn't blown all over the house. Clean up better, including on the porch where the workers sat with their dusty boots for their breaks. Don't leave such a mess, put things (like doors) back.
Update: Wes did contact me after reading my review, and wanted to make everything right, I asked him to replace my weed wacker and I gave him 3 stars. He said he'll never used that worker again. But he wanted this review removed, and he replace my weed wacker; I'm not taking this review down, because people need to know what they're in for. He said he did the job at cost, but he was the middle price of my 3 estimates. I think Wes is a nice guy, but should ensure everything is sealed off and all dust removed before closing the deal, it just wasn't professional. read more
