There must have been a problem with the final layer of varnish and the floors started looking pretty bad. 9 months later, I called up Matt and he sent a guy over and they redid the entire floor for no charge. I had Matt sand and refinish our 65 year old oak flooring we had in our house. It turned out gorgeous. I can't believe how great it looks it's like I had new flooring installed. About a month later we decided to replace our tile and went with hardwood and had T&M install and stain that portion as well and I couldn't believe it. It looks identical to the rest of the house. Matt and company refinished our 14 year old hard wood floors. Over time the wax build up from polishing had taken it's toll not to mention the scratches from our dogs nails and other assorted marks. Matt did an amazing job and at a great price. I bought a foreclosure, auction house in Joliet. We pealed back a few layers of floors to find beat up, discolored, 100 year old wood floors. Matt went above and beyond to bring these floors back to life. We had a few holes repaired. We had some water damage and some very deep gouges. Where do I begin? Dealing with Matt at T&M was a complete nightmare. Matt is very shady and will tell you what you want to hear not the truth. I had them put in a 3/4" oak floor in my home remodel over a year ago. Since then I have had nothing but problems. Boards coming up.....stain and polyurethane splashed on my baseboard and walls which had to be repainted.....fine wood dust everywhere throughout the house....boards cracking.......lumps of polyurethane in the finish......nail holes in the surface never filled and finished. It's been a total nightmare. I called Matt just over a year after the floor was installed and told him about all the issues. He would not even come out and look at the issues because he said they only guarantee their work for a year. He said any repairs would be at my expense when the repairs were needed because of his shoddy work. Wood plank oak floors should NEVER come up if installed correctly. I subsequently found out this guy only does floors part time and tries to be a fly by night general contractor the rest of the time. The wood bull nose on the top step at the basement door cracked because it was installed improperly. This guy has a million and one excuses for everything. He will lie through his teeth while smiling to get out of fixing stuff and tell you that's normal. He had to repair both doorways going into my bedrooms after they finished because the boards cracked when we walked on them. The installer replaced the board but never bothered to stain it to match the rest of the floor so it sticks out like a sore thumb now. The board under my dining room table is coming up because it wasn't nailed down properly. The installation guy is some guy with a thick Polish accent. His only concern was getting it done fast not right. In the kitchen I caught the guy trying to install floor boards without putting rosin paper underneath because Matt didn't order enough and he didn't want to wait for more material. He told me the stain and polyurethane topcoat would smell a little when applied. It smelled so bad my family had to stay in a motel for 2 days twice. One time when he stained and the next time when he had to redo the entire floor because the finish had big lumps in it. I just had another contractor come in to fix all the floor issues and he told me he's heard nothing good about this company. I think the whole issue is Matt is no floor expert he's a flooring wannabe. Steer clear of this company if you value your home and your sanity. I'm not sure where all these positive reviews are coming from he must be writing them himself. This guy cannot be trusted. His customer service is non existent. If you have problems he'll just refuse to come back after he gets paid. read more

I can't believe all these people reviewed Matt so highly. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!! I had a terrible experience with him. I paid the entire amount, yet he did not finish the job. He claimed that he could not find wood to match the cabinets. (The toe kick under cabinets in my kitchen and in my living room had been damaged by water.) I called month after month. When I was able to reach him, he would say once again, that he could not find the right color of wood. Even the building engineer in my very nice Gold Coast high-rise building, who had hired Matt, called a number of times. Finally (this had been 5 months) the building engineer told Matt to bring wood that was similar and to get it done NOW (this month- December 2017). Matt set up a day that he was going to come over, but he didn't come or call. When the building engineer called Matt after his first no-show, he set up another day. Again, Matt didn't come and didn't let us know that he wasn't coming. I give up. I don't understand why Matt would be so irresponsible when he could get a lot of work in my building. The building engineer will never use him again. So I warn the rest of you. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. read more

Matt provided a very competitive quote to install hardwood flooring. Material was delivered a week in advance of start-up, as promised. Matt, Tony and Jorge were always on time and professional. All were informative and explained each process regarding flooring installation, staining and sealing. Workmanship was excellent and at the end of each day the work area was cleaned-up and equipment neatly stored on site. This is not the first time we have used T & M Flooring. I have never written a negative review because I feel it is not easy for a business these days. But I have to write this review for two reasons: 1) what happened to me should never happen to anyone else again; and 2) what happened to me was a nightmare. I bought Groupon from this business to have the living-room hardwood floor refinished (about 450 sf) . The owner stated in his answers to questions that he would seal off the rooms and cover the furniture/belongings with plastics. He did mention that some dust should be expected. I purchased the Groupon and expected to have some dust. He refinished the floor in May 2012. I wish I never used him. When I came back to my home I was totally shocked by the heavy dust that was everywhere in all rooms. It was not "some dust". It was dust you would only see when someone blow the it at you. When I contacted the owner about this, his response was "I am the floor guy not your cleaning guy". I did not expect him to clean the rooms. I only expected him to do what he said he would do to seal the doors to other rooms and to cover things with plastics. He did nothing, nothing at all to protect other rooms from the dust. He did not seal off a single room and he did not cover anything with any plastic. I put all my dry cleaning clothing in the garment bags and they were in the bedroom. Even so they were all covered by the dust. If he did what he said he would do there was no way the dust would go into the garment bags and be all over the cloth. After I sent him pictures I took of the dusty furniture, bathtub, clothing, the utility room etc. he told me to give me $50 to have my cloth cleaned. What could $50 do? Who would want to have the floor refinished but the whole house be destroyed? That was what happened to me. I had my floor refinished but got so many things destroyed. I checked online after this experience and found another person had exactly the same complaints. I wish I read the review before I used T & M Flooring Service, Inc. It was the worst experience I ever had. By the way, the floor work is so so. The hardwood floor I have has the diagonal layout. He charged me extra for it. I do not see any flooring people would not be able to refinish it. He did not inspect the finished product to ensure customers' standard's are met as he said he would. There are many bubbles on the floor that looked like the droops of glue or something. The problem with this business is that he DID DO what he said he would do. I would never ever use them again. Last November I bought a voucher from Amazon.com to be redeemed for floor sanding services from T&M Flooring. When I called the company's number at 630-834-5258, I was directed on their voicemail to email my name, address and voucher code to their email address at info@tandmflooring.com. I did what was instructed and I received an automated email stating someone would get back to me in 24-48 hours. 48 hours passed and I got no response. I waited for another 24 hours and sent another email. Again, no response. I waited for one week and called Amazon.com. Since Amazon.com's policy allowed me to apply for a refund only within the first month of purchase, I immediately requested for a refund. Apparently, the refund had triggered an alert to the company and I soon received a call from the company asking why I had cancelled the voucher. I explained that I did not hear from anybody from his company for over a week and I had no choice but to cancel since his company's voucher would be worthless after 180 days. He said he would check his schedule and get back to me. But he never did. This June, I received another email from Amazon.com promoting this company's voucher. I decided to give this company one more try, figuring they were just too busy the first time. This time, I decided to send an email to the company to schedule the appointment before going through the hassle to buy and refund the voucher from Amazon.com. As expected, I received the same automated message stating someone would get back to me in 24-48 hours. As before, 48 hours passed and nobody responded. I am now glad that I made the decision to refund my voucher last year, since it would have become worthless had I waited for this company to put me on their schedule. Apparently, Amazon.com had since taken down this company's voucher offering since they sent me the promotional email just a couple of weeks ago. I hope Amazon.com is starting to catch up on how many vouchers sold by this company were successfully redeemed and how many were left expired worthless because their customers just gave up trying to schedule with this company. I love Amazon.com's merchandise offering and return policies, but I think they should really research the local businesses before they offer their vouchers for sale on their website. I would like to see Amazon.com offering vouchers from responsive and legitimate businesses in the future. read more
