One of the few on the island with an assisted chair to lower you into the pool.

Growing up, the Y is where I learned to swim! Nice pool, clean water, lots of adult and children aquatic programs is what makes this Y a win. There are a lot of classes, equipment, and offerings here that compare to other fitness clubs. But one of things that sets them apart is the wide range of programs for both children and kupunas! The facility itself is a little tired, but recent lobby enhancements, fresh paint, and the addition of an Urgent Care facility within the building serves the surrounding community well.

What kind of trees are in the parking lot? Monkey Pod?! They make a mess! So I've been a member of the YMCA (the Y) for years, thus, having a really good grand-fathered in rate. And although the limited operational hours here blows, it would be really dumb of me to drop my membership now because of that. Instead, I've made adjustments to my schedule to where I can incorporate time to get my workouts in. If you didn't already know, the Y offers many different classes that members are welcomed to participate in. Classes like Tai Chi, Cycling, Aikido, Escrima, Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Water Aerobics, Kickboxing, and many more that I'm sure I'm overlooking, are all included in your membership. Just check out the monthly schedule posted at the gym or online. I come here mostly just to workout in the weight room because the other gym that I belong to seriously lacks in this area. Here, the machines are plentiful and so are the free weights. Some areas here are in need of a serious face-lift for sure. The locker room for one is in desperate need of it. But honestly, I don't care about the aesthetics as long as the workout equipment is functional. And it is so there are no complaints from me. NO CELL PHONE zones! Love it! The use of cell phones are not permitted in any of the workout areas. This way, selfie freaks and smart phone addicts can't be hogging up the equipment because they're too busy screwing around on their phone. I hear that monthly memberships here are pretty steep these days. However, I have also heard that they have financial assistance and corporate rates for those who meet the criteria for discounted memberships. Sweet, huh? Go check it out. It wouldn't hurt to inquire, right?

It's a beautiful day at the YMCA

It's my Y! There is a variety of equipment, including speed bags, functional fitness rooms to create your own workouts using kettle bells, weight bars, plyometric boxes, and more!

I doubt it. The staff is really busy as it is. It is a fully finctional YMCA. You don't need to bring anything

A few months ago, an employee named Juan signed my son up for a membership over the phone. I never signed a written contract, and the cancellation policy was never explained to me. My son is leaving for military basic training on June 1st. We tried to do the right thing and cancel the membership well in advance (starting on May 7th). Despite explaining that he is leaving for the military (with orders), the front desk refused to help and said the cancellation would be "pending" until June 16th, meaning they intend to force me to pay for a full month of June while my son is away at basic training. I have reached out to the manager, Tiffany Ahnee, multiple times via email to get this resolved professionally. She has completely ignored every single email. I have attached screenshots to this review showing my original text conversations with Juan (who no longer works there) proving how the account was set up, as well as my multiple unanswered emails to Tiffany. It is shameful that a gym with the UFC brand name would treat future service members this way and trap them in billing cycles for verbal, over-the-phone agreements. Do not sign up here unless you are prepared to be ignored by management when you need to cancel.

I was somewhat hesitant, but since she was a woman much younger than myself I believed we could relate better than a male trainer. I know that Marisa is becoming an expert at helping the aging set seniors -that would be me recently losing my husband I decided I had to start working on my mental health as well as my physical in my younger days. I was an athlete but as four children and three husbands I tended to put on a lot of weight when I first met Marisa she explained her history of working with the elderly and I was put at ease knowing that somebody knew more about my body than a regular trainer. I would like to say I have completed the program. It was tough, but I lost 10 pounds and my body is totally different and back to the athlete I used to be don't get me wrong, it didn't help my wrinkles or all my loose skin. That takes time the way Marisa explained things to me about exercising and visiting the gym. I had never heard before. I have been to Jim's and got no results but in three months the results that have shown on my body is amazing and I feel so much better. I'm happier. I walked 3 to 5 miles a day now and I'm getting more tone each day Marisa's knowledge of training is unprecedented, especially for the older people. She took the time to really help me understand the meaning of exercise before I joined the gym. I met a gentleman and I complimented him on his physique. He was an older man like me and he commented the Jim is waiting, but I was scared. Marisa took these fears and threw them right out the window. She was honest, sincere, and extremely professional so I'm gonna tell all you Seniors out there, if you keep sitting on your butt not only is it gonna get bigger but it's putting 1 foot in the grave. I am 75 years old and I now feel 17. I have the energy and motivation I need. Thank you, Marisa, for letting me know old age is just a number. Marisa made my muscle memory came back.
