The attendenant will verify your room number and give you a wrist band to wear in the pool area. They also have towels that you can either use at the pool or at the beach. We always got the cabanas before. It was a great deal and they had such good coverage. We reserved the same ones as before on this trip but when we arrived, we were very disappointed that they were no longer cabanas (even though they were advertised as cabanas on the website). It was just a small umbrella that offered very little protection from the sun. When we expressed our disappointment and asked if we could get refunded, they said no (understandable since there's a 48 hour cancellation policy) and from that moment on were very rude to us. When we asked to cancel the 2nd day, they coldly said, "Do it on the website." Anyways, we moved to the back, despite having paid for the cabanas for that day, because there was more shade. They continued to be rude and caddy to us during our stay at the Sheraton. It's upsetting that they got rid of the cabanas from before. They really downgraded. The seats in front are really no different from the ones behind now, that are free. The umbrellas are even smaller than the back ones. I wouldn't return to the Sheraton just because of the treatment of the pool staff.

It's a smaller pool with five lanes and only 25 yards each way, but the awesome staff (lifeguards) who try to squeeze in extra swimmers after ones that finish early are quite excellent in my book. The Salt Lake pool is too stringent with their limited hours and strict one person per lane per hour rules. Unlike them, this pool is really flexible and still abides by the COVID-19 rules. The outside shower heads are a bit stubby and can't get your entire body in it, but who's complaining. The parking is very limited though on-site, but there is street parking available. Other than that, that's about it. If you really want a good swim with great hours, highly recommend to come to this pool!

With the University of Hawaii Duke Kahanoku Aquatic Complex closing for visiting teams from the continent and Canada during the holiday break, Iolani kept their swim lanes open for devout swimmers who needed a place to get in their regular work outs. Coach Ivan and the Team exhibit the inclusive and supportive spirit shared among swimmers worldwide. It should come as no surprise that the team membership grew from just a few swimmers to a roster of 40+ in such a short amount of time. Regular swimmers of all age groups and abilities attend weekly practices, held conveniently after work hours. Seasonal athletes training for the swimming portion of a triathlon and open water swims also find themselves at Iolani pool for Coach Ivan's work outs. Judging by the number of them who have attained their personal best / set records for their age groups, it is fair to say this team fosters success. Most importantly, Iolani Swim Club provides the sort of safe space where swimmers support one another while still being able to compete with themselves to set higher standards. However, since the advent of COVID-19, the…read moreswimming opportunities have been scarce at the Nuuanu branch of the YMCA (where I'm a member and where I normally do my swimming workouts). When times are available, they are limited to a mere 50 minutes and require reservations in advance. Frustrated, but accepting of the situation, I resigned myself to swim as much as I could in 50 minutes and accept any reservation times I could secure. The other day, I was walking my doodle with my wife and children through Pauoa Valley. When passing by Booth Park, I noticed that there was a schedule for lap swimming at the pool. Heck, I didn't know lap swimming was available at a community pool. Curious, I walked up to ask if there were open swim times. I was greeted and informed that there are 5 lanes and it's first-come-first-served availability at the listed times. WOW! Today, Sunday, since the Y is closed, I figured there's no time like the present to try out my new find. I headed over and, low and behold, I was able to immediately start my swim and I was able to get my ENTIRE pre-COVID workout in. I'm stoked! The lifeguards are helpful and friendly. The pool was clean and refreshingly cool. I look forward to spending more time here making my shoulders ache.
