There's a pool near the front that's not just a kiddie pool. There's a ramp and not just stairs at the entrance (good for handicap/stroller accessibility). Unfortunately they closed the snack bar (used to be my favorite place to get gummy snacks after practice). I heard the tennis courts now have a surface that is squishy and unlike regular courts which is not too good. But other than that, it's just as I remember! The parking lot is pretty beat up and today had lots of pooling water in potholes. At least the parking is free!

It also appears there are large swim teams practicing daily in the afternoon. So..if you are expecting a leisurely quiet swim after work you are better off at the beach park. The facilities are dated with rotting railings. Bathrooms are old and not exactly the cleanest. The club has several tennis courts with regular patrons gossiping on the side lines and ummm..playing. Gym equipment is located kinda semi outdoors indoors style. Parking is tough in the afternoon with the kids and their parents descending in droves for swim classes or team practices. If you are expecting new equipment and cleanly updated surroundings with quiet work out space..this place is not for you.

The lifeguard will sit there and watch your every move I understand for our own safety which is nice it's free we can't complain even if they charged a fee I would pay it pool was clean. Then came the swim lessons and culinary camp. Then during Covid he attended day camp so he could do his work while his father and I worked. Financial aid at the YMCA is amazing. I can't even remember how many times the program, including lunch, was all of a sudden free thanks to generous donors. Now 11 yrs later he just completed YMCA college camp. It truly flies by and I couldn't be happier with our ymca experience. Now that he's back from college camp he will finish his summer as a junior leader. I'm so grateful to Nuuanu YMCA for creating such a welcoming, engaging, safe environment for my child at any age.

It has all the same amenities: day-use lockers (bring your own lock), unisex sauna, communal showers, bathroom, and a door that leads directly to the pool, everything is just smaller and cozier. I like that there are chairs and stools throughout the locker to sit and rest. It's a very friendly and chatty vibe with a mostly older crowd. It's very nude in the locker room, just a heads up. Guys will brush their teeth at the sink naked as the day they were born! But it's a totally comfortable and judgment-free zone, and you get used to it. The gym is fantastic. All the machines and equipment are in excellent condition. It never gets too crowded. This is a wonderful facility.

With the University of Hawaii Duke Kahanoku Aquatic Complex closing for visiting teams from the continent and Canada during the holiday break, Iolani kept their swim lanes open for devout swimmers who needed a place to get in their regular work outs. Coach Ivan and the Team exhibit the inclusive and supportive spirit shared among swimmers worldwide. It should come as no surprise that the team membership grew from just a few swimmers to a roster of 40+ in such a short amount of time. Regular swimmers of all age groups and abilities attend weekly practices, held conveniently after work hours. Seasonal athletes training for the swimming portion of a triathlon and open water swims also find themselves at Iolani pool for Coach Ivan's work outs. Judging by the number of them who have attained their personal best / set records for their age groups, it is fair to say this team fosters success. Most importantly, Iolani Swim Club provides the sort of safe space where swimmers support one another while still being able to compete with themselves to set higher standards. It's true that swimming saves lives. Have a look around you and see for yourself.

Wow I can't believe this place only got one star. I'm gonna bump it up because it definitely…read moredeserves more than that! A few weeks ago we had my daughter's birthday party here. There's a calendar online where you can see what dates and times are available. They fill up fast on the weekend so if you want to plan something, do it quick. My daughter told us last minute she wanted a birthday party. And you know what, finding a venue at the last minute can be so difficult. We got lucky with Mariners Cove Bay Club. They had an opening on Friday night and we just took it. We wanted to do a Saturday but both the 9 am slot and 4pm slot were already reserved. The process to reserve is actually very simple. All I did was call the number on the website and ask for possible dates. It's best to do that in case someone reserved and it hasn't been put on the calendar yet. The next step is to fill out an application and pay a deposit fee. The application just says what day and time you need it for and it outlines the rules. There's a lot of rules so make sure to read it carefully. Some of the rules include no hanging things on the walls or ceilings. So that for us meant no piñata. There's a no bounce house rule. Also in order to get your deposit back, you have to make sure it's the way you left it. The site was great for my daughters party. We had about 12 kids and their families. Her party was at the 4pm slot but we didn't start until 5. I didn't think they would swim but the kids went in the pool and swam for a while and enjoyed every bit of it. The facilities have a kitchen that was very helpful. We were able to store our drinks in there during the party. They also have a sink and counter to put the other things. They normally have a range but it was broken when we had the party. They also have a grill. We would have like to use the range but we instead just brought our crock pot and had our chili in there instead. We also made hot dogs and just heated it all in another crock pot. It worked it very nicely. The room was big enough for us to play games with the kids after dinner and they had a lot of fun. It was a lot of work planning the party but my daughter had a fun time and so did her friends. In the future, we will definitely look into using this facility more.

He has coached both of our daughters -- now 4 and 7 -- and the transformation has been remarkable. Both girls started with a real fear of the water, and Brandon had such a natural, thoughtful way of gently pushing them forward at just the right pace. He always seemed to know exactly what each of them needed to build confidence without feeling overwhelmed. Thanks to Brandon, both girls are now water safe, have learned to swim, and continue to improve their strokes every year. But what really sets him apart is that he makes every single lesson genuinely fun. Summer swim lessons: Enrolled my daughter in swim lessons…read morelevel 4 for the summer. She grew up in the pool, has been swimming since she was 6 weeks old. She surfs, she swims and dives with confidence. We have a boat and are in the open ocean frequently. I enrolled her in YMCA swim lessons level 4 to fine tune technical swim strokes. My experience-she was one of 2 students. She finished and was assessed yesterday and was marked as not meeting any benchmarks to level up to the next class. Problem with student? Or problem with instructor. I witnessed a lot of supervised play, sharks and minnows, cannon balls..$300 for 6 sessions. I don't and won't recommend or refer. Kids teaching kids. Shame on you ymca, you discredit your reputation for not doing better.
