These folks re-roofed my house last year. Their work looks attractive and seems to be of high quality workmanship. The price included rain gutters, too. They did a few minor repairs that were needed at no extra charge. I am pleased with my new roof and the work they did. They didn't get a five star rating because they moved a downspout from one end of the house to the other, placing it just outside our bedroom. There was a good reason for its original location. Best Company ever - hands down. I was very impressed from the start. My husband called several roofing companies and most of them informed us that they were too busy to come and give us an estimate. One person came and he gave an estimate but both my husband and I did not feel comfortable with him. He was not with a company and operated with himself, his son and a cousin. Mark from Nushake came out the next day and my husband and I both felt comfortable. He was very professional and provided us with a detailed written estimate. Mark came back when we decided to go ahead with Nushake and brought us a packet with information and colors of the roofing materials. We set a date and then it snowed so we had to reschedule a couple of times. We worked with the office staff , who were friendly, professional and understanding. The working crew came on time every day before 8:30 am, worked until noon, took a half hour lunch and continued working until 4:00 or 4:30 pm. On two days there was only 1 person and he usually stayed until 5:00 - 5:30 pm. All of the working crew were friendly and hard workers. It took 5 days and the roof was finished. Another person came a few days later to install the leaf guard in the gutter. I loved Nushake and highly recommend them to any on looking to replace a roof. In fact, I took my car in for servicing yesterday and the mechanic stated he had to replace his roof and I gave him the number for Nushake. I am not in the habit of writing reviews but this company deserves to be noticed! I am modifying my rating of Nushake and upgrading them to 3 stars due to how well they handled the problems we encountered. One of the managers contacted me and resolved everything to my satisfaction. Turns out they had installed the correct number of vents but that the inspector missed one. They have provided me with the documentation I requested. The roof passed final inspection and I have a 10 year warranty from Nushake on their workmanship. I would recommend them, but beware of misunderstandings. Ask lots of questions and be sure you understand what they are NOT doing as part of the job. Original: After obtaining bids from four roofing companies, we decided to go with Nushake to re-roof our house in Danville. They were recommended to me by a coworker, they had done a lot of work in the area, they had good reviews, they appeared to be forthright, and their pricing was reasonable. What a mistake it has been! After failing the permitting inspections, I found they did not fully disclose information relevant to the job, they did not install all of the vents they were supposed to, and their workmanship is suspect in several areas. They even sent men into my house without my knowledge or consent (through a vent in the roof, to blow in insulation, but failed to notify me). The sales person has not been responsive, the receptionist was downright rude and they refuse to put in writing the details of their work (which I have requested repeatedly because I do not trust them now.) Great company to work with. I used them for a re-roof and new composition 4 years ago. As a result of a local move, last month I unfortunately needed to get my current house re-roofed (removal of old shake, add plywood, and install top of the line composition shingles). I called Nushake again. They had great pricing and excellent communication. I also know for a fact that last time they worked quickly and did an amazing job at clean-up. This time around I went with another company. It was nothing again Nushake and I just as easily would have gone with them, it was just a scheduling thing on my end. They left a mess everyday, lack of communication from the front office, stated they were going to be there and then not even show up. They failed to show up 3 separate times even though I had direct communications that I would get a call the day before if they were not going to be available. I gave explicit instructions that I have 2 dogs that need to be taken care of while they are in my year (courtyard style). 2 out of the 6 days they said they were coming, they came and I haven't heard from them in weeks. I just called and got "Lindsey" on the phone and she told me not to be rude to her as I was explaining my situation. It is not her fault they don't have a working truck or employees that are available...well Lindsey, yes it is. Needed roof leak fixed. They came by did a repair and it leaked again. Called them back and they did another repair and it leaked again so bad it destroyed the inside walls sheet rock. I called them back, and they sent a boss Jerry Garcia looked at all the damage and He told me they would come back and repair the roof and take care of everything. Said they had the same problem in Sacramento. Never came back. Called every month and they said they would come back. Never have. It's been 8 months now.Please never use these liars. I would be giving 2 stars if it weren't for the fact that I have had two previous roofs done by them which both went well. The most recent roof appears to be installed well and in good shape (we will see more when the rain comes), however the customer service was definitely sub-par throughout the whole process. Price was good and based on our previous experience 4 years ago, we chose to use them again. I had to call repeatedly to coordinate the date with my electrician coming and did not get calls back. The roof took several days to complete (this is not a huge roof), with workers working into the dark the last day. Then, their ladder and tons of trash and nails were left all over my yard and I have two children running around, so this is clearly a hazard. I had to call 4 times (with no responses) and wait over 6 days to finally get the trash picked up and the magnet run over my yard again due to the nails and debris everywhere. I am fairly sure it would all still be sitting there had I not called the main office again yesterday morning. They said they would call me back with an update, which they did not. Luckily, I happened to be home when they showed up at my door to go in the back yard to pick up everything. There is still trash in the front yard and in my trees which I will just have to clean up myself at this point. I would say this is just an average company and you could likely do better service-wise with another vendor. They are happy to keep sending me my final bill every few days, but take their time actually finishing the job. They honestly should not even send a final bill until everything is cleaned up and the homeowner is satisfied that the work is complete. read more

We just had our roof and gutters replaced a couple of weeks ago, and we were very happy with everything. They had to start a few days later than they originally told us because of rain, but they let us know right away. They did a great job, arrived on time, and cleaned everything up, The roof looks great. They took care of all the inspections, and even came back with a different color of downspouts for our gutters when I decided against the color I originally told them. This is the worst example of how to run a business!!! Was given a time line on my contact... Nushake did not deliver on any of their promises!!! Roof was torn off and crew laid plywood and paper I Thought I was going to be good. Two weeks went by with no crew coming out to put on new roof. At this point my insulation was not blown in. Crew came cut a hole in the plywood tore the paper and blew in the insulation. Spoke to the general manager on several occasions and was repeatedly told that my roof is going to be done the following day. I told the company I was going on vacation and I did not want the roof to be done while I was on vacation I wanted it to be done before I left. I left on vacation and roof Was still not put on. After returning from vacation I saw That they had installed the roof. It is unknown whether all of the paper that was torn was repaired or replaced. unknown if I will ever have water damage or seepage due to improper repair of the paper. In my opinion I would never ever ever ever ever use nushake as a contractor. I've tried on a couple of occasions to get in contact with the owner and was not allowed to speak with the owner and was given excuse after excuse why I could not get in contact with him or why the owner could not get in contact with me. This company is very unprofessional in my opinion. And to top it off after I had paid them the entire amount I owed them for the repair of the roof they still tried to send me an additional bill of over $2000. Absolutely ridiculous! read more

I'm on Day 7 and still waiting for the job to be completed. Brock is the scheduler and has only called me once, on the day before starting, to confirm the start date. He has not called me since the job started even though he was aware of 2 delays due to slow crew progress. I have spoken to him twice since the job started only because I called him with questions. Communications with the company has been dismal since the job started. This was scheduled as a Tues-Fri job, so I planned to start my vacation on Monday. The roofers 'finished' on Saturday. Today is Monday and I'm still waiting for them to clean up and finish painting the flashing. I had to call again this morning only to find that they have not yet scheduled the inspector. So far the work looks OK...some sloppy cuts on shingles around vents and unpainted flashing along the upper story walls...but generally OK. The workers have been on time and friendly and at least one speaks enough broken English enough to communicate. I'll follow up with a final report after the company completes all their responsibilities. Follow up: The company sent workers to paint the flashing and clean up the site on Day 8. Later that day I left town for an extended period but my wife stayed home. She found over the next 2-3 days that the fumes (possibly tar and chemicals) enter the house during the heat of the afternoon. Nu Shake sent a rep to the house to investigate and we're waiting for the final outcome. Over the past few days, my wife said the smell is subsiding some, but so have the temps. My theory: The added roof vents increase the incoming flow of air substantially in the attic. Without extra exhaust vents, there is inadequate venting to allow that air to escape. The increase in pressure inside the attic is causing the air to flow into the house through the attic access doors in the closet and pantry. So far, Nu Shake has been responsive and professional in dealing with concerns or issues that have arisen. The end result to fixing the fumes issue may be installation of a ridge vent to increase the attic venting. I expect that they will continue to work with us in a professional and responsible manner. read more

We recently had a roof put on by NuShake Roofing. We had gotten several estimates but called NuShake after observing their work on 2 houses in our neighborhood. I was impressed by the job they did on the house behind me and talked to the guy in charge of the roof and was impressed by his knowledge. NuShake's estimate was fair for the market and we needed a complete tear off. The workers were all neat, courteous, and competent. Several of them have worked for the company for over 10 years! They carefully picked up all debris each day and after the job was completed left over supplies were stacked neatly on the side of the house and picked up later. After receiving many estimates we decided to go with NuShake due to their grade on Angles list and the price of the bid. The morning they showed up for the tear off they did so in force and to my amazement they were able to remove the old roof in a single day. That alone was pretty impressive due to the size of this job. I was worried that they would not have the roof completed before a storm was due to hit on the upcoming weekend but again when they started laying the roof down they did so with a very large crew and completed the roof before it rained. The roof looks great and I am very satisfied with it. All of my neighbors have also commented on how good it looks. Sales person & pricing was great! The product is good, but the customer service is suspect. After the first day, they made a mess around our property, but it was part of the deal which they will clean up at the end. On the second day, i checked my swimming pool and it was a mess, even though they covered it during the job. It had all kinds of debris in the pool and turned my pool color from beautiful blue to dark green (dirty water color). I called their customer service #, and the guy who answered the phone didn't help, but instead tried to claim it on me, saying our pool was bad to begin with. Luckily I had dated pictures to prove my pool was beautiful before we came out. I escalated to their management and never got a respond. Finally, the field manager called and said they would clean up the mess and the debris in my pool. My pool restored to normal blue color again, and my property area is cleaned again...although not 100% clean, but I'll take it. Conclusion, pricing and sales were great, but beware when you have to deal with issues with them. Make sure you have evidence on everything on your property, and make they cleanup after the job. read more
