Cute little place and the carousel horses are beautiful. It costs two bucks per ride. It's never crowded except when there's a bday party or event. The carousel does go very fast and the horses go up and down so I wouldn't recommend it for very young kids unless they are planning on sitting on the sleds. They also have a lovely little garden in front of the carousel house with benches to sit on. There's plenty of parking in front. And this is also next to the Long Island children's museum.

Really beautiful restored carousel, originally from Baldwin, NY. It's decorated with scenes from across LI. $2 per ride.

I took my son here for his birthday. He enjoyed riding on the carousel. It is also a great for children to have birthday parties.

Pulling up to the craddle of aviation museum in Garden City.

Every time I called or spoke to someone, they were so kind, willing to answer every question I had and assured me that everything would be perfect. They were right. The space for the carousel is for 50 people because that is how many chairs they have available. We had over 50 people there and you never felt crammed or squashed. There was SO much space. We had entertainers come and they had room to set up and put on their shows as well. They park provides 6 rectangular tables for guests to sit at as well as 3 other tables that could be used to food, gifts, favors..etc. The carousel operator ( I wish I would have remembered her name) was amazing- she was so kind and attentive and even gave the baby a t shirt! The staff working at the concession was also so helpful in letting us unload the food and drinks prior to the party start time. A special thank you to Emily who really went above and beyond to make sure everything went right. The weather was perfect too and it helps that the entire carousel section is covered so even if its hot outside, it was nice and shaded. Our guests were raving about this party for many days afterwards. We even had many native Staten Islanders who had come there for the first time. They will definitely be returning. I want to have every party there from now on. Thank you again to the staff, Do not hesitate to throw a party here because you well get your moneys worth and the experience will surely be a positive one.

Our toddler Leo B. rode a carousel in Sacramento back in March, just before his second birthday,…read moreand he loved it so much he threw a fit when it was over, and the brief ride became one of his most salient memories. He talked about it all the time and asked to see "carousel pictures" over and over, and then we went home to L.A., where the one time we tried to drive to find a carousel, the damn thing was out of operation and we had to hide it from his view. So when we spent a week within a couple blocks of Bryant Park, we were thrilled to discover Le Carrousel at the beginning of our stay. Tickets cost $4 each or $20 for ten, and I decided we could manage ten rides over the next five days. I gave away a couple of rides, but we did use eight, so that was $20 well spent. Le Carrousel is in the thick of Bryant Park, not a huge one, but plenty big enough to impress small children. There was a cute little ticket booth, where I bought a punch card that I was able to redeem for tokens throughout the week (not sure why this extra step was necessary, but the gold tokens had their own charm, I suppose). The carousel was always staffed by one or two people who dealt with tickets and watched to make sure that children were attended and strapped in and that nothing went wrong during the rides. They were, as a group, friendly and efficient. The carousel didn't get busy during the week, so Leo got his pick of horses and was able to stay on for consecutive rides. There was more of a crowd on the Saturday, when we were using up his last tokens. Another parent asked us to move him off his favored horse so her kids could ride next to each other, and we obliged, only for Leo to become upset and for another full-on five-year-old to throw a loud tantrum and demand the same apparently very attractive horse. The mom who had us move then gave up the horse for this older child, and I wish everyone involved some minor indignity or discomfort for this nonsense, making my baby cry so a brat who should know better could have his way. Anyway, you can't always get what you want, and mostly, Leo did get what he wanted, which was near-daily carousel rides for an entire week. If you have a little one who loves a merry-go-round, I'd highly recommend frequent visits to Bryant Park.

It has been deemed a historic national site, as the initial carousel was built in 1903, only to be rebuilt in 1966 after a fire. It now sits in Woodhaven, Queens, restored to its former glory and awaiting children from all the borough and beyond. One wouldn't think the NY Carousel would be an underrated family activity given its history, but too many folks are unaware that it exists even now. The city has taken great steps to ensure its longevity and anyone looking for kid friendly activity or a little nostalgia has come to the right place. While it is a short ride in the natural beauty of the park, the surrounding space makes it an ideal getaway for families who want to book the space for gatherings of whatever kind. The Carousel itself is the main attraction of course, though there are other rides for kids that range from a train ride to a recently added mini ferris wheel dubbed the "Woodhaven Wheel." Ticket costs for the rides vary, but the last time I checked it was $35 for a 10-pack (i.e. $3.50 a ticket). While there are some small carnival games and story telling sessions, this is not a substitute for any major carnival / amusement park on a bigger scale in any way. Think of this as a place to kill a couple of hours with the young ones. I'd recommend bringing food in and avoiding their options (think hot dogs, small packs of chips, etc.) if at all possible. They've closed this section of the park for the rest of 2020, but I sense that in 2021 that they'll take great measures to ensure everything is safe for youngins / carefree adults to partake.
