Jesus never completed the job although he was paid in full. Jesus is very nice when you meet him, however he is highly unreliable and take advantage of his clients. He was our Gardner once a month for about six months and we hired him for a large echo friendly job in our yard. I contacted Jesus a few days after his work was scheduled to be complete in our rental home. He stated that he was sick and would finished the work soon. After another two weeks I contacted him when I noticed all of our new plants were dying. He stated that he forgot to turn on the irrigation system and would come back to finish the job as well as replace the dead plants. Our synthetic turf was installed incorrectly and is coming up on 3 edges. He used a sprayer on our deck which came out uneven and he did not stain our railing. The sprayer also left a large amount of stain on our brick wall which can't be removed. I've attempted to contact Jesus for several months and he's ignored all phone calls and text messages. When my husband called from a different number he was quick to answer and offer several excuses as to why he hasn't come back. He assured us he would return that week, however it's been an additional two months and no sign of him. Unfortunately for us, we paid him in full and he only completed 3/4 of the work. Over last couple years NMS has upgraded our yard with new fences, concrete work, garden boxes, paver stone walkways, etc. His quotes are very competitive, fair and reasonable. After building the fence and doing the absolute minimum of "landscaping," he left a giant mound of weeds, scrub bushes, and construction debris. It took several weeks worth of excuses before he finally returned and hauled away the mess. Please note, this was a year ago - but other negative reviews from this year list the same issues AND the same "out of the country on a family emergency" excuse! In the meanwhile it rained and the fence boards immediately began to warp so badly that they were popping right through the screws. When he came to haul away the debris he made no attempt to fix the popped boards, even though they were literally curling up from the fence and were very obvious. My husband finally fixed them. I had been very happy with the initial communication and the quality of the fence he built (he gets 2 stars for starting out strong). I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt that Home Depot had a really bad batch of fence boarding. But he didn't bother laying down a weed barrier before re-using some weedy gravel. After the first rain the whole area FILLED with weeds. The whole point of succulents and gravel was so that I wouldn't have to weed much. I got super lucky and ended up w/ a tenant happy to clean the area up. Now I'm using round-up - something I really didn't want to have to use. I was very disappointed because I had so much more work to be done! So he can't use the excuse that some money problem is interfering with his ability to get things done because I had taken out a home equity loan and was ready to have a huge overhaul of my landscaping done (2+ acres). It's a shame because he's a nice guy with the skills to do great work. But if you pay him up front, you risk him flaking on you. He started out doing a great job but if I had been paying attention I would have questioned the lack of a weed barrier and the poor quality of fence boards. I think my biggest mistake was paying the balance when he requested it even though the project wasn't fully completed. When will I learn??? read more

TL;DR = Didn't finish job, left trash, horrible communication. Initially seemed great. Responsive to calls, emails, texts. Got a quote, gave him a down payment of half the cost. A couple weeks go by, a big pile of wood chips appear in our front parking space. No notice, just a pile. One might assume that a pile of wood chips would be indicative of work starting soon, or an update. False. Two more weeks go by. I contact Jesus. "Oh, yeah, those were leftover from another job," and work will start "soon." Another week. Really? Yep. Work starts, looks good. But wait, there's a patch in the front yard adjacent to the driveway still not done. "Oh, yeah, we'll come back and finish that." Right. Still waiting. One side of the house borders an empty lot. He says he wants to put some of the dirt he pulls up from our yard there. Sure. It's dirt. Who cares? Well, by "putting the dirt in the lot" he meant he would move all the rocks and some stepping stones from our side yard immediately over our property line and leave it there. Not just dirt, and not "in the lot," but so close to our property line that he must be screwing with us. Some rocks were moved maybe 2 inches, but hey, they aren't on our property anymore! Numerous calls and emails later, we have not heard back. Don't waste your time with him, because he'll waste yours. And your money. And more time writing on Yelp. read more

I "inherited" an overgrown and unkempt lawn when I moved into my new place, and to say I don't have a "green thumb" is an understatement. Friends had to point out to me that what I thought was a rare yellow tree growing in a dramatic arch in my front yard-was actually something that one might call Guinness about in the "tallest weed ever" category. He does good work for the most part, but is completely unreliable. In the beginning, he sounds professional & responsible. After being hired & partially paid, he goes for periods of time when he won't respond to messages of any kind. He just disappears, then returns eventually with apologies. It took 6 months for him to finish the job he had received full payment for. If I hadn't finally gotten hold of him & threatened him, I doubt we would have ever seen him again. His excuse was that he was out of the country, in Mexico, on a family emergency & had no cell phone reception. He was "sorry." Now, that I've read another review of the same "emergency", I realize his story was just a story. Don't like being lied to. Jesus also has lost some of his subcontractors because of failure to pay them. So you have to pay them directly. Very unprofessional & awkward. I had to pay two of them directly. Nice guy, but he shouldn't be in business for himself. He needs constant supervision. read more

Mr. Nunez arrived on-time at the property to provide an estimate for yard cleanup and bark chip installation. He was thoughtful, professional and provided a reasonable estimate. He said he could begin the work within 2 weeks of that date. We asked for a written contract outlining the work to be performed, which we would sign. We received nothing that week and reminded him via text message of the request. He provided a written estimate 8 days after our initial meeting. At my request, he revised the estimate to specify minimum depth of bark chip cover. I accepted the estimate and returned it electronically as specified. Mr. Nunez acknowledged receipt and wrote that he would advise of the start date. As of yesterday - 3 weeks since signing the contract and 2 1/2 weeks past the initial job start date - there has been no response to at least 3 text messages and 2 voicemails. A final email requesting either a firm start date or disinterest in the job sent yesterday received an immediate reply apologizing for his lack of response, that he was out of the country for a family emergency and is not certain when he will return. He has been lacking cell service but occasionally gets email. We can sympathize with Mr. Nunez's situation and his failure to respond to cellphone contact while out of the country is understandable; but, a timely email would have saved this potential client a lot of time and trouble. read more

Jesus and his crew did an amazing job of installing pavers in my Pismo Beach back yard. His bid was reasonable, he accomplished the job in record time, cleaned up (including returning the pallets from delivery materials to the business location): I am extremely pleased with both his price and his work! This job required him to dig out a large hillside area to lay gravel and dg compound first, then lay out the pavers in a European pattern with three sizes of pavers, create a soldier border on both sides of the walk-way, and make sure the area has effective drainage. In addition, Jesus had to extend irrigation lines, transplant a number of kangaroo paws, and install weed block on all areas not covered by the pavers. He was on time daily, worked hard, suggested plants for a specific area that worked well with the soil and climate and added them, and finished the job on time. He is responsive and responsible. Definitely recommended these guys! Jesus is responsive, reliable, does great work and is fair. He really knows what he is doing. He did a paver project for me and gave a reasonable quote. In the process there were some surprises-- the site was not square, another header board was needed, more cuts in the pavers than needed, had to come back the next morning to finish up, but still held to his original quote. Same story as so many previous reviews. I am happy with the work Jesus did actually do but he left the job incomplete. In fact, he removed our existing functional drip system which he was going to replace with "something better." Well, he never replaced it, just left us without. So not only did he not finish what he started but he actually left us with less functional irrigation than what we had to begin with! He stopped answering phone calls, texts, emails just like with other reviewers. Anyone know how to send a carrier pigeon? Haven't tried that one yet. When I did finally reach him calling from a phone number unfamiliar to him, there were plenty of excuses and promises that he apparently never intended to keep. I don't appreciate being lied to. Definitely do not pay Jesus upfront because apparently he thinks the rest of us don't work hard for our money and that it's okay to screw us over. Better yet, just hire someone else altogether. Jesus just completed a new walkway paving project for our front yard and we are very pleased! While I had a good idea of what I wanted, he was able to help me refine the design and the finished work is great. He also helped fix a problem in the backyard, relocated plants that needed to be moved, and added a low wall that fit very well with our existing landscaping. Jesus was great for the first job he did for us on our rental property. When we put our primary house on the market we had him do a clean up as well as lay about $2500 in bark down in the front and side yard. The work was ok at best but the reason for the one star review is because he stiffed the bark vendor. She is someone we have used in the past so she called us a couple of days after the work was done to let us know Jesus gave her a credit card that was denied and he will not respond to her texts and calls.
