Suzanne and her team at Earthscapes have worked their magic on three of our properties in Los Osos for decades. My husband taught upper division Landscape Architecture at Cal Poly after having worked with an international firm for 40 years. Suzanne was one of his favorite students. When it came time to landscape our home, he called Suzanne. Recently Suzanne designed and installed two major areas around our home. It required some fairly fancy footwork of getting huge boulders into an area with very little access. The two yard areas look fabulous! To make the project even more challenging, the property is on the south end of Morro Bay ON the water so we have winds, salt air, and dare I mention deer and gophers. But gopher baskets seemed to have solved that problem and a little deer repellent seems to be keeping the deer in other yards nearby. I really appreciate Suzanne's willingness to listen and discuss ideas. I researched plant materials and she was able to get all of the ones that will grow in our climate zone. Her design concept was unique, practical and really beautiful. I love how she understands negative and positive space, colors and textures and is willing to work with a client who is actively involved in the process. Another feature of our landscape is a section with 75 roses. She understands what they need to thrive, even in our coastal environment, and has the patience to care for them as if they were her own. I have a backyard that's about 400 ft.² total had Earhscapes come by I thought they told me it would cost me 110 an hour and about four hours when I got the bill it was $880 double what I thought it was going to be and they didn't put any bark down. They didn't finish helping my drip irrigation system. I will just pull the weeds. I was going to use them to make some plans for a Planet myself and I'll buy the park myself. It's such a small plot. I can't believe they did that to me. read more

Earthscapes was in charge of maintaining our assessment district and did a TERRIBLE job. In my opinion there was no pride in their work. We paid them a lot of money for such poor performance. Often edging and weeding were not done. The grass had tons of broadleaf (obvious and big). They didn't clean up grass on sidewalks after mowing. I would never recommend them to anyone. Don't waste your time with this company. They have a lot of awards on their website but it definitely didn't show in their work. Proof is in the pictures, they speak louder than words. read more

Earthscapes performed completely unreliable, unresponsive and unmotivated work to our community housing district. I had no intention of posting a review until reading their response to the previous reviewer...it is a dishonest attempt to publicly save face. Suzanne claims they were restricted in the quality of work they could perform according to the contract, that she's totally open to communication and implies that Earthscapes would want to improve. Here are the facts: 1. Earthscapes contract with our district was not based on hourly work. In fact, there is no mention of hourly work. The entire contract lists specific jobs and how often they are to be performed. These jobs were routinely ignored. 2. To give Earthscapes a chance at improving, we tried to contact Suzanne (phone calls and emails) numerous times over the course of a year. Not one call or email was replied to. 3. One month before the contract ended, before we decided how to proceed, Earthscapes decided they did not want to rebid our contract. While reading Suzanne's response to the previous reviewer, consider...Instead of taking pride in their work and being open to communication (like she claims), Earthscapes decided to leave our district looking like the pictures I have posted. read more

Earthscapes did a fantastic job on my back yard. I hired them to install a concrete walkway, concrete patio, and place walk-on bark around the rest of the yard. Mike was up front with me at the time of the estimate that it would be a while to get started on the project. He was great at communicating with me about the project. They finished it in the time he estimated. He and his helpers were polite and professional. They did a fabulous job! I am very happy with their work and would highly recommend them. read more

After going through a series of unreliable and unprofessional landscapers and gardeners, I was fortunate to find Central Coast Earthscapes based in Los Osos. Suzanne, the owner, trains and maintains a superior staff of ambitious maintenance workers who have always arrived when expected and go way beyond what I previously experienced. I am particularly grateful to their attention to the health of my trees and plants. Several times rescuing them from fungus and infestations of various sorts. The staff always asks if there any special areas to be addressed. They love what they do and know what they are doing. I my opinion the monthly fee is well worth the satisfaction I feel when I look at my garden and receive complements from neighbors and passers by. read more

I am a commercial property manager in San Luis Obispo and have worked with many of the landscape companies on the properties I manage. Suzanne Morrison and Earthscapes set the gold standard for monthly service. They are price competitive and go beyond what most others provide in terms of how well they maintain all of the growth. They understand how to operate and maintain our irrigation systems and minimize our use of water. They are pro-active in trying to save my property owners money. What stands out most is their responsiveness to anything in particular asked of them. I never have to ask twice! They offer great suggestions to enhance and update the property based on a wealth of experience. Their attention to detail does not wane over time as it has with many other landscape contractors. Doesn't deserve a 1 star. Had her come out to my house to get an estimate late March and she called to ask me if she could come out an hour later. I agreed and she showed up an hour and twenty minutes later. We discussed some ideas and she told me she would get back with my wife and I early next week. My wife emailed her and she replied she was in Cayucos and would stop by to get some pics and finish up an estimate and have it to us next week. Since then I had another company do the job. Well I'm still waiting for that estimate. If you don't want the work just say so , there plenty of people needing the work. I guess my cash wasn't green enough for her. read more

Like most low-end landscape maintenance services, Earthscapses makes a lot of promises to get the account, the initial work is good, but then soon slides into a frustrating pattern of non-performance and ignoring prior instructions and promises. Despite the fact we have repeatedly indicated water conservation was an important goal for our home-owners' association, the water use has increased. The staff continues to increase the water applications to the lawn to the point that it is harming our very large olive trees. We have lost many plants due to overwatering. The staff has no training on the appropriate pruning of shrubbery, using hedge trimmers to indiscriminately box native plants into plants that will never have their natural shape again. Attempts at addressing it with the owner and management bring zero change. The quality of the work continues to worsen. They are polite and show up on time. If those are the main priorities for your landscaping service, then Earthscapes is for you. Otherwise, use another service. read more
