The property surrounding our new house was a blank slate when we moved in. We hired Madrone to design and build what has turned out to be a beautiful oasis. Romy and his crew were all master craftsmen. They did everything from the drainage, lighting, irrigation, building a gabbion wall, concrete paver patio and walkways, all the plantings, and even a redwood pergola. Everything is top notch. Madrone listened to our desires and observed our surroundings. From that input they created a landscape and hardscape plan that blended our existing home with the 1 acre of land that now includes an outdoor kitchen, fire pit, Pavillion and sitting area. I met with and interviewed five different companies for a major remodel of my backyard before deciding on Madrone Landscape. They were the best based on (1) information on their website (2) responsiveness to my inquiry (3) completeness of bid that included design, budget, installation. Working with Daniel, Tyler, David and his crew was a pleasure despite my concerns with taking on such a financial investment. They listened to my ideas and concerns, came up with some great ideas and all of them were pleasant and professional throughout the process. I had a 20-year old retaining wall behind my house that fell over last winter, leaving an incredible mess and no clear way to remedy it. It's really long; 3/4 of the way across my 1/3 acre property. The failure was coming close to the house, and here comes the rain. I didn't know where to go. I knew that Madrone was a legitimate business with licensing and good reviews, so I went there. They completed a totally functional (no fuss as requested) plan for the problems I had, and provided me with an estimate. I was pretty nervous when they started, due to the difficulty of the work that needed to be done. However, there was no drama at all. They showed up every day on time with incredibly smart, hardworking people. They were also amazingly nice and funny, and I'm going to miss them now that they're gone. A few weeks later (can't use equipment here) I had two incredible retaining walls which are able to keep the house where the house goes, with stair access below and the front yard where the front yard goes. I couldn't be happier, and it's a huge relief! I will use Madrone Landscape again for anything I need in the future. read more

Madrone has done it again!! They are ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!! Seven years ago they designed and installed both our front and back yards and now, since we wanted to change up the design in front, they've done it again. Just the way we want it. That's what I appreciate the most. Their designers really listen to what you want. They may make some suggestions but they will deliver what YOU want. Our designer, Jill, came out, saw what our issues were, listened to the kind of design we wanted and took it from there. Along the way, she made a couple of suggestions which turned out to be perfect opportunities to improve the appearance and maintenance of our front yard. She came back with a design that addressed our wants and needs with the first drawing. Then, David and his crew came out and had the install done it what seemed to be no time. And, once again, we couldn't be happier with the result. It's exactly what we wanted. I can honestly say, I don't know why anyone would look elsewhere if you are interested in getting landscaping the way YOU want and having it installed perfectly. Madrone is the best. read more

We needed a fenced-in area in our backyard for our new puppy and we needed it relatively quick. Madrone Landscape was able to accommodate our schedule. They completed our project in the time-frame we requested. We were out of town when they did the work so we were very pleased to come home to a fence built just as we had requested. Madrone has also been doing maintenance on our property. We only come to Paso about once a month so it is wonderful to come home to a well maintained property - no weeds, no leaves in the driveway, etc. We love the work our Madrone maintenance team does. read more

Madrone took on a HUGE project at our house...we went from miles and miles of grass to a drought-tolerant landscape, a raised bed garden for veggies and cut flowers, and a pool. They took every one of our ideas and "whims" into account and came up with a plan we are thrilled with. They labored over every flower, every plant, and every tree to make sure they got it just right. Everything from making the raised beds to be a foot taller than normal because we are tall people with bad backs to building our dog's needs/potty areas into the plan to working around our existing chicken coop by fencing the chicken yard for free-ranging. Daniel and Danah were our designers and they came out to the house may times to work with us. They were very helpful and excellent to work with. Madrone also worked with the pool guys schedule and they came up with an aesthetically pleasing design for the pool and surrounding landscape. When it was time to execute, demo, and rebuild the guys were great! Ian was our project manager and he did a great job with his crew. The guys worked so hard through a lot sun and a few days of rain and kept to a schedule. They were really courteous, understanding of our time and our comings and goings. We trusted them implicitly and were very happy with their professionalism. As promised they said they would be done by Jan. 1, 2015 and other than a few final tweaks, they pulled away on Dec. 31st. We HIGHLY recommend Madrone Landscapes. Our yard is stunning and we couldn't be happier with the results! read more

They kept open communication through each step of the project, including consistent and predictable work hours ensuring this project was completed within the time-line committed. The business owner, Rick Matthews came over and discussed landscaping problems which were primarily problems with the drip system. Within a week he sent over two young men who spent 1 1/2 hours fixing the drip line, which is not easy on a steep slope, thick shrubs and wraps around the whole house. Now this may not seem like much, but I have hired numerous people over the past 8 years to do the same thing, and I have never had water flow on two sides of the house; and have ended up doing most of the repair work myself.
