PetSmart is a great store if you're looking for a large selection, however they can be quite pricey…read morefor the quality of goods you get. I have been shopping at PetSmart for many years now, and I find that they are definitely one of those companies that cares more for the bottom line than their customer's needs. Employees are generally friendly, but are not very knowledgeable; be very weary of any advice they give you especial concerning pet food and aquariums. I have attempted to give them the benefit of the doubt however I have found that my repeated attempts to give them a second chance have left me wishing that I had moved on to another store years ago. I am an avid pet owner and an aquarium hobbyist, and I have to say that a lot of their products are not only inferior but potentially dangerous. Their fish stock is sickly and I have often seen tanks that contain more dead fish than live ones. Fish that are not deceased are often diseased, sporting fin rot, fungal infections, and parasites such as gill flukes or camallanus worms. I have often pointed out these infections to employees who assure me that they will "fix the problem" however upon returning to the store a few days later the same fish are generally still for sale with the exact same diseases. Employee incompetence also extends to other sections of the store. PetSmart employees are quick to recommend their own brand when asked about pet food, often providing customers with potentially dangerous medical advice that should really only be provided by registered veterinarians. Furthermore PetSmart's prices are often exorbitant when compared to other local pet stores. On one occasion I entered PetSmart in search of a suitable corrugated cardboard scratching device for our foster kittens only to be shocked when many of said devices were priced at over 20 dollars! Considering that the cardboard cat scratching pads often last less than two months I found this price to be incredibly unreasonable. Feeling disappointed (and sad for our foster kittens) I searched around and found that the store Home Sense (which is located right next door to PetSmart) sells the exact same product for the much more reasonable price of 12 dollars. On another occasion, I asked an employee for a recommendation of cat toys that are suitable for young kittens and I was directed towards some small sisal ball cat toys. Upon bringing them home I was shocked to find that the balls were of such low quality that the tiny kittens were able to not only destroy them within a few short hours, but also unravel their string wrappings which could easily have lead to an extremely expansive veterinary bill due to intestinal blockages! Overall, while PetSmart does support a great selection of products, I would not generally recommend them as a business as the products are overpriced, the staff are incompetent, and their practices are amoral. Best to avoid them altogether!

We have been Rens customers for five years and recently they change their website and asked all…read moresubscription customers to re-enter all of their information and re-order their subscriptions. I did everything right and did what they asked, and paid for my $90 dog food as I always do, but was sent the wrong order. I tried to dispute this but they wanted me to bring the incorrect items to a store to return them for a refund, when I wasn't charged for these incorrect items, I was charged for the dog food I never received. I emailed back right away and their customer service has not not been responding to me. I have been loyal and respectful, but I have had it. They did not offer me the food I paid for nor did they even offer me a refund. Extremely disappointed with their customer service for an issue THEY created not even me...will NEVER shop here again and am disputing the charges with my bank. They have lost a customer that spends thousands here every year with their lack of care!

I have shopped a lot for Acana food and its pretty much the same price every where. Our Baxter has…read morea good appetite he is a mix of two large breeds and hes 100 pounds of bounding puppy. We actually switched to Kirklands brand its half the price and just as good. Acana uses corn as a filler which the animals and humans alike can not digest. I did not like that. So ee switched. However the price at Ren's is the same from Amazon and they deliver.

I will never return to Hespeler Animal Hospital. It is a little money making factory, and I'm…read morecertain that they care more about their bottom line than they do about pets. I took my dog to see Dr. Louise Langlais for a routine checkup and vaccination. At the time he was about a year and a half old, and had not yet been neutered. He also had some crowding of his teeth and required some dental extractions. Dr. Langlais was absolutely certain to write a DETAILED quote which explicitly laid out what I could expect to pay to have my dog neutered, and about 10 of his tiny little baby teeth removed (for they record, he was a cryptorchid, meaning that he had an undescended testicle, which is a slightly more complicated procedure). She also took plenty of time to "educate" me about what would happen to my dog if he didn't get neutered (higher risk of cancer, among other things) or didn't have the extractions done (he'd end up with gum disease, tooth decay, loose teeth, bleeding gums... blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!) Scare tactics basically. The quote... over $4800!!! He's a chihuahua!!!!!!!!!! He's tiny! I was in complete SHOCK! Shock! Really?! Oh, but wait! If you can't afford a $5K bill, Dr. Langlais still has a solution for you! She practically chased me into the parking lot with a financing application. That way I could go into debt to pay for her over priced services in her over priced clinic. I left sad, scared, depressed, and feeling like a horrible human being thinking that I would never be able to afford to get my dog neutered or have his extra baby teeth taken out. If I could give this place a ZERO, I would. My first visit to this clinic was also my last, but it certainly wasn't the last time I heard from them. Nooooooooooooo.... I've been getting courtesy reminders for the last 2 years letting me know that my pet is due for his vaccines and really should come in for a check up. Ya, right! I have a NICE, new vet! And just for the record, I did find another vet where I did take my doggie for his neuter and dental work. It came to just under $1200 for a cryptorchid neuter, 10 extractions and a full dental checkup and cleaning. Phew! I'm not a bad person after all.

I brought my dog in to see the vet, she had a problem with her toe and it needed to be amputated…read more Was quoted $1200. Went to seeanother vet, he quoted $350 and when the sugery was done it was acutally less than the quote. Also took 2 dogs in to get rabies shots, didn't want anything else, but I had to pay for the shots anyway. As far as I am concerned that should be illegal. Found a wonderful vet,who happens to be her ex husband. So glad I made the switch.
