This is the green pepper steak with pork fried rice and egg roll
Buffy T.

We ate there for the first time and I can say I did get full. The pepper steak was good but the rice and eggs roll were extremely bland, no taste at all. Had to add soy sauce to get flavor. But the food was hot and fresh.

Shredded Pork lunch special. Comes with large soup.

On price and value, five stars. On food, I'd say two stars. The food was dirt cheap but so were the ingredients of the food. I ate all of my pulled pork with garlic sauce and it seemed to be fairly healthy. I was really turned off at the end of the meal when transferring my daughters sesame chicken to a to go container. It was a gelatinous mess. Yuck. I had tasted a piece of her chicken before doing that and the quality seemed pretty poor. But what can you expect with such a low price. I'd surely go back but would stick with the lighter dishes.

Best to Order Chinese Food in Paducah. Comfortable dining area. Biggest portions, fresh and fast. I recommend the Dragon and Phoenix.

C36. Chicken Lo Mein Dinner Combination

I'd heard about Number 1 for years and finally decided to wander in and get a carry out order today. I wish I'd tried this earlier! Had a chicken lo mein lunch plate that came with fried rice and an egg roll and was pleasantly surprised by both the portion size and the taste. All three were quite good and so was the sauce that came with it, all for less than $10 out the door.

Beef Chow Mein

When trying to review the quality of the meal I received with the ownership at this restaurant, the one female owner behind the cash register had one recommendation. Do you like to travel? go to China, they have good food in China". Does that mean that she understood why I complained about the meals we received tonight? Did she just confess to the fact that I would not be receiving good food from this restaurant. I have dined at many different Chinese restaurants in the United States, but this goes down as the worst experience ever. We ordered the Beef Chow Mein and the Beef with Vegetables and neither were good. Even though the Beef with vegetables had a nice assortment of vegetables, they were way undercooked, almost raw, and the sauce was not sufficient for this dish and the beef was not tender and had sinew running through some pieces. The Beef Chow Mein should actually be relabeled Onion Chow Mein, because it actually looked like and tasted like 90% onion. I was told that it had Napa cabbage, but it was not discernible. I actually enjoy Mongolian Beef in most restaurants, which has a very high percentage of onion, but I hated this dish. I have one recommendation, take the Chow Mein dishes off the menu. The best Chow Mein I have ever tasted, was a dish called Beef Subgum Chow Mein with Almonds and Mushrooms made famous by a small restaurant chain called the Jong Mea in Mansfield, Ohio that served Cantonese style Chinese food. I believe the dish had green pepper, celery, bamboo shoots, sliced water chestnuts, whole blanched almonds skin off, mushrooms, good quality beef, and a great sauce, plus the best egg rolls on the planet. My family would travel the 25 miles on weekends to eat at this restaurant when I was growing up in Ohio. Jong Mea is probably why I enjoy trying different kinds of foods to this day, because of the wonderful experience dining there. Just recently, while doing some research online for this old restaurant, I found that they had once owned restaurants in Columbus Ohio, Mansfield Ohio, Indianapolis Indiana, and Houston Texas at the same time. The lines at some of these restaurants use to stretch out the door and down the street. I now know that this restaurant will never need to worry about having that many customers. I have one recommendation for any future customers. Ask question prior to ordering, to limit the surprise you may get from the food served from this location. A sample question might goes as follows? Excuse me, but what vegetables are in the Beef Chow Mein? If it, meaning the ingredients doesn't sound good, then it probably is not, and you should steer clear! Buyer beware....... Wow... I cannot believe this place has an average review of 4 1/2 stars.

This is a photo of my dash. It was the food that we called in an hour ago that they never bothered to make.

When it comes to Chinese buffet it's always pretty kick standard fare. But on a whim and with the…read morepangs of hunger for Chinese in my very cells I walked into Chong's looking for an acceptable meal. It was lunch and the buffet was apparently all anyone was ordering so the staff knew what to ask and then went about their business. I walked to the buffet and immediately was saddened because my old mainstay of orange chicken wasn't there. Oh well, they had some battered and fried chicken so I went to look and to my amazement I saw something I had never seen. This was the fried chicken intended to be sweet and sour chicken, but...it was being kept separate from the sauce. I have never seen this before but I instantly fell in love with this idea. Keeping the chicken separate allows the breeding to stay crunchy and also keeps it from tasting like a bucket of syrup with some chicken inside. Then I grabbed some beef and broccoli and some fried noodles (also a rarity in the buffet circuit). It was all pretty tasty. The white rice should have been in a steamer being kept hot so that was a little bit of a let down and there was not much variety. The beef and broccoli was pretty good though. It wasn't too sweet, the beef and the broccoli were well cooked (not over, not under) and there were real varieties of vegetables. They were also serving ham fried rice which I have never seen but I didn't try it cause I'm not that into pork. I would have liked to have seen some other choices but what can you expect from the $7 lunch buffet? The thing that really got me was the owners attention to the food. She was making the rounds and cleaning up every scrap of rice or crumb that had been left and basically cleaning up. Then I noticed that she was also checking the freshness of everything there. She came to the dish of breaded chicken and removed all the ones that didn't meet her approval with a fork. I really have never seen this kind of attention placed on a buffet line and I was highly impressed. So, bottom line, the food isn't amazing but it's not bad, it's clean and their preparation practices make me confident that everything I grab at the buffet is at least pretty fresh.

I really like the fact that they seem to cook as they go, just don't fill up the trays and let them sit for hours as most do. Good service, great food!! Will go back. Roaches are everywhere and a very rude man in his sixties at least acts like it is the customer's fault for even wanting to eat and "if you don't approve then don't pick this restaurant" he acted angry I wanted water and said I should be charged for water. Never one time did this man wash his hands. He had told another customer that they do not get tips because the owners do and he was trying to get help hired. If he is angry he doesn't get tips then he should quit rather than pretend he owns it and stay away from the innocent kids. He was very attentive to a table with children acting as though they shouldn't be able to even be there yet made it a point to spend a lot of time at the table with children complaining about them and every thing they did yet wouldn't get away from them. After leaving I realized why after a friend pointed out his history with children. This should never be allowed for registered child predators. I am angry this is allowed. The victim is 13 and he is 32.
