Good manicure but bad customer service! I came in to get one thing, but left with something completely different because the owner is so pushy! My opinion is that reminds me of a used car salesman because he is constantly up-selling and pushy. Everything I suggested, he rolled his eyes and said no I should do something different. He said "I've been doing this for 20 years" and "These will be the best nails you have ever gotten" at least 20 times during the hour I was there. He went on and on and on about how good he was and how bad and inexperienced all the other nail salons in paso are. It seemed unprofessional, and really annoying. In the end my nails looked good, even though they were not what I wanted, which is why I'm not giving one star.(but they are by far not the best nails I've ever had!) I'm assuming someone who is not as shy/passive as me would not have a problem with this salon, but the last thing I want is to go into a salon for a relaxing experience and then have to argue with the owner about what I want, and then to have to listen to him talk about how awesome he thinks he is for an hour! A great business owner listens to his customers and then goes out of his way to make that customer happy. when customers are happy, they come back to spend more money! UPDATE: I'm not looking to have an argument with the owner. Owners will say what they need to, and its his word against mine. I'm an intelligent 27 year old girl that knows how to take care of her nails and wouldn't "mess them up" on purpose like a dumb fool. The statement about "how short my nails can go" might give you a glimpse on how much YOUR opinion will be listened to here. I guess before I came in, I also didn't know how to take care of my nails. Ill try to upload pictures of my own pedicures and the one done here. Ill let the customers be the judge. So I don't always review but I really wanted to review this nail salon. I have gotten pedicures, acrylics and gel manicure at different salons. Firstly I want to say I have gone to nail salons all over California and even in different countries and theres always certain things I expect when I get a pedicure. I will review in terms of comparing to other pedicures I have gotten. The atmosphere is stunning. They have done an amazing job with decorations, entertainment and ambiance. There was only the owner there at the time and he was very nice. Works hard for his business and really aims to do his best. Really admired his effort. I was sat down into a chair and he went ahead and put the movie from the start so I could watch it. Someone walked into the salon (a male), signaled something to him and he said I'll be back. I actually 100% positive he was gone for more than 10 minutes with me alone at the salon just sitting in the chair. I had decided to get a manicure as well as it was pedi and mani for 30 so hands were placed into bowls. This was the first time I have gotten a manicure. Overall the pedicure was enjoyable until we got to my heels. This PISSED ME OFF. I mean it just really made me angry. He said ok we need to upgrade you to other package only $5/10 (don't remember amount) more. I asked why? and he responded because your heels are too bad you haven't gotten a pedicure in a long time so we will need to upgrade to the next package, its no big deal only a little bit more.. blah blah. NO, i responded and we went back and forth and i said NO, no thank you. Do not take me for a fool or abuse my business to you. never in my life in 100s of pedicure has someone said they would not do my heels because I will not upgrade the package - disgraceful. Honest no lie - he ran over the heel once - that was it and left it at that. I didn't say anything either since i didn't agree to "upgrade" I asked to trim my nails shorter. He said sure. Didn't happen. Another business move - I mean doesn't your customer return quicker then? (not a fool to this behavior either) Lastly, OPI nail polish lasts. I mean it really lasts 3 weeks AT LEAST. Its been a week and its already off most of the toes. The nail polish wasn't applied to the edge (which most salons do) either. I asked for flowers and the stone came off a flower within 1 day. I will never ever do a manicure again- that was the first and last time. Fingers socked. nail file passed over once or twice (no shaping). nail polish applied. No top coat what so ever. One nail went bad while I was sitting there - he fixed it - when I got home it was ruined again. I use seche vite when I apply nails and my nail polish is perfect and shining for over a week - should have saved my 10 dollars and gone to buy another bottle of that! I gave them a honest chance. I read reviews. I am a secret shopper by profession so I do honest good reviews and I depend on people's. I can say other places like Nice nails and this one across bank of america on spring street are two salons that are FAR better and charge the same prices!!! Sorry but I would never return nor recommend to my family or friends. This is no way an attack on the owner - he was very nice. But being a business woman myself I respect he is trying hard to earn for his family but that doesn't mean you should take advantage of your customers. Explain what they will get done before they start (I would have skipped the mani and opted for the upgrade in pedi), listen to your customers when they request things (like trim nails), and don't leave your customer to sit and wait for you as you leave the location (not professional). read more

GEL NAIL FRAUD. RIP OFF. OWNER CHARGED ME $40 FOR GEL NAILS BUT ACTUALLY JUST PAINTED ACRILYIC ON MY NAILS. He told me that the gel would be good for my nails because my nails were weak from an acrilyic set. Come to find out from a professional that all he did was put layers of acrilyic powder on them which damaged them even more. He was telling me how good the gel would be as he was using the acrilyic. Cannot believe that the owner would lie and take advantage of me to save himself either money or time. The REAL gel nails I recieved were only $30. We were in Paso Robles on business and found this salon by chance. Alex is AMAZING!! We came back 3 times and anytime I am back in Paso Robles I will only go to him. I am yet to find such a great place to get pedicures. I have had difficulty keeping my feet from drying out and Alex gave me the works. After 2 pedicures my feet are baby soft!! I WISH he would open a location down here in Ventura. I would definitely be his biggest customer!! We also got great eyebrow waxing services there!! I promised my cousin a pedicure on her birthday so i made an appointment at Number 1 Nails (STUPID! Now i know). After sitting in the chair for 30 minutes and getting all gross and wrinkly when they said they weren't busy (they had three people waiting and two people already doing there nails while we waited) I called Angels in the chair and made a walk in appointment. I visited this nail salon with my mother in law who lives in Paso. I live in Southern California and at first was pretty impressed with the nail shop. After being there for 2 hours I was over the owner telling me over and over and over again about how great his business was and how I should give them a great review on Yelp. He was way to pushy, not that he was mean or anything, just found it very annoying when you have to practically beg for a good review on Yelp. My feet are dry and heals crack easily. He kept making comments about how this was the best pedicure I had ever had....didn't have the heart to tell him that I've had great pedicures in the past who actually gave a great foot massage. Their sign advertised Mani/Pedi for $30....after all the "special treatments" he went ahead and gave me it came up to $55!!! RIDICULOUS....I could have paid a few dollars more for just the calus remover and had the exact same results...I know because I get pedicures all the time. Maybe I should explain...the 2 hours we were there most of it was spent running between other customers as I sat there with my feet in water that had turned cold. I did not get a 2 hour mani/pedi.....more like a 25 minute mani/pedi and the rest of the time I spent waiting. read more

I go here quite often and the two owners are so nice. I bring my daughter with me as well and they have a chair especially for children. They offer her a drink and cookies, they also have a tablet with headphones that is attached to the children's chair. This is an awesome place to come if you have a child ( probably 5 yrs or older) who likes to get their nails done too. I'm always satisfied with how my nails turn out. I am new to the area, and I agree with Judy's review. 1 on 1 attention is not given, and although the prices are decent it took far too long for a manicure after I had 2 different people attending me and 3 other's at the same time. I was recently in Paso and had some time to kill so I decided to get a manicure. I looked up a few places on Yelp and this place looked good so I decided to give it a try, boy did I make a mistake! This place is by far the worst nail salon I have ever been to. When I walked in I was greeted and asked to pick a color and wait. The man who greeted me was the only person in there and was working on someone else. I sat there for quite some time unacknowledged. After a while another employee came in and started on my nails. The table she sat me at looked like it hadn't been cleaned in over a week. She had me lay my hand over a dirty cotton dispenser and started filing my nails, no warm water for them to soak in first. When I came time to trim my cuticles she grabbed a pair on nippers off the table next to her. GROSS! They were not sterilized of anything! I should have walked out right then, my mistake. I got the impression that the employees like to get people in and then out as quickly as possible. My manicure was not relaxing or enjoyable at all and It chipped the very next day, and at $15 for a regular manicure! If you are looking for a nail salon I would STRONGLY encourage you to find some place else. Save your time and money! read more

This is absolutely the worst nail salon I have ever visited. I have natural nails, so maybe this salon is not for those who don't use acrylics. The smell, as another reviewer mentioned, was overpowering and noxious, and the service was worse. I just moved to the area from out of state (Denver) and wanted to get OPI Gelish polish removed. The owner was very rude and tried to tack on additional services several times before finally allowing me to have my polish removed. Then, he proceeded to use a dremel to rough up the polish (on natural nails!) and then soaked my entire hand in pure acetone for 20 minutes. He left in the middle and never came back and another employee came over finally and scraped it off with a metal tool (also damaging the nail). When I said that's not how the polish is removed and tried to stop him, he snidely said, "You're in California now." I have had this polish removed in Denver, NYC, Atlanta, Boston, and Las Vegas, and not a single person does this crazy method that dries your hands and ruins your nails while acting condescending. Everyone takes a cotton pad soaked with acetone and affixes it to just the nail with a strip of tin foil, lets it sit for 10 minutes, then easily scrapes it off with a plastic tool that won't damage nails. I don't know what the deal is with these other reviews, but NEVER go here. I certainly won't again. read more

First time visiting a nail salon in the area. I jut moved here from Southern Cali... Got a regular mani/pedi, no artistic polish or anything it came out $35 which is pretty pricey in comparison to So Cal and THAT was a "special". The salon was great, it was beautifully decorated and really modern and relaxing. The employees were great, they were very friendly. It was pretty cool that everything that was used was disposable, but the actual mani pedi was okay. Massage on hands and lower legs was okay. The pedicure was the big reason I went to the salon, it wasn't as thorough as it should've been and was pretty mediocre. They do have a lavender scrub, but it kinda hurts. IDK if they were trying to kinda massage while the scrub was on, but it was pretty painful. I miiight try them for acrylic nails, but NEVER for a mani/pedi. I'll look elsewhere or just get them done when I visit Southern California. For the great salon and employees, I was really expecting a ridiculously awesome mani/pedi. I had one in Grover Beach and it was cheaper and way better, but still not quite what I'm lookin for. read more
