The atmosphere was lively, the waitresses and waiters were helpful, and the drinks were great. We would definitely come back again. Food: 1. Fish and Chips: The dish was well cooked and had great flavours. The fish was crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. Would recommend. 2. Veggie Burger: The beets and sauce inside the burger really gave it a nice flavour. Would recommend. 3. AAA Alberta Beef Melt: The beef slices were very tender and melted in my mouth. The au jus was well seasoned and tasted great with the sandwich. Would highly recommend. 4. Cod Tacos: The fish was well cooked, but lacked some flavour and tasted bland. 5. Heid Out Burger: The BBQ sauce had a nice flavour, but the beef patty itself was a little under seasoned. 6. Char Siu Beef Wrap: The portion size was good and the enoki mushroom had a great favour. The beef however, lacked some flavour and tasted bland. 7. Spicy Pickle Sticks: Well seasoned and the pickles were still crispy. Paired well with the cider. Drink: 1. Red roof cider: This was probably one of the best cider I've tasted. It was a little on the sweet side, but I would still recommend it. 2. Flight of Beer: A great way to taste some of the restaurant's beers. Atmosphere: Lively and a good spot to relax after a long day of work. Service: The staff were very friendly and the food came fast.

It's a cute little bistro and has a great deal of charm. It is not too fancy but the ambiance is very warm and welcoming and the tables are nicely spaced so you can have a good conversation with your companion. The service was good. We shared an order of prawns with chili, ginger and garlic butter and they were very good. Bread was brought to the table before our appetizers arrived and it was lovely. I kept some of the bread for dipping into the sauce from the prawns. For entrees my husband ordered the tenderloin with huckleberry and morel mushrooms on a red wine au jus. It was very good but slightly over salted. It's a good thing that we don't automatically salt our food before tasting. I had the special of the evening - a pork steak topped with pancetta and brie and it was outstanding. The assortment of vegetables served with our meals was also very good. My husband said he liked my entrée more than his. For dessert we shared a limoncello cheesecake. It was a good ending to the meal as it was very light and refreshing. It was a most enjoyable evening.

Serving staff are friendly and pretty efficient, so drinks and food show up pretty quickly. The 10 oz ribeye steak is pretty good. Properly cooked, it is a good quality cut, minimally seasoned so the beef flavor shines, served with standard sides. The burgers are also pretty good - decent size, cooked nicely, with plenty of toppings to stretch your jaws nicely. The salmon is parchment is surprisingly good - you don't expect really good seafood in Cranbrook, but here it is! Light, tender and flaky, it vanishes quickly. All in all, I enjoyed the food and atmosphere here, and would recommend Rockwater to anyone looking for a decent meal and a good drink.

DISMAL service at the Rockwater Steakhouse and not so tasty food…read more I had went there earlier today for lunch with a small group of friends. They ordered the fettuccine specials, and I had ordered the quesadilla special. The fettuccine specials according to them were really bland to the point my friends almost felt the need to douse their pasta in in salt and pepper(though they didn't)... and the quesadilla itself was not something I would order again. My meal was a quesadilla with no visible cheese and soaked in salsa until soggy.. and if you are sensitive to spicy food, I suggest not having this dish for lunch as I got almost instant heartburn from the salsa. Here's where the service went downhill... I had told the waitress that I did not like my lunch, and all she said was "it's no good" and walked away with my 2 bites missing plate in hand, with not even so much as "is there something else I could get you?" My friends finished their lunches as I sat there and waited. A few minutes later the waitress (whom I am not sure I am allowed to name on here) asks if we want our bills together or seperate, then she came back with them and handed me my bill at FULL price... My friends and I proceeded to the till where I asked the waitress why she's billing me for food I never ate; and all she said in a snarky tone was "there's nothing I can do about it" and insisted I pay the bill. I told her I was not paying for food I did not eat and asked for the manager. She then told me the manager was not there and that she could get the assistant manager. I agreed for her to get the assistant manager, and a few moments later he was at the till where I told him what happened. He told her to void my bill and leave a note for the manager explaining what had happened. (Kudos for the assistant manager for doing what's right) Thinking I was finally done there I proceeded to leave.. where just short of chasing me out the door she(the waitress) rudely told me I didn't have the meal so I had to pay $3.14 for the pop I drank... Wow, what great customer service!! Not even so much as I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your lunch. I paid for my drink and then left. I will not ever be returning to this establishment, and neither will my friends. I hope that pop was worth the number of customers you lost.

Our server was also the owner and he is an absolutely charming man with a great sense of humour. He took very good care of us. It was almost like eating at a friend's home. I had the breakfast special 2 slices of bacon, sausage or ham, 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast and hashed brown potatoes for $6.99. My husband had a build you own omelette. All the food was excellent, the bacon was cooked crisp as requested, hashed brown potatoes were also nice and crisp. My husband's omelette was also very good. Instead of prepackaged jams the breakfast came with home made strawberry/rhubarb jam and marmalade. They were so good that we bought a bottle of the jam to take with us. It is very good value for the money. Thank you for giving us such a great start to our day - Mel and first wife.

I tried one of the homemade jams and it was delicious. I just didn't like how the owner tried to rip us off by overcharging on the kids meal when my kids were clearly under 5. Washrooms are very small; there was no change table so this restaurant isn't exactly 100% kid friendly. Just make sure you pay attention to your bill. The owner also tried to charge a larger bill to the wrong table for the people before us. That is too bad because our server was really friendly and nice. Overcharging us left really a bad taste in my mouth. I would have given this place a 4 out of 5 stars otherwise.
