In Cranbrook for a single night while on a roadtrip so we decided to try R&B for breakfast based on a reviwe that loved the marmalade. The Food and service were great. The hash browns were world class, and the owner apologized for them! He said they were a bit more mushy than he liked. Wevisited with him for awhile. He's clearly passionate and devoted to making the best food he can. The location is a bit industrial. We weren't sure if we were going to stay based on the outside appearance. But we're glad we did. We had a good lunch here a few years ago and decided to stop for breakfast on our way to the Osoyoos. Our server was also the owner and he is an absolutely charming man with a great sense of humour. He took very good care of us. It was almost like eating at a friend's home. I had the breakfast special 2 slices of bacon, sausage or ham, 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast and hashed brown potatoes for $6.99. My husband had a build you own omelette. All the food was excellent, the bacon was cooked crisp as requested, hashed brown potatoes were also nice and crisp. My husband's omelette was also very good. Instead of prepackaged jams the breakfast came with home made strawberry/rhubarb jam and marmalade. They were so good that we bought a bottle of the jam to take with us. Burgers (bacon cheeseburger) were good. Kids' meal selection is alright; reasonably priced for around $5 each. You can easily get a meal under $15 a person before taxes and gratuity. I tried one of the homemade jams and it was delicious. I just didn't like how the owner tried to rip us off by overcharging on the kids meal when my kids were clearly under 5. Washrooms are very small; there was no change table so this restaurant isn't exactly 100% kid friendly. Just make sure you pay attention to your bill. The owner also tried to charge a larger bill to the wrong table for the people before us. That is too bad because our server was really friendly and nice. Overcharging us left really a bad taste in my mouth. I would have given this place a 4 out of 5 stars otherwise. read more

I came here while I was visiting Cranbrook. I checked out the yelp reviews before I came and was looking forward to a mom & pop diner. Anyway, I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was not medium as I requested, the food was bland and the service was poor. People who came after me go their food AND finished it before I got mine. Besides the hours being absolutely ridiculous, the times I have attempted to eat there we were ignored for 30 minutes while people who came after got service before us. After one of our favorite breakfast places recently closed, the need to find a new one became important. We immidiately fell in love with this cozy family restaurant. The highlight, of course being the homemade jams, is conveniently located in squirting bottles, which makes it convenient to poor onto the toast. It is also very tasty, and so are the home made dishes. The eggs are cooked well, the hash browns are tasty and the bacon is crisp and tasty. The restaurant is always clean and the service efficient. The price is fair and won't leave you with a bad taste. The ambiance is welcoming, especially when the first person you see is one of the owners. The only downside to the place is that it is not open after mid afternoon. This has officially now become our favorite breakfast nook, and we have and will continue to return. read more

Our first and last visit. We should have turned around and left as soon as we got there. The guy at the front just looked at us without a hint of a smile or welcome, he looked hostile, even when we smiled and said hi. He finally gave us 2 menus and said find a clean table. The place only had customers at 2 other tables. After seating ourselves and having time to decide what to order, the place cleared out and in comes a party of over 15. They got seated and the server proceeded to take their orders. We sat there watching and figured we were screwed as far as getting served, and if we finally got our orders in, we would have a long wait, so we walked out. Went here for breakfast with my Canadian family, and the experience was not very good!! I'll say one positive to begin with: the jam is excellent!! The food and service,however, were another story!! We were greeted with a grunt, and told to seat ourselves. When our drinks were served, they were served with the hand over the glass not around the glass. The shocking part, however, was that as they were served we were told in an angry voice that we were Trump lovers!! The owners exact quote was, "That's a lot of thank yous from a bunch of Trump lovers!!" This was followed up by a long and angry discussion with another diner on domestic politics!! I really wish I could have ordered some silence with my meal!! To make a long story short, don't go here unless you are a jam addict, and even then bring some thick skin and earplugs!! read more

We had great friendly service and the food was delicious! Definitely skip Denny's- because eww! My man had the number 1 and I had a build your own omelette which I made Denver style. They didn't skimp on cheese and the hash browns were a lovely crisp outside and soft inside. Our favorite jam was the strawberry and boy was it good! Great breakfast place, also has burgers and other diner type food. The jam served with toast is home made strawberry and orange marmalade which is tasty and very home made. Nothing fancy inside, has 80s decor, but food is very fresh, the staff friendly. My wife is picky about her food and she loved her omlette. Definitely highly recommend if you are in the area or passing through. read more
