The staff and ambiance were great. The food was really sub-par. When we walked in we loved the decor and it wasn't too busy at all. We were seated immediately. Our server was nice. The Black Magic beer was awesome, but that is pretty much where it stops. Tuna Poke: Soggy pile of "poke" and came with those little crackers. Honestly, now that so many places do poke so well I'm actually surprised when I get something like this. This is the poke of 2017, not the poke of 2020. It was saturated in sauce making it very salty. We had about three bites and just left it. Not going to make ourselves sick trying to choke it down so we get our money's worth. The G.O.A.T Flatbread: This was a tiny bit better... once it cooled. This flatbread has tomatoes baked on top. These things are little infernos. They are so temperature hot that we actually burnt the roofs of our mouths. The flatbread itself is just warm when served, so we didn't expect it. It was like having a bomb go off in your mouth. I actually had to open my mouth and let it fall onto the table because I couldn't chew it. It was that hot. Once it cooled down a bit it was fine. Another thing that added to the meh experience was that it took 40 minutes to get our food, even though we only ordered those two dishes. There were only 2 other tables that had both gotten their food, so not sure what the delay was. I don't think I would return here. read more

Visiting Fernie for the first time and pleasantly surprised by the number of dining options with good quality, well prepared food. We are from Vancouver and with Fernie being close to Alberta we figured they must be good at cooking beef because Alberta visitors will have very high standards. We ordered the 10 ounce steak and the short ribs and our guess was right. Both were delicious and disappeared into our stomachs pretty quick. Plates cleaned with nothing left was our compliment to the kitchen. Nice decor and ambience too. We were lucky to get the last table. The pair coming in behind us sat at the bar, and the next group had to wait. We were two people. If you have a larger group it mIght be a good idea to make a reservation. Lively with good energy, the Brickhouse looks like maybe it used to be a firehouse. An open kitchen keeps everyone on their toes, very professional yet casual in atmosphere, high ceilings and open brick wall gives it that old but now new feeling. We love the menu here. Fresh food served up right. Our server, Janay told us about the busy Winters around here and how everyone sticks together and has a good time. Cool little restaurant that serves local craft brew which we were looking for. We really enjoyed the beers and it was $6 pint night. They have specials each night and we were happy our night was beer night! Our host was friendly but when we told her we were from the US and wanted to try some Canadian food she just wasn't interested in telling us about anything special which we figured out there is no specific Canadian dish. We ordered the salmon salad which was super good, the duck and waffle, which was also very good, the short ribs, they were ok but it was actually two chunks of pot roast with gravy and not actual short ribs, and a side of fries that were pretty good but they were pricey at $10. For three people and two beers we spent $86 before tip which is kinda pricey for a brew pub, but it was good food and a neat little place. read more

I can honestly say this was the worst dining experience I've ever had. We were so excited to try it out, it's very cute but the burgers were not too great, the fries were soggy, and the service was absolutely appalling. We all had a couple bites and left to go to A&W. The waitress was rude, never checked on us, and after giving us the machine to pay was gone for 15 minutes before coming back to help us pay for the second check. I would absolutely not go back and would never recommend this place to anybody. The food being not too great is one thing and we could have handled that but the bad service is honestly what upset us the most. read more

Great place, had the Brie burger which was delicious. They had a nice menu with lots of things I wish I could have tried. Was kinda busy the night I went and I was pretty tired so for that night i wasn't to impressed with the speed of the service. But it was full and I got there right on time so did not have to wait. It was also jam night which unfortunately I was too tired to stay for. I would Definately go back and would Definately recommend it. The only complain is that there isn't a very big selection of dinner meals... But the food is always good so we return. the brick building and the environment is welcoming as well. A gas fireplace at the back table would really warm up the place for visiting skiers rather than a lamp in it too. read more

Great service, small menu but of the things I had, everything was tasty. Small but dece t selection of beers on tap. I had the beef short ribs as a starter and they were incredibly tender, possibly the most tender short ribs I've ever had. They were presented in a spicy chocolate type gravy with rocket, my goodness they were good. For my main I had the brie burger which was excellent, my only complaint is that it gets a bit soggy very quickly, might be due to the choice of bun or that they put the sauces on the underside of the patty on the bottom bun. I ordered my burger with truffle fries which were excellent. I discovered that when you order truffle fries try ordering a side of gorgonzola if its available to sprinkle on top, it's magnificent. I'm in fernie to ski for a few days and decided to check out the brick house for dinner. I ordered their Bri bacon burger and was not impressed. Always good food and good service, and normally pretty good music too! The menu hasn't changed since I started going here in 2011. The burgers are the reason to keep going back, so why mess with a good thing! The blues burger is my go to, and when back visiting this past March I was not disappointed. Road trip from "Berta" with some friends and stumbled upon this gem. We had dinner there and boy they have there poop in a group at this establishment. DISGUSTING SERIOUS FOOD HANDLING VIOLATIONS THAT CAN MAKE YOU VERY SICK !!! There is an open kitchen and I watched incredulously as the female kitchen employee used bare hand food contact on ready to serve food. She grabbed handfuls of fried onions, lettuce , garnish and other food with her bare hands and put them on customer plates ! To make matters worse the dish washer used a towel to dry his arms and then used the same towel to wipe down pans. Soooo grossss ! He also helped plate food with his bare hands. There seemed to be no one in charge. Some patrons went into the kitchen/bar area and helped themselves to drinks and and hung around chatting with the kitchen personnel. STAY AWAY ! read more

This was a great find. The space is a converted bank with big bright windows. The calamari was fresh and well prepared with a tasty crust that included sesame seeds and fried capers. Despite the food being quite decent, the manager (owner's brother) is on such a rude power trip that when I asked him a very simple question he barked "nope, nope, nope "while I was still speaking. Nice place, food was not bad at all, however, the experience was bad due to poor service. The waitress neglected to serve food and was just interested in selling drinks. The salad sat on the pass through in front of our eyes for 20 min or so, and when asked she said it was our fault we did not ask for it in advance and she is busy. Overall tone was condescending, demotivated and bothered by our presence. On top of it they did not take American Express cards , and the expression " I am sorry ..." seems absent from the shown vocabulary. Recommendation: Stay away, there must be some decent places with decent service and attitude around this quaint little town. read more

What a pleasant surprise! We three tourists really enjoyed the food and the beer. This is not pub grub. The dishes were tasty and full of flavour. The portions were good and the service attentive. The Brickhouse is a solid, dependable, delicious place to eat. Warning: it gets LOUD quickly if it is open mic night or there is a live band. You definitely can't carry on a conversation at all when music is playing. The menu is robust and reliable, save for the nachos. The chicken pesto sandwich, pear and brie pizza, mussels and the fish steak are all very lovely and dependable. My criticism: while the menu is good, it never, ever changes. I could probably recite well over half of the menu and I only eat three or four of the dishes. Whatever you do, don't get the nachos. Not even as drunk food. They need about four times more cheese on them, different chips and more toppings... basically a fresh start. They're not cheap, either. The booth atmosphere, actually nice washrooms and nice restored brick building make it a pretty swell spot to be. PS: they have Tall Timber on tap. This is a good thing. The house wine is not a good thing, avoid it. read more
