in the last 6 months since i last visited the service here has gone to horribly awful. i visit this place when i come to visit cranbrook. the first day, i experienced horrible customer service where the girl with black hair, short bangs and tattoos swore at me and acted like i was stupid for asking a simple question about a product they offered. My friend asked for no mushrooms on her wrap, she still received mushrooms. the next time i visited, the girl working the till ignored me, and invited her 2 friends up to order even though i was infront of them and completely ignored me. i confronted her about this and she said she "didn't see me." like wow... didn't see the person standing in front of your 2 friends?.... The people being hired here are obviously extremely questionable. the last time i went, i asked for no onions on my wrap, and yet there were still onions on my wrap. Management needs to have a serious conversation with their staff about attitudes and attentiveness towards the customers and more care over the food. only adding extra star for good coffees. read more

I love this place . It was my first time at this restaurant I we had breakfast here and to be honest I loved it.The high ceiling is amazing i This place has a very good location, and a big parkade. There's delicious food and cozy atmosphere. They have lovely staff ready to serve with positive attitudes. read more

Overview: This was the first time I've been to the restaurant and I'm definitely glad I went. I liked how chill the vibe was and that I didn't feel pressured to order more food for staying longer. Atmosphere: Casual and good for all kinds of activities such as meeting friends and working away on your laptop. I liked how the roof was covered in coffee bean bags. Food: 1. Thai coconut noodle bowl ($14.50): Portion was big and the soup was very creamy. I thought the flavour was slightly on the sour side; I would've preferred it to be a little sweeter. 2. Burmese curry with natural chicken ($15): Portion was big and the flavour was great. Drink: 1. Cafe coconut cream ($4.50): I highly recommend this drink because it's made with real coconut cream and has 2 shots of espresso so it will wake you right up! Service: This restaurant is mostly self-serve. You can seat yourself and order at the counter when you're ready. You will then be given a wooden spoon with a number on it, and the server will bring your food to your table once it's ready. read more

I'm really picky about oatmeal. I have it for breakfast most days at home. (So sue me - I need a routine in the morning.) When travelling, I don't always try. Either it comes out of a packet or they don't have it, or it's just bad. However, spotting it on the Hot Shots menu I thought I check it out. It turned out to be baked, which I'd actually never tried before. Surprisingly good. It came with blueberries and a couple of peach slices, plus a jig of milk which you need to get a decent texture. I liked it enough to get it the second morning, and this time the milk was hot, which totally sealed the deal. Eat your oatmeal!!! The staff were friendly without wanting to be besties. And excellent idea to take your order and payment cafeteria-style before you sit down. Really good if you're in a bit of a rush and don't want to flag down your person and wait for the bill. My only quibble was the coffee, which I found a bit harsh. But it had caffeine, so I survived. read more

They don't have a gluten free alternative for the chips that come with the soup and wanted to charge extra for gluten free bread. They didn't offer to charge less money for an incomplete meal without the pita chips. Their matcha is fake and mostly sugar, i don't eat sugar and one sip of their matcha latte made me very nauseous. :( read more

They may have amazing drinks but the Food has been ok for years. Too many noodles in the bowls, not enough vegetables, and too spicy . What is this pay extra for gluten free? Even if there is not a substitute?? Hot Shots is a last resort for us. Everything in town was closed so we had to go there. $20 for a bowl of noodles broth and 4 prawns! Delicious food and chill atmosphere. We had Chicken Chowder soup and Brazilian Shrimp soup with our Bacon and meatloaf sandwiches. Soups were tasty -- I highly recommend. The meatloaf loaf was soft and so was the bun so it was very easy to eat even though we were already full from the soup! The desserts all looked good. My second review here. Was majorly disappointed in the breakfast last week. Thought I would try the lunch. Very busy! The turkey brie sandwich was very nice and the coconut curry soup was excellent. An unexpected pit stop in Cranbrook on the way to Nelson gave us something to look forward to on our drive home! This local coffee shop/cafe offers a variety of fresh, healthy and unique dishes. MAKE SURE that you look at all the menus before you order... that part is very confusing, but the payoff is in the dishes themselves. I think there are three menus to order from... anyways the staff seems really friendly and both times we were there, it was packed inside - a great tip off on how great the food is! Difficult review - love the vibe and the local focus, strongly dislike the price point and food. I've come here lots over the years with my kids or to work (I'm a writer). It's fun for wee ones, board games galore and fun sugary "healthy" treats at kid level to entice them. The writer in me loves the summer hours, free wifi, lots of plugs, that I can sit here all day and nurse a drink. It's a bit noisy without headphones though. I've eaten here a few times spread over several years. Both times left me disappointed and feeling lied to. Example: I ordered chicken pad Thai just now. What I got was a tablespoon of chicken, if that, and briney noodles. The acid was so strong and off-putting, I was shocked. Obviously not made with tamarind (a key ingredient according to my Thai friends and chefs; I used to make this once a week from scratch myself). Maybe there's a speck of tamarind in the sauce... Maybe. I doubt it from the flavor and color. As well, no sweet notes. Crucial for pad Thai! I was really hungry so I ate it all, but my stomach felt like I'd drank a liter of water and apple cider vinegar. I do this often so I'm familiar with the feeling.. It was that acidic. Then, the presentation. How do I say this nicely? Lopsided, stuck together, nothing garnished, just all mixed in poorly. Again, a pad Thai no-no and easily remedied... It's all in how you order the ingredients. Anyway. A big lump of noodles on one side of the plate. Then there were weird ingredients. Who puts chunks of raw carrot in their pad Thai? Slivers... Maybe. Or how about some zucchini? Uh... There were ample mung shoots and peanuts on the side... Kind of funny since it's supposed to be a peanut sauce. Still, thanks. I haven't a clue how or why this is the most popular item on the menu. At $14... Yea. Again, stick with the drinks - the juice they get in from Kimberly is great! What a great place! Just around the corner from our hotel. Light, open and airy with lovely, helpful wait staff. We did take out and the food was fresh, very tasty and packed in eco conscious containers. They even have a drive thru window. Highly recommended. read more

Good sandwiches. Good coffee. But the worst customer service! I spent $50 (including tip) on coffee and sandwiches to go. While waiting for my sandwiches I had 2 different waitresses ask me not to bring my enviro-reusable Starbucks cup into their shop. I bought their coffee and was waiting for my sandwiches - and now they ask me to leave? Not cool. I wish I had this unpleasant exchange prior to tipping. I won't be back. read more

My family and I have stopped in here a couple times now while passing through Cranbrook. We have not been disappointed with the food both times and we're looking forward to making it a regular stop whenever we are in town. I had the chicken satay and my wife had the chicken curry, both dishes very flavourful and filling. The portions are perfect, and prices are reasonable. I highly recommend anyone that hasn't been to give it a try, you won't be disappointed! Another perk is that there are gluten free and vegan/vegetarian options as well if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions. read more

By far the best blended coffee drinks I have had anywhere! They also serve great Thai noodle and rice dishes! TomYum Noodle bowl with Prawns is simply amazing! Fresh ingredients and authentic tastes are a priority here! Lots of other great food and baked goods are on offer as well. Great service and amazing food make this a place not to be missed. 2018 update - Everything I said above still stands! Still spectacular! Good coffee. Ok thaifood nothing over the top. And there cinnomen buns are two Pillsbury buns stucks together. And there service is the worst in town. Everything is way to expensive. All the rest of the baked goods are awefull and expensive. Very loud inside clanking of dishes and staff talking loudly amongst them selves. To many young people on their staff around 13 annoying and incompetent mess up your order and not polite. I would not recommend this cafe/restaurant. read more

This double feature location features a Thai restaurant, called Lemon Grass Thai Restaurant, and an upscale coffee house (hot shots) serving near perfect coffees, lattes and cappuccinos as well as smoothies, teas and hot chocolates, They also have home style baked goods. I have been in this restaurant multiple times and never disappointed. Whether I go on a date and order some coffee drinks, or I want a Thai culinary experience, this place has yet to let me down. The food is good and affordable. perhaps a bit more upscale then your average coffee shop, but then again, this place is a bit more upscale then the average coffee shop. The ambiance is great and friendly, the staff are active and efficient, the managers are approachable and the seats are comfortable. There is a patio, a drive through for those in a rush, this place has it all. This place is great for gatherings, dates, friendly re-unions, or simply for working on homework or playing online (there is free WiFi) I personally will be sure to return in the near future. read more

We were wanting to find a place to eat while waiting for a flight out of Cranbrook. The location is a short drive from the airport, and the atmosphere was great for our purpose as we were able to sit and enjoy a drink and lunch without feeling rushed. Food prices are very reasonable for the portion size, the food and drinks tasted great, and the service was fantastic. If we didn't live so far away we would certainly be back again! read more

Hot Shots is probably the "hippest" coffee shop in town; a nice vibe, good service, and great coffee! The food isn't the greatest, though. The baked goods are great! But not the meals. If you're going there for the first time: try an iced hazelnut zebra. (If it's cold out get it hot) I also particularly enjoy their wide variety of delicious teas. Stopped in for lunch. Didn't get the drinks, but they looked amazing! Got the make-your-own wrap. Wrap was fine, but what really blew me away was my gf's all-Canadian sandwich (which was really more of a panini) and her cauliflower leek soup. One of the best soup/sandwich combos I'd ever tasted. The Lemongrass Thai food is pretty good, some dishes impressed me a lot more than others. I really love their hot wraps, breakfast dishes (best breakfasts in town, in my opinion) and the noodle bowls, but I wasn't huge on the satays, pho and curry bowls - I found them to be quite bland. I didn't want more spice, I just wanted more flavour. They have wonderful coffee and desserts though, and I like their soups. I have always found their servers and owner to be extremely friendly as well. read more
