The perfect spot for coffee and a treat! The staff was very welcoming and helped me decide my morning pastry. Every pastry looked amazing- it was hard to choose! The cinnamon roll had the perfect amount of sweet and the scone was so soft! My boyfriend and I got two caramel lattes that were perfect for our Roadtrip. It's a small quaint spot that have a constant flow of people coming in and out in the morning. I would choose this spot any day for my morning coffee run. read more

Max's place is my "go to" for a special treat. The cinnamon buns are to die for and the roast beef sandwich is the best in town.

Anytime I stop by Cranbrook I NEED to go to Max's Place. It has the best baking, pasta salads and coffee ever. I love going here and have probably come about once a year since I was 10. You have to get the puffed wheat squares here and try one of the pasta salads. They're cold and fresh, and one of them has purple grapes in it which makes it extra delicious. The staff are also super friendly and treat their customers well. They are always striking up conversations and offering extras and smiles. See you next year Max's! read more

A nice place for a tasty quick bite. With all of the choice of coffee places in town, this is one of nicest. The pastries are fresh, the drinks are well prepared and the service is quite appealing. The overall atmosphere is that of a homy cozy place. With it comes the warmth of some home baked treats and some well brewed warm (or iced) drinks, add a touch of friendship and you are all set for an adventure for your taste buds. It can get a little too cozy when it's really busy but it's also a good way to make new friends. The price is not bad but in the upper scale area, which is to be expected with the quality of the products. On our trip back home from the states, we checked yelp for near by restaurants. This one was one of the first and for a good reason. Very friendly staff and very good food. Was looking for something light and on the healtheir side. The three cheese and onion quiche was exactly what I needed and it was very delicious. I would recommend this place for sure. read more

I've eaten here a few times while in Cranbrook, and it's probably my favorite place in the whole town. Not only do they have good home made food, they have a good selection of stuff wrapped and ready for a quick "on the go" lunch. I've had the cinnamon rolls, muffins, a whole loaf of apple bread to go, the curry chicken wraps, and turkey/backon sandwiches. Best place to eat in Cranbrook in my opinion. read more

Max's has the best baking in Cranbrook by a country mile. Not surprising since it is a working bakery. My favourite lunch is their ham and cheese quiche. Cookies, muffins, tarts, scones, you can't make a wrong choice from their display case. Their cinnamon buns have the perfect amount of gooeyness. Also love their shortbread cookies. Try a loaf of their apple cinnamon bread if they have it when you stop in. It makes amazing french toast and grilled cheese sandwiches. The staff are all super friendly and they actually know how to use an espresso machine to make killer Americanos. Skip the big chains and eat here. Your tastebuds will thank you. read more

This is a great independent coffee shop in downtown Cranbrook. The coffee is above par with some good bakery goods as well. Max also provides a great selection of herbal teas. Wayyyyyyyyyy better than SBUX. read more

You can't help but love Max's Place. While some of the meals can get a little repetitive (it would be nice to see more changes in the menu, most of it has been the same for years), and I have been disappointed a couple of times, for the most part I really enjoy going there. They make the best specialty coffees in town, all the servers are friendly and accommodating, and sometimes they bring in some really cool specials to the menu - such as the affogato drink, and the gelato, that was amazing. I'm not crazy on some of the quiches, but the three cheese and the veggie quiches are delicious. The baked goods are fresh and flavourful. read more
