Top Tier Boba Spot. The crew running the shop were nice and funny and really helpful with getting us ingredient info. I've tried most of the boba spots in Reno/Carson/Gardnerville/Sparks and am so happy to be able to say that Num Num Boba is now my go-to spot. I got the almond milk tea with rose milk cap and egg pudding topping. It was SO tasty! The honeydew milk tea with normal boba was also really good! I also tried the bubble waffle with banana and Nutella and added whip cream on top. It was great and they made it quick. The decor is adorable and the plushies and purses they sell is super cute. What can I say... I'm a boba fanatic and have had my fair share of boba from Vegas, LA and Sac. Num Num Boba opened up near my house and they are amazing. They remind me of boba drinks from Asia like Koi Bubble Tea in Singapore. Every time I go-- I try something new! It's all great. My favorite is the Strawberry Fruit Tea with boba- 25% sugar. I ordered 4 drinks: Thai milk tea, honeydew milk tea, tiger milk tea, and guava fruit tea with mango boba pop. All of the drinks tasted delicious! Very disappointing we ordered 3 large halo Halohalo and Tai Tea and all the Boba thats in it are very hard! It is not cooked all the way! This is the very first time we didn't like our orders. We waited for what seemed like a long time for disappointment. Our order was incorrect (and so was the order before ours). Even at 50% sweetness, my drink was stomachachingly sweet. We ordered two of the specialty drinks, strawberry shortcake and halo halo, as well as a fruit tea. This store would not make it in our area. The employees did not move with any sense of purpose and seemed to be unsure how to make the specialty drinks listed on their menu. The texture of the boba was decent, but we didn't care for the flavor of whatever sweetener they were soaked in. My wife and I tried Num Num Boba for the first time this week. We ordered the plain black tea with milk and boba, 25% sweet. Having Taiwanese people in my family, and having many international student friends, I am spoiled from true "nai-cha" found in Taiwan (as well as the incredible selection in So. Cal.) and so I have high standards when it comes to boba tea. Also, I teach entrepreneurship at UNR and always like to observe what could be improved from a small business standpoint. So if you want to read more, here goes: The good: The tea itself, that we ordered, was probably the best tasting milk tea we have had from any of Reno-area's boba and Taiwanese shops (which isn't a whole lot, but overall it still tasted good). It tasted freshly brewed, rather than powdered tea mixes. This was a big plus. The environment of the shop was cute, welcoming, and we were tempted to just sit down and enjoy the cozy environment of this nice little place. What could be improved: The boba tapioca pearls, as nearly every place we've tasted here in the Reno area and most of the States, are a little too chewy. Boiling them more to a softer texture would make it more true to the fantastic popular boba tea we find all throughout Taiwan and Asia. Some shops in Southern California have finally nailed it down, like Half & Half, as well as Gong-Cha. The environment and business itself; Too many choices. As with many small business owners in the food industry that startup, Num Num Boba is trying to offer too much . . . too soon. We walked in and my head hurt from the overabundance of choices of tea flavors and specialty add-ins. The first thing we saw was a chalkboard loaded with "today's specialty drinks" with complicated names, but no pictures. And an ordering board hard to read, with too many items. They had names and some photos of snacks, but it was confusing. There is too much clutter on the counters, and a food warmer with bakery items that are only in-stock on the weekends. My recommendation to the owner: SIMPLIFY. Get rid of at least half of your tea flavors, and stick with 5-10 at the most tea choices. Make the standard plain teas more prominent and featured (Black, Green, Oolong, Jasmine), make sure they are freshly brewed, and limit the add-ins. And in my opinion, get rid of the smoothies (boba tea is what sets them apart, . . . smoothies are everywhere). It's simple. Just stick with your top half selling items. It will save a lot of inventory expense. And it will make ordering for customers simple, the shop less cluttered and make actual staff training/recipes and order consistency work. As for snacks, pick one or two snack types. Perhaps just waffles and/or snowflake. Limit the options. Get rid of the other stuff. And showcase high-quality photos of your items. If Num Num Boba simplifies, and focuses and improves on their top sellers, I can see them growing to success and maybe even developing a regional chain. We liked their tea. They just simply need to simplify. I hope they survive and thrive. If they don't take those suggestions, they may end up like many of the Midtown businesses I was helping during the artwalk that are no longer around. Trying to be everything to everybody doesn't work. Well, at least I will come in for another black milk tea with boba sometime. It was sure good. read more

I was excited to hear of a new boba place close, and it is kind of a cute name for a boba place which I like. Reading the reviews of the place made me visit as soon as possible. So I went in last week and the staff weren't very welcoming but I don't really care I'm here for the boba! But I got a milk tea and my friend got the green monster smoothie, the milk tea didn't have any good flavor that kept me sipping and my friends smoothie was the same. Yayyy more boba! Had to try the new place in town and was not disappointed! I ordered a blended avocado lightly sweetened with boba and asked for the cute boba man cup. It just made me so happy! Drink was made with real avocado and the boba was perfect! My only suggestion is to not use the colored markers on the cup. I've been waiting for a long time for a good boba place to open, and this place passes all of the tests!! I ordered a specialty drink, just to see what they were made of - the strawberry shortcake. Milk smoothie with strawberry boba and jelly, topped with graham crumbles. I added some Matcha pudding, since it peaked my interest.
