Our 1990-built home still had the original aluminum frame windows. Although they were dual pane,…read moregiven their age, they did not offer modern efficiency. Further, one had a broken seal and a few had become difficult to operate. The older sliding glass doors felt heavy to open and close. We decided to replace all 10 windows as well as the two sliding glass doors. After a few estimates and discussions with contractors, we decided to go with Extra Clear Windows and Doors. Eddie helped with making some decisions related to reconfigurations for two of the windows. He also helped us with understanding the different types of installation. We chose the new construction installation type for all of the openings. We felt this option offered a better looking final result. It also meant all new flashing and all new exterior wood trim. The additional cost was reasonable for this option. We selected the Anlin windows after Eddie showed us samples of a few options. Eddie handled all of the steps including pulling the permit and setting up the inspections. New construction installation requires two inspections - one before trim is applied so that the county can inspect the flashing, then another after the job is fully completed. Prior to the installation date, Eddie's team dropped off the wood trim so that we could paint it. On the day of the installation, he and his team arrived on time. The team was great. They were very efficient, attentive and asked us questions along the way to make sure they understood our needs. They also answered any questions we might have had. They were very respectful of our home, as well. I can't say enough about how good the team was to work with. The first portion of the installation was completed on day one. Eddie had already scheduled the inspector to come out the next business day (Monday.) After this first inspection, his team was able to finish up the balance of the job, installing the exterior wood trim, that same day. The final inspection occurred the next day, without issue. We are very happy with our new windows. From the ease of use to the attractive design to the improved clarity, they are a considerable upgrade! We love how they look and operate. We also notice less noise from outside. The reconfigurations we chose do to have also been quite positively impactful. Most notably, there was a large window in the living room that we never opened because we relied on the other smaller windows and the sliding door in that room for air circulation. We decided to make the large window into a picture window instead. What a wonderful transformation that turned out to be! All in all, Eddie and his team did a great job of providing us with the new windows and doors our home needed. We are very happy with the results, and recommend Extra Clear Windows and Doors.

Texted Nancy (the "glass girl" and wife of the Glassman) and she responded very quickly. Carlos the Glassman was able to stop by the same day (within the hour!) and taught me about how to keep the older windows lubricated. He sprayed on some magic stuff and wow, they were like brand new! He could have easily replaced parts and suggested new valances to make more money but he was honest with me and said that new valances would have issues in the future too. I wanted to reduce the noise as much as possible, I even considered getting triple pane windows. I requested a quote for both double and triple pane windows. Dave told me that he carries only Anlin but their double pane windows with a sound package and it's so good as triple pane windows. The quote I got was very detailed and included window specifications. It was very handy for a geek like me who wanted to verify and confirm all the details. In my recearch I found that Anlin sound package windows reduced noise by 29 decibles, comparing to 30 decibels for triple pane Pella, which confirmed Dave's statement. I had some limited availabilities due to my schedule and Dave was good at meeting me half way to find a working times for the installation. On the day of the install the team worked calmly, steadily, with great attention to the detail. It's been three months so far, but I've really enjoyed the noises reduction, temperature stability, and the high definition views these new windows provide.

However, as we discussed installation, he insisted that no ceiling brace would be needed when the weight-bearing wall was removed, and that " a couple of two by fours" was an acceptable alternative to the standard 4 by 10 inch header. When we insisted that both a temporary brace and header were essential, his bid increased by about 50%. Grant also told us that the only window manufacturer he used could NOT make a window with the coating we desired. He refused to even call and ask them, so we did, finding they were more than happy to meet our request, at no additional cost. We were relieved to have someone else do the install. BEWARE.
