Green Zero-Proof drink on the bottom
Dylan 7.

As a lover of Lebanese food, this place does not hit the mark. It is clear they are trying to place a more modern twist on the dishes but, in doing so, they fall short on flavor. The food was overpriced for the small portion sizes (Chicken Shish Tawook) and adequate flavor profile. The Feast of Dips was especially disappointing with each of the five dips tasting virtually the same. The Green zero-proof drink was also disappointing and tasted like warm Trader Joe's green juice with pear. It could have been more clearly advertised as a thick, sweet juice rather than refreshing beverage and priced lower than $9.95. It is a shame because the location of the restaurant, branding, and interior are all lovely, they should just reevaluate their menu and enhance the strength of the dishes and it could make a huge difference!! I should also note that the two other Nuba locations have higher Yelp reviews, so it may just be the Kits location that is falling behind. Try the other locations for yourself, but I would suggest choosing somewhere else (like Jamjar!!) for Lebanese until this improves :)

First time trying lebanese food and I was mindblown omg. The dips on my plate with the fried cauliflower was heavenly everything was super flavorful and goes so well together. Would definitely want to try the hummus platter and halloumi cheese next time i'm here!

Nuba bills its food as "authentic Lebanese cuisine," and this trendy, modern restaurant has a focus on quality ingredients and freshly-prepared dishes. To get a good sampling of the menu, the thing to order is "Le Feast," a two-course sampler of lots of different mezzes! The first course of cold mezzes came with hummus, muhammara (red pepper and pomegranate molasses dip topped with walnuts), baba ghanouj (char-roasted eggplant dip topped with pomegranate reduction), tabbouleh, fattoush, black/green olives, pickled cabbage, and blocks of feta cheese. All of the salads were fresh and delicious, and while the hummus was slightly dry/grainy, all of the dips went nicely with the thin pita bread that came on the side. The second course of Le Feast came with a selection of hot mezzes: Najib's Special (fried cauliflower), four small crunchy fritters of falafel (made with chickpeas and fava beans), mjadra (stewed green lentils and brown rice topped with caramelized onions), and mushroom hushwie (cremini mushrooms cooked with cannellini beans served over brown rice). The flavors of the hot mezze dishes were somewhat underwhelming compared to the cold mezzes, but the platter also came with a ramekin of tahini and a spicy, herbaceous green sauce, which went nicely with all the different components. Finally, we got a side order of the Lamb Kibbeh Sainieh, a baked mixture of ground lamb and bulgur stuffed with a layer of pine nuts, onions, and red pepper; and the Bison Kafta, a juicy grilled kebab made of ground bison mixed with baharat spices, parsley, and onion. Overall, the food here was high quality and nicely presented, and the trendy atmosphere made for a fun setting for a delicious meal!

Good meal, flavours were delicious! We got the tomato & yam soup, the crispy cauliflower, lamb skewer, and bison short rib. The soup was really delicious, highly recommend! Good size for a starting soup too, in my opinion. Cauliflower was tasty but not crispy, and the pickled cabbage underneath was honestly perfect. The bison short rib was tender and fell off the bone, but lacked a little in bison flavour. My friend also felt that the portion was a bit small. The lamb skewer was good, almost like a long lamb meatball. The flatbread and tzatziki was absolutely divine, big big fan! Servers were nice, and the place is cozy and casual. Overall, a really nice place to go for a delicious dinner. I thought it was really good, but our bill was a little hefty for what it was, $93 after tax before tip for the two of

Najib's Special Lunch Plate

I met a group here for a sort-of-business lunch and we had a good experience! The place was my suggestion since I'd gotten delivery from Nuba last year and felt that the food was okay but the delivery experience just didn't do it justice, so I had been looking for a reason to try them out for real and the fresh product was definitely better than just okay. To start, they seated us in the main area of the restaurant, which was quite busy and louder than we wanted as we were wanting to have a serious conversation, and asked if the back room was open and, if it wouldn't be a pain, if they could move us, and they were able to. Both areas of the restaurant are really cozy, but I liked the slightly airier feel in the back. I had the Najib's Special (fried cauliflower) lunch plate. This was some seriously excellent fried cauliflower - the bites were super flavourful, kind of tart, kind of sweet, and not too greasy, unlike some takes on this dish. The hummus was smooth and rich, and especially tasty with the hot sauce added. I definitely recommend getting the "hot" sauce even if you have a low spice tolerance because I didn't find it very spicy at all and it really enhances the flavour of everything. The service was some of the smoothest I've experienced recently. The two staff members that served us were very professional, came by at just the right times to refill water, and they gave us all the time and space we needed to finish talking even after we'd been done eating for a while. Our food also seemed to come out pretty quickly after we ordered.

Visited for dinner recently with a group of friends. We made a reservation but there still seems to be a bit of a line at the entrance just to get seated. It was kinda of confusing because there were also some food delivery people and the entrance is super narrow and small. The service was okay. I liked our server but he didn't come around to the table as much as I would've liked. It was kind of difficult to flag him down in the busy restaurant. I was also a little confused by the menu which doesn't give much indication of portion size but the server was helpful. We ordered 2 portions of each of the 3 platters for a total of 6 portions to share between 6 people. It was enough food for our group just to get those platters. I wasn't sure if we were supposed to order flatbread or pita or something to go with the platters but our server mentioned that it comes with the meal. I think I misunderstood because I thought it was part of the platter but it seems to be just a free side so it was kind of difficult to get refills and the amount they gave was definitely not enough to match the 6 portions of platters we ordered. I wish they were more clear about this when we ordered. Other than that, the experience was pretty decent. Everything was good but not too special so I probably won't be visiting again.

We had been wanting to try this place forever and when I say it's worth the wait, it really is!! The food and the drinks were amazing! The service was impeccable and our server, Celeste was such a kind host! She was extremely patient with us and what we wanted! As we've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, we tried the delicious things that caught our eye!! Also, forgot to post the photo of the lamp rack but it was amazing!!! Shout out to this restaurant and the staff running this amazing place! You can tell everyone really put their hearts into this place!! Also, it's a lot bigger than in photos! We were SHOCKED! It was beautiful! THEIR COFFEE IS ALSO SOOOO YUMMY!!! I adore the cappuccino !!

I'm a big fan of Nuba in general, my go to is Gastown location. This was my first time at this location, wanted to check it out. Made reservation online. Came here with a group of friends for dinner. I love Nuba's lunch menu, this is now my second time for dinner once in Gastown and this location for the second. I still prefer the lunch menu. The falafels are amazing, I always get it. We also added the cauliflower as our starter. I ordered several smaller dishes instead of ordering a main dish. The lamb was ok, I love lamb kibbeh often order it but tasted off today, a little dry maybe. This location is larger good for big groups. Love the yelp check in offer, free fresh juice. The server was nice and gave the check in offer to two of us in the group. Overall it was a good night. I will be back.

Rice pudding

Came by on a Friday night during Dine Out Vancouver in a group of four. First off, I loved the room and the ambience. Our server came by right away and took our drink orders, so off to a great start. And nice that they had a local IPA on draught. It went downhill from there. It took a while for our server to return to take our dinner order. I opted for the trio of dips to start, with the chicken for the main and the rice pudding for dessert. The trio of dips were the star of the meal and I enjoyed all three: humus, egg plant and carrot. We were only a few minutes into our starters, when they brought out three of the four mains. A wee bit odd as we had just started eating our appetisers and not anywhere close to finishing them. We made the most of it and the persons in our group began to eat both courses together. Unfortunately my entree was not brought out with the other entrees. After twice enquiring on the status of my entree, the chicken was served 20 minutes later, after the rest of our group had finished their mains. No apology or explanation from the staff or management. The chicken was overcooked, dry and had no taste. The rice was bland and not memorable. Then we waited for dessert. And then we waited some more. After another 10 minutes, we flagged down a server to enquire about our desserts. Our desserts were brought out together (yeah). Rice pudding is one of my favourite desserts but this was surprisingly also very bland. I have had good rice pudding and this rice pudding was not good. The positives of the meal was the presentation of the dessert and the taste of the trio of dips. I normally do not breakdown my reviews in separate ratings, but felt compelled, to justify my 1 star rating. Room/Ambience: 4/5 Food Presentation: 3/5 Food Taste: 1/5 Service: 1/5 With the multiple issues with the food and service, lack of any accountability for both of these from the server and management, it was not a positive food experience. This was one of the worst restaurant service experiences I have had in Vancouver...so not acceptable. I can not recommend Nuba and we have no plans to return.

Fresh juice from checking in on Yelp! 10 oz portions, $5 value. Pear/apple/ginger and apple/beet/carrot/ginger
Stephanie T.

I have always wanted to try Nuba, but the Gastown one is always so crazy busy. This location accepts OpenTable and even better - there is a Yelp check-in offer! So we made our way here after a day at Granville Island. We were seated in their patio as requested, which was perfect since it was a warm day and brighter here than inside the restaurant. The waitress, Madisen, promptly brought us water and took our juice check-in offer. She explained they were 10oz portions and we could choose and mix any of the fresh juices they had on their menu. The juice of the day was Apple, Beet, Carrot and Ginger, so I decided to choose that rather than to make my own. These drinks were both super refreshing and tasty. You can really tell they do use fresh juice. A nice bonus for checking in on Yelp! The Feast ($39): includes Le petit feast ($17), which we were contemplating until we started to feel more hungry. The feast includes all vegan dishes to be shared between 2. We started with Le petit feast, which had hummus, baba ganoush, cabbage salad, and tabbouleh with a side of pita. This was a delicious start to our dinner. We were even getting kind of full! Then, the rest of the feast came. This was a platter that had salad with pita chips and chickpeas, eggplant stew, lentil stew, olives, feta, falafels and their famous cauliflower. They also provided 3 sauces: tahini for the cauliflower, green sauce that was slightly spicy for the falafels, and tzaziki that went with everything. We enjoyed all of the items on the platter, except we weren't really a fan of the eggplant or lentil stew. For a fully vegetarian or vegan meal, we were super full and satisfied afterwards. The service was also perfect. Madisen checked up on us at the right time when we were reading the menu, and during our meal she checked on us to ensure that we were enjoying each course. At one point, there was a spider that appeared on the patio wall, and she immediately grabbed a paper towel to relocate the spider to outside for me. Overall, I enjoyed my meal here, from the quality of the food to the service and ambiance. I definitely will be back, hopefully to try their lunch specials at one of their other locations!

Halloumi Cheese
Rebecca D.

I think Nuba might be my favorite new restaurant. I don't know much about Lebanese food, but my husband and I thought we'd give it a try last Tuesday night. Although the restaurant was busy, we got in and got a table pretty much right away. The decor was great and had a welcoming atmosphere. The server and hostess were both friendly and ready to answer any questions we had about the menu. The food was what truly made our visit spectacular. We started with the halloumi cheese. I've made halloumi before at home, but this was like an entirely different food altogether. The pomegranate dressing and mixed nuts were perfect. My husband mentioned that none of it sounds like it should work together, but somehow it does! We shared an order of Najib's Special, a cauliflower dish. Definitely the best cauliflower I've ever had. (Be careful - I didn't know that the green dip was jalapeño dip until I tried it!) I ordered the lamb hushwie, and my husband had the lamb sirloin. We both thoroughly enjoyed everything and definitely plan to go back!

First time trying out Lebanese food and I was not sure what to expect of it. So I had a sense that it would be similar to Mediterranean food. I like Mediterranean food. Why did it take me so long to make a trip to this restaurants is because its hard to find friends who are willing to try this place out with me. This place is located in my hood and it had the old decor of the old Italian restaurant that used to be here but of course it is much more successful then than old Italian restaurant. Walked in and its a very romantic setting. Candle lighted. I mean, I am coming here with my girlfriend so this setting would not affect me. But I like the atmosphere. Its not too noisy. Server is a bit of a rush. Maybe he wants table turn over fast. But He was very friendly. I checked in on Yelp and made a mistake not realizing that the free drink only applies for lunch and brunch only but they still honored it. My friend and I both ordered the Chicken Tawook and a cauliflower to share. I liked the cauliflower and it was quite interesting. My friend said she expected it to be mashed. Unfortunately No, it still had the cauliflower shape. But to me its ok. I wouldn't know how other Lebanese restaurants would cook it because this is my first time trying out Lebanese food. The Chicken Tawook was really good. Its with Halal chicken. This is my first time having Halal chicken as well. The meat was very juicy and tender. I had to double check in the dark to make sure its fully cooked. The chicken tasted that juicy and the meat was super smooth. The dinner came with pita bread so I made a wrap with my Tawook dish. Yummy. I am not really sure if that is the way to eat it but I just like the conventional way. The juice was really good as well. The server picked for me. I got the lemon, apple, orange, celery and ginger juice. The combination had a good kick to it. Definitely will come back and I highly recommend giving this place a try.
