Nu Era removed/replaced central A/C system in my home I am extremely pleased and satisfied with their work! Their price was far better than the other 2 estimates I received for the job. Plus they recommended/installed surge suppressors on the outside/inside units. They installed a modern Bosch system that uses microprocessor controls for the compressor/blower assembly for more efficient operation. System is controlled by an app on my phone. Knowledgeable, smart, reliable, great troubleshooting, friendly, hard working technicians completed the job in one day. The whole crew was outstanding, very courteous and careful with the floors/walls and all aspects of my home. Erick came to our home today to fix our AC. I guess all it really needed was cleaning , but DEEP cleaning. We have 5 units and he was able to finish cleaning 3/5 in less than 3hrs. He had to open up each unit and pull out this huge blower to get off all the dust and build up. Erick was super kind and friendly to us. He even explained everything every step of the way. We've had another company come up and charge over over a grand and we got another quote for $3k. Ericks company only charged us $308 for everything. Super thankful that they aren't trying to rip people off! We're definitely going to use them from here on out for all our AC needs. read more

I got home from work and my wife ihad a project for me. It was to put a decorative backing behind the wall mounted thermostats we got with our new AC system. Being the broke-anic I am, I remove the thermostats and put the new covers on. Unfortunately while I was doing this I crossed two wires and shorted my new AC system out. I went from hero to zero in that short period of time. I called Nu Era immediately, hoping to catch someone (after hours). Fortunately, someone answered! And after explaining my situation, the owner (Michael), who took my call, had a good idea about what the problem was. He told me someone would be by to look at it. No kidding, just 15 minutes later, a tech showed up, crawled up in my attic, and quickly resolved the problem. The fuse protecting the main circuit board did its job and needed to be replaced. Literally a half hour after I killed my AC, they had it back up...after hours. I asked for an invoice so I could gladly pay for their service. The repair guy said they probably wouldn't even charge me for the visit. Wow. That's taking care of your customers. Honestly, I can count on one hand, the number of businesses I know of, that take care of people like that. The Summer of 2014 seemed to be more humid, hotter and stickier than we have ever experienced here. We felt fortunate knowing that our home has a ductless split-air conditioner system that has provided us with relief for the years that we've lived in our home and throughout this Summer. However, just before Summer ended, we noticed that one of our air conditioning units only circulated the air like a fan. The, once, cooler air that we felt before had disappeared. A number of our neighbors have air conditioning systems and during the Summer they had their systems serviced. We heard that there were some companies who were price gouging or were very slow in responding. Our neighbors all touted Nu Era as being professional, efficient, thorough and offers fair-priced quotes. So, we waited until last week before calling Nu Era for service. Earlier this week, we called to schedule an appointment with Michael who was nice enough to schedule us on Halloween morning. We were expecting the worst because we thought that he'd tell us we needed to replace a compressor. A new compressor would probably cost thousands. Michael was very prompt and courteous and diagnosed the problem quickly. Our quote was less than $700 which included problem detection and repair, freon refills, maintenance cleaning and time. We were relieved to hear that we didn't need an expensive repair or replacement. Michael recommended that we run our system at least once a week for 10 to 20 minutes to keep it running in tip-top shape. We're going to schedule all of our future maintenance with Nu Era Air Conditioning. read more

Follow-up Service UNSAT. I had a great initial impression of this company. All I had written was true at the time. Now comes the follow-up service. Nonexistent. I am more than patient. Beginning in November, 2015 I called their office and e-mailed them with continued off putting. I was told to call back after Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then New Years, then I called February and was told they couldn't do anything at that time and to call back again in a month. March, April came and went. I called and e-mailed. FINALLY, Mike came out begrudgingly. He climbed a ladder to clean my filter and left!!! THIS IS THE COMPLIMENTARY 1 YEAR SERVICE. I was shocked. I CLEAN THE FILTERS!!! I was told there is Mold in the system and needs cleaning. I asked when that was going to happen and he said when he returns to do some moving of equipment for me. Well, I finally received an e-mail from his office telling me THEY ARE TOO BUSY TO HELP ME. It's now going on 8 MONTHS since I called them and they REFUSE to help me. THEY WILL NOT COME TO MY HOME. I was told his people are working a job on another Island and won't return for months. No one will wait this long. I have been MORE THAN ACCOMIDATING to their schedule since November. DO NOT EXPECT them to keep their contract. This is a sleazy company that takes the highest bidder first and IF TIME..... You. Go elsewheres for Sales & Service. I have sought out another Company and the owner will be at my home tomorrow night to do the estimate for my job. Again, Avoid Nuair. read more

I was really hoping to be able to give this business a higher rating. From the get go it was difficult to book an appointment. When I first called the office person said she could not book an appointment because she didn't have the calendar with her. She said she would call be back in an hour. An hour later I called her back and she said she would call me back in 30 min. Finally, the next day I got a call and scheduled an appointment. The technitions were great. They were knowledgeable and helpful. They explained everything in detail. They were quick and did the job fairly well. The technition went over the bill with me and explained everything. I was agreeable to the price and handed him my credit card. He informed me that thier card machine was down at the moment but I could call the office in a few days to see if they got it fixed. It's now been about a week and I called the office. The lady there told me that they do not accept cards (debit or cc) and never have. She said that I must pay in cash or check. She said I can send the check to the address on the top of my invoice and that was all. I expressed to her that no one ever told us that we needed to pay cash or check. She apologized, offered no solution to the problem and hung up. Be careful with who you do business with. read more

Horrible company. Do not use. After a new installment they came back to inspect after a request to fix the unit. They would not saying it is working. A kid not even checking the unit under the unit. We have been playing for electricity that uses the compressor and no relief. So I called a different contractor who examined the a/c unit that opened the side showed me the problems and suggested chewing out the original installer Nu Era who said they may come out again. I will take photos of their work and complain to better business bureau and contractors association not to mention the a/c company. They are incompetent and not responsive so get a real estimate by a good installer. read more

Almost a month ago we messaged this company for a estimate on repairs. We were notanswered until a week later and still let the tech come to our home because our split AC wasn't working. He proceeded to go through the system came back with "you should replace the whole system. " he said he would get his supervisor to contact us with a list of "good, better, best, and the costs for installation and removal." He did get a email a few days later with one quote that was almost 4k. Then my husband noticed the tech left a mess. The pictures are posted. I emailed to request that a supervisor contact me. I've called several times a week (and left messages) for 3 weeks. Sent for a call on their website. All I want is a freaking estimate for split a/c in my home. No one has ever gotten back to me. I'm really disappointed because this place has the best reviews, which is why I continued calling for a few weeks. I was dead sent on getting these guys specifically! I've got another company coming to do an estimate this afternoon. They have good enough reviews and answered their phone and had me scheduled within the week after my first call. Eric came out to see why my central AC would not run even after I changed the capacitor. He checked out the system and hooked up a hard start unit and that got the compressor going and the cooling started in less than an hour. They were able to fit us in and were over and done with before 4:30pm! Not only was the price reasonable but the tech was very friendly and happy to help us understand why the problem occurred and how to avoid it. I just finished helping my grandparents replace their split air unit that was destroyed by a gecko invasion. Of course, I got some help from Yelp. I collected three different quotes and Nu Era was in the middle. All quotes were for the same make and model units and included the same general scope of work. In addition to the fair price, what tipped the scales for us, was that the owner, Michael, was easily accessible, arrived promptly, and was very neat and tidy. He was also easy to work with and very respectful to my grandparents. Nu Era delivered everything as expected and on time. The two other workers who helped with the installation were also polite and hard-working. The company also offers 24/7 emergency services and travels islandwide. Not much else to say. My grandparents are relaxing in 30,000 btus of comfort. We had a really smooth installation. All good. Oh, and they even built a gecko barrier to help prevent future attacks to the outdoor condenser. Excellent experience, quality work, and pricing. During the estimate phase, Michael (owner) was very professional and responsive to phone calls, emails, and text. He spent the time discussing what is right for me, regarding equipment size and efficiency, placement of the indoor and outdoor unit. I had lots of questions regarding the equipment and installation and he took the time and was patient. I shopped around and had a handful of quotes and I suggest you do the same. I received quotes from other a/c contractors that were priced well below Nu Era for a 12,000 BTU unit but the a/c equipment was obsolete. Quotes should disclose the exact model so you can compare apples to apples. After receiving 5 quotes, Nu Era had the best price for the equipment, A/C installation,and electrical labor cost. The equipment I purchased was a MSZ/MUZ FE12NA8 and NA1 Mitsubishi 12,000btu A/C. I chose this make because of future maintenance costs are lower than Fujitsu. Excellent warranty 7 years compressor, 5 years parts, 1 year on labor. Installation was also a great experience. They were respectful, careful of property, quality install, and took the time to explain how to use the a/c. Licensed, C-30788. I highly recommend Nu Era. Get quotes from several other a/c contractors and make sure you compare the same make and model and labor costs for both installation and electrician labor costs. Be careful with this company. They tried to charge me extra for parts. They ordered a part for us from their supplier (Admore in Honolulu) but charged us almost double for the part. I called them on it, but they tried to deny it at first. The technician was nice, friendly, on time and knowledgeable, but they try to rip you off by charging you extra for the part that they order for you. Ask where they buy their parts from. Ask exactly which part and part number you need. Ask what their hourly wage is and what a service call costs....actually, call another air conditioning business. Mike, the owner, would never even call me back to apologize or explain what happened. Complete scam artist. I don't recommend this shady company. read more

In my book, one of the best AC repair companies out there. Had a major repair done to my central AC system in 2013. Mike's employee (Nerry) and another worker completed the job in one day. Last week during the heavy rains, my AC control panel indicated a fault to the outside unit. Called Mike that night. He sent Nerry out the next morning to trouble shoot it. Found out a relay had blown probably due to the rain. They found the relay and installed the next day. Mike and his team are very professional, efficient and their pricing is reasonable. read more
