I am 77 years old man. The man and his wife who showed up were courteous, and I don't mean to disparage them personally. But they were retired and somewhere in their sixties. I could see their strength and energy (and effort) were obviously lacking. They were worn down after just bringing in their equipment from the van. It became very clear to me that they were not physically or incentivized to do the work required and expected.
I am disappointed with both the service and the results. I was mistaken to believe this was an independent business, but it is a franchise operation.
Looking back, their reviews were terrific. But a closer look revealed nothing but 5-star reviews. The national (LLC) website also had nothing but 5-star reviews. How very unlikely.
Although the first cold-air return cleaning appeared thorough and efficient, the quality of the work declined noticeably afterward. I was beside them for the entire project.
During the first cold-air return cleaning, I was shown before-and-after videos on a corded camera and a remote tablet screen, but I saw little evidence of the work after that. Neither before or after'monitoring.
Altogether, I saw only two medium clumps of dust removed, both from the downstairs cold-air returns, where the debris simply clung to the end of the main hose brush. (The size of a softball. Two handfuls like this were all I ever saw being collected.)
The large vacuum never needed to be emptied. It was never used on my warm air inlets. And I was never shown any accumulation of 'cleaning results'.
Even after completing my entire system the mall vac never needed to be emptied.
I repeatedly heard excuses such as, "We can't get past this curve," "We can't get past this bend.", "We can't get past this bump." "This brush is too large,"
Yet several smaller brushes were laid out on a blanket. They were never tried or used, and the supposed "bumps" were no more than ordinary duct joints.
I was also told they "Couldn't go into the furnace." However, after inserting the handheld vacuum hose only about three or four feet, which ended ten or fourteen feet from the actual furnace--they said that was the best they could do. The bigger hose, with whirling brushes used on the cold ducts went no more than eight or ten feet (into the duct) at most.
The big vacuum with brushes was only used on two cold air ducts, and that vac was never taken upstairs. And on the two upstairs ducts they only used a hand-held vac with maybe a six or eight-foot hose. (No more than a hose very similar to a normal household vacuum cleaner.) The small hand-held was used on my hot air ducts on the entire project. An inch and a half hose - no brushes or directional control what-so-ever.
I have been able to do as much with my own shop vac.
To be blunt, this was no more than a supplemental income to their Social Security and they were too old and what appeared to me as unmotivated to do a thorough and, as expected job.
I have tried to contact the business with my concerns, but I have not received any response. read more
