It's been 10+ years since I've been in the piercing chair...I was definitely overdue! Upon walking in I was immediately greeted. I spoke to Jess about what I wanted, and explained an issue I was having with a current piercing. Jess listened to all of concerns and about what I wanted for my new piercing. She didn't rush me and actually listened and gave me feedback. Then, in the chair I was. Before I knew it Jess took care of one of my piercings and then I had the new piercing I wanted. Jess had such a gentle touch and made sure I was comfortable. We even made some small talk during the short piercing process. Visit Date: March 22, 2021 I wanted to come to Notorious since I noticed the name. I'm a hardcore old school hip hop fan and I felt like I needed to because of Biggie. Coincidentally on Biggie's death date I walked in for a booking after getting a haircut nearby. I met Austin, he's 22 but I was secretly calling him the 5 year old because I knew he was on the younger side. I'm 38. If he reads this review now he's going to know I called him the 5 year old. I showed him what I wanted and he booked me for the 22. On the day of the tattoo we only got the outline done but that is not Austin's fault, it's mine. I didn't know the tattoo was going to be so big and take so much time. I wanted to see the guy I'm seeing now (he was at my friend's house) and I had to run back to Baldwin to get my son from his father by 7:30. So Austin just completed the outline of the tattoo. I was going to schedule with him to come back for color but than I decided I'd like to have it colored in here and there by the two main artists I see regularly along with any other artists I encounter before it's all colored in for other work. So I probably won't be back to Notorious tattoo but my experience there was a good one and I can't complain about it. I also got a tank top on discount because I was getting tattooed that day and I appreciated the merch discount. I'll proudly wear the tank and maybe that will get one or two new clients their way. today I felt it was finally time to get my tattoos for my aunt and grandma and I couldn't be happier with them I went to Gary good as a walk in and he was phenomenal patient took his time very clean and such a nice and sweet welcoming guy. I got my septum pierced by Erin today! She was super sweet, and very helpful. She answered all of my questions before the piercing and shared more knowledge after. I previously had been to cliffs for my piercings and it was fine. But recently they leave a paper outside their door, which you sign your name with your number and what you want and they eventually call you. If you leave you lose your spot, but no one will speak to you for hours. I sat there for an hour last night just to have them call me and tell me their piercer didnt do septum piercings (???) and to come back tomorrow. When I got there today I had asked a girl sitting outside how long she had been waiting. It was after 7pm, she said she wrote her name at 4 and they called her at 6. No one speaks to you while your waiting and no one answers the phone. Go here, not cliffs. read more

I've come to this tattoo parlor several times to have my body jewelry placed and removed. The first thing you notice is that it's very clean and well decorated. Heidi, the body piercer, Is a total doll and so sweet. One of the many times that I came in, big Joel started talking to me. He was extremely friendly and I felt comfortable with him right away. I had been interested in getting a watercolor tattoo over my port scar. He was extremely professional, and listened to everything that I wanted for this Tattoo. It was a very important tattoo for me Because I wanted it to celebrate my strength through my treatment of breast cancer. Big Joel drew up a beautiful watercolor hummingbird, he showed me what it would look like on my chest using the IPad before he placed the tattoo design. He gave me many different options of what angle would look good and what type of Hummingbird would look best. He's a great conversationalist and I felt extremely comfortable talking with him throughout the entire Tattoo. He was also very gentle and listened to what I wanted as far as the beautiful color palette. He's a very kind Person and very well-known in Centereach and obviously in the tattooing business as well. His awards are all throughout the studio and this made me feel confident that I made the right choice. My tattoo came out gorgeous. I'm so proud to be wearing it forever. I plan to never go to another tattoo artist. I have found the only person I want to go to now and I have 14 tattoos! I only wish I had found him sooner. Thanks Big Joel! read more

My daughter has been asking for her naval to be pierced for some time now. I finally gave in. We asked around where other people have had good experiences but I came back to Yelp for the advice. Big Joel's was immaculate and attractive. The staff there is so incredibly accommodating and skilled. The walls are covered with awards from various shows they have done. Heidi, the piercing artist was phenomenal. As my daughter is a minor, she even arranged for a notary to come down and do the necessary documents while we waited. Big Joel gave me a very nice deal on a beautiful piece of jewelry, one that will last forever. And he even gave her a tee-shirt! Heidi is so professional. She was meticulous with her sterile technique, and nurses like me love that. I am not someone who has tattoos but I can certainly see why people would come here for their work because it is definitely not a tattoo parlor, it's artists at work.
