So, to everyone at Dark Child - I apologize for skipping a critical step in the process - not writing a review at the time of service. Now, for a reply to this comment. This woman has not been coming for years, I saw her about a year ago, maybe a little over a year, but certainly not for years. Note to self when attempting to take someone out on social media (which I don't advise) #1: make sure you can back it up with solid documentation #2 please use this amazing tool called the spell checker before hitting submit & lastly, if you do not have documentation, do a bit of research on the words libel & slander. I came to DCT by way of accompanying a friend who was getting, of all things, a touch up, by none other than Aja. Before this, I had one tattoo done many years ago & was perfectly happy with just that one. I went along for the ride (about 2 hours from the Bronx) & thought that would be it. The entire crew there, Aja, Ari, Caryn, Vel & the rest of the non-staff crew were warm, welcoming & they all had this zany humor that I clicked with right off the bat. The cover up was done on my friend & to this day, I cannot see what her original tatt was. The shop is super clean & they are serious about their instruments. Since then, I have been back for a touch up on mine & gotten several other pieces done, all by Aja & have a plan for a larger piece later this year. I was in the shop on a few occasions when Samantha came in. Never once was she anything but ecstatic about the work Aja had done - NEVER. She bragged (& rightfully so, about her pieces) that she was being chosen to represent Aja's work from Dark Child, to which I believe Aja won 2nd best female Tattoo Artist in Colorado - look it up for yourself. I remember one night, she was trying to talk Aja into a cover up she wanted & Aja patiently trying to explain that it was not a good idea & why. I had just finished up & was on my way out, but it sounded to me in that brief conversation, that she realized that Aja made sense in what she was saying - Welp, I guess not. At the end of the day, if you go to a specialist, an expert in their field & put forth an idea & this person tells you it's not a good idea & why, they may know what they're talking about. This is something you are putting on your body for life. Artistic input for your dream idea is everything, but if the idea is flawed, listen to your artist - they do this for a living. Reading the screen shots, however, makes me quite sad for her & I genuinely pray she gets some help.

Pat is awesome and a true artist- the type of artist who would cater to his client even if you DID want an ordinary old anchor or lighthouse tattoo. However, it would be a piece that was carefully considered to satisfy to an individual's needs. That makes all the difference, obviously. I spoke to Jess about what I wanted, and explained an issue I was having with a current piercing. Jess listened to all of concerns and about what I wanted for my new piercing. She didn't rush me and actually listened and gave me feedback. Then, in the chair I was. Before I knew it Jess took care of one of my piercings and then I had the new piercing I wanted. Jess had such a gentle touch and made sure I was comfortable. We even made some small talk during the short piercing process. Coincidentally on Biggie's death date I walked in for a booking after getting a haircut nearby. I met Austin, he's 22 but I was secretly calling him the 5 year old because I knew he was on the younger side. I'm 38. If he reads this review now he's going to know I called him the 5 year old. I showed him what I wanted and he booked me for the 22. On the day of the tattoo we only got the outline done but that is not Austin's fault, it's mine. I didn't know the tattoo was going to be so big and take so much time. I wanted to see the guy I'm seeing now (he was at my friend's house) and I had to run back to Baldwin to get my son from his father by 7:30. So Austin just completed the outline of the tattoo. I was going to schedule with him to come back for color but than I decided I'd like to have it colored in here and there by the two main artists I see regularly along with any other artists I encounter before it's all colored in for other work. So I probably won't be back to Notorious tattoo but my experience there was a good one and I can't complain about it. I also got a tank top on discount because I was getting tattooed that day and I appreciated the merch discount. I'll proudly wear the tank and maybe that will get one or two new clients their way. We went all over the island looking for help fixing it and everyone suggested laser removal with the promise of redoing it after the laser removed the tattoo. We went to Kings Avenue tattoo and words can't even describe how great this place is. It's upscale, clean, and professional. We met with a tall thin man with a shaved head (his name escapes me) and he immediately validated us and asked what he can do. My fiancee cried and he was extremely empathetic and sat with us for a long time talking about options. He was the only place who said he could do ANYTHING besides laser. We told him he could have complete artistic freedom as long as it didn't look so obviously botched. He told us to come back for an appointment and he would see what would be possible. No exaggeration, the artist worked complete magic. He actually took zero artistic freedom and somehow fixed it to how it was originally supposed to be. The tattoo is almost perfect and when we showed people afterwards they could not believe the difference. I am extremely detail oriented and I stared at the tattoo for a long time and it was literally perfect. If the original had come out like that, we would've been thrilled. If the owner reading this remembers this travesty we brought in and can remind me of the artists name, he and the original man we spoke to were saints. This is the only place we and our family would ever go for more tattoos, this place deserves to stay open forever. They chat you up a bit and then you meet your artist. In my case I had Chris Raft who was an expert in eastern and Japanese traditional tattoos. He draws up an example, prints it out and brings you back into the room. This place has separate rooms for each artist. Super clean and upscale looking. He laid down the stencil making sure it's positioned in the exact way wanted. He laid down the finest outline I ever had, filled it in with color that was flawless in every way. Talking the whole time making me feel comfortable. Super cool guy, when it's all done give you the opportunity to review it, take your photos for the gram, and gives you two different ways of protecting it. They have a second skin and the old school way of protecting your investment. The prices here are on the higher end but the services justified the price. You have to remember this is a permanent investment and you shouldn't go by price alone. I will be coming back here to get more work done with Chis in the very near future.

The shop is really modern and cool and clean. He did nice clean work and was very nice and they helped me pick and font and size.
