We have had food from many different countries around the Mediterranean and like all restaurants some are good and some not so good. Sara's is perhaps the best I have eaten anywhere. For starts the service, our server Josh was excellent. He was courteous, he was attentive and asked all the right questions. We ordered a combination appetizer tray, lentil soup, a tabouleh salad and an entrée. The appetizer came out with hot pita which was excellent. Both the lentil soup and the tabouleh salad were among the best I have ever had. The baba ganoush, the falafels and the dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) were all three among the best I have ever had. Often fried falafels are coarse and dry but these were moist, tender and flavorful. The tahini dipping sauce was excellent as well. My wife's combination kafta (chicken and beef) came with the supreme rice which was also excellent. The ambience was very clean and modern as was the music fascinating and lively. Across the board, everything was excellent. We chatted a good bit with one of the owners who told us that all the cuisine represented generations of family recipes. All this, in what I consider one of the least likely of places; Roswell, New Mexico. If you are in Roswell and you like good food, Sara's is a can't miss restaurant. Bravo, Sara's.

As I traversed this lengthy highway from beginning to end, I knew Sara's was a must-see! Is it delicious? Yes! It's very good! The hummus appetizer with chicken shawarma is fabulous. You could make an entire meal out of it. The lamb is okay, but the bed of rice that accompanies the lamb is very, very good. Have I had better Mediterranean food in other cities and even in the Mediterranean? Absolutely! But for the little town of Roswell, this is pretty impressive cuisine and an excellent choice for dinner!

The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the food continues to be delicious. This place definitely gives you more bang for your buck when it comes to food. I highly recommend their combo plate. The tacos and enchiladas are great and the plate is almost too much food, but is the right size for a working man.

We parked to eat and saw that we got 2 singles with mustard. Mistakes happen and we hit the lunch hour rush which could've played a role. They were very busy with pre-orders as well as drive thru. I just need my order fixed. When taking my burger back in, they argued about it being a double saying it wasn't a double. That this one had extra pickles. They both had extra pickles. I know what was ordered. They started going through receipts but finally just made the double burger with mayo & forgot the extra pickles. Food - The burger was okay. Not much flavor but not bad. Definitely no wow factors. The fries were basic. - 3 stars Customer Service - Nice when we first showed up in the drive thru. She handed us a paper menu. I would've overlooked the mistake and give a good CS review if the person didn't become argumentative about fixing our order. - 1 star Price - Reasonably priced. - 3 st

I usually have a rule when traveling that I don't visit the same restaurant more than once, but this place was the exception. I came back three times in two days. Yes, it was that good. Sadly, the third time I came back, they were closed. The food tasted very authentic and absolutely worth the visit. I noticed some reviews mentioned communication issues or that the staff may not speak much English. I had a little bit of that struggle too, but honestly, that's how you know you might be in the right place for truly authentic Mexican food. I also felt like it was partly my fault for not doing enough research before ordering. But we figured it out, and the food was more than worth it. One small suggestion: it would be helpful if the menu had a little more English explanation, pictures, or item numbers to make ordering easier for both customers and staff. Overall, this is the kind of true hidden gem you hope to find in a small town. I would definitely take a detour to come back here whenever I'm in the area again.

So much so that five years later, on a completely different road trip, you find yourself checking the map and thinking... "we're kind of close." Back in 2021, while exploring nearby national parks, we stumbled across Carnicería San Juan de los Lagos and loved it. This time, on our way to White Sands National Park, we made a small detour to see if it still held up. First surprise... I barely recognized the area. What used to feel like the middle of nowhere has filled in. Suburban life has arrived. Growth happened. But the place? Still there. Still good. Inside, it keeps that same warm, easy charm. Cute wood, farm-style Mexican decor, nothing fancy, just welcoming. The space has grown too, now clearly divided into restaurant, carnicería, and panadería, which means more reasons to linger. And the smell when you walk in? That alone could convince you to stay. Service was just as we remembered, sweet, friendly, and genuine. The kind that makes you feel like a regular even if you've been gone for five years. We went with pozole and shrimp tacos, and both delivered. Flavorful, comforting, exactly what we were hoping for. It's always a bit of a gamble revisiting a place you loved years ago. This one paid off. Still a favorite. Still worth the stop.

The interior is surprisingly large with a spacious dining room to the right, more seating near the bar, and even an outdoor space that had live music when we went. Spicy Beef Nachos Appetizer: Chips topped with queso, green onions, jalapeños, black olives, tomatoes, guacamole, and sour cream. My friend got this and I had a couple bites. Chips were not soggy and it was large enough to cover as his dinner. Green Chile Burger: Topped with monterey jack cheese and roasted chopped Chaves County-grown hot green chile. Served on a jalapeño bun with a side of our hot green chile sauce. Their signature burger and it tasted good. I don't need too much food but the amount of fries I got was too little even for me. Got two Johnny Walker Blacks with a splash of coke and they came well mixed and quickly. We did end up getting rained in and hilariously went back for a second dinner to wait out the rain. Black corn taquitos were OK, I would not get the fried shrimp basked again, the shrimp was too small and there was too much breading.
