Fresh cookies and cakes and unbelievable donuts. The staff was plentiful and very helpful. Too many to choose from. I ended up getting standard glazed donut (they had just sold the last of their blueberry cake to the guy in front of me ) and a maple frosted vanilla cream filled stick. Oh man...the glazed donut was 10 out of 10. I waited to have the second donut until later in the day and man...that maple frosted was amazing! Totally worth stopping. Fantastic place. Fantastic staff. Fantastic donuts. They have been making donuts for a long time and with them being this good...I understand why they have been successful at doing it.

Now it isn't uncomfortably spicy but you get some burn. Secondly, the chili is THICK! (My pic showed my spoon standing up in the chili). The chili dog was good, probably the same chili, as it was not a coney. I'm used to a coney sauce with a bit more onion but theirs was good. Service was excellent as our waitress took care of our table and others near us. The environment was not quiet, it bordered on loud but we could carry on conversations. The real key is would I return? Yes, tomorrow would be great. Their menu has so many options I could eat here five days in a row and not get the same thing.

Several older couples out having dinner. Your diner fare on the menu. My wife got the hot turkey sandwich and I got the club. We both agreed that the sandwiches were ok but not out of this world. The fries were really good. The coney dog was tasty and just the right amount of toppings to keep it from getting super sloppy. The Pies! Well, that is a different deal. We were full so we took ours to go but man...the variety of pies is great and the taste! Man oh man...they got their pie game on. Both choices we picked (Oreo and lemon meringue) were top choices. Sooooooooooo good. Again, worth the stop. Food was average but the pies...yeah, definitely worth the stop.

And, as I was checking in, the hotel desk clerk recommended to me. I ordered the steak salad. It was so good & so unusual. Fresh spring mixed lettuce, cucumber, lots of cheese, a healthy portion of steak, mandarin oranges and, to top it off, nice, big onion rings. The service was good as well. This seems to be a local favorite; lots of groups and families, and some people who were also waiting were talking about how everything they get is good. Definitely worth a stop!

What bothered me even more than the burnt food was how the situation was handled. As soon as I mentioned it, the manager took off. The waitress went to the back, came back, and told me, "Sorry, they all look like that," then just left the food on the table. No offer to replace them, remake them, or make the situation right. If they all look like this, then why are they being served to customers? My order was $38.33. Food costs way too much nowadays to pay for something that is clearly burnt and then have the concern brushed off. I understand mistakes happen, but customer service is about how you handle those mistakes. I checked my food before I even left and gave them the opportunity to fix the problem. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable--I simply didn't want to pay for burnt food. In what world is this acceptable? The picture speaks for itself. Very disappointing experience.
