They make pretty good donuts! The French toast cream stick is very good, and the peanut butter stick is also good. I hope they do well!

Whisk is simply one of the best lunch/bakery/catering places you will find in the Ohio Valley. We…read moreeat there almost weekly for lunch (and of course to grab a couple flavors of cupcakes to try!), have used them many many times to cater small events (bridal showers, birthdays, etc) and recently asked them if they could make cupcakes for the cookie table for our wedding! I think the total came out to just shy of 500 mini-cupcakes in 5 different flavors... They were all beautiful (photo credit: Hannah Barlow Photography) and absolutely DELICIOUS! We were worried with all the cupcakes and cookies from friends that we would have a ton of leftovers, but those cupcakes went FAST! We can't thank or recommend them highly enough, they are the best! Oh, and the cake! They also did our wedding cake, we wanted something small (just for the two of us), elegant, and fun, and they absolutely nailed it! Perfect and delicious and we are not proud of the amount of cake we have eaten - it's just so good!

UPDATED REVIEW:…read more Ordered a round tier cake for a family celebration. Icing flowers on top were beautiful but icing on the side was a combination of too many colors and some bare brown spots(side colors weren't requested but would have been fine if it would have looked better). Buttercream icing tasted delicious however it was too thick and looked like it was used to fill where the top tier was slanted equaling too much icing and not enough cake. The cake tasted good but not great because the texture was too airy, very crumbly, and lacked some in flavor. Overall my opinion is that it tasted better than some cakes made from a box and even some grocery store cakes but it left a lot to be desired as bakery cake made from scratch. Additionally, I ordered a dozen mixed berry scones. These scones did not taste as good as the scones I ordered from Whisk a couple years ago. I nuked them to soften and warm but unfortunately the mixed berries were hardly tasted or seen and a flour type taste overwhelmed my palate.

A Pain Au Chocolat croissant better than what you'll find anywhere in France? I'm thinking yes. No,…read moreI'm telling you, yes! So rich and flaky, they've definitely done their homework, and this boy knows his croissants! I just got back from Paris (name drop.) This up-and-coming baker of the finest croissants this side of the Atlantic is located in Zanesville, Ohio, but you won't need a day trip to experience their flaky layers of perfection. You can find them at their Granville Market booth, at various Zanesville events throughout the year or now in Columbus, OH, at The Hills Market, in the freezer section in 6-count boxes. Even more exciting news is they bought a new place in May, are currently renovating and planning a late September 2014 opening of a storefront. Can. not. wait. Fall. road. trip. You can also order their goodies on their site, which I haven't done (obviously.) A 12 pack runs around $40, which is a little steep but once you do the math $3 each for such quality is quite a deal. Especially when round-trip tickets from Columbus to Paris is averaging what, $1100-$1700?

I decided to buy basically one of everything they had left(come early) and I was amazed with all of it. The croissants are what croissants are *supposed* to be, but the real star of the show for me was the mushroom quiche. I could eat those things daily and not complain. If you make your way in, be sure to try a little bit of everything. That's my only advice. Oh, and like I said, come early.

I feel like there is something for everyone here! My husband thought the Dutch apple pie was out of this world. I thought it was different because it was chopped oats. We were not a huge fan of the chocolate chip cookies, the texture kinda got me, and the chocolate chips were an interesting flavor. My mom thought the pecan tarts were so yummy. I could literally taste how fresh and homemade that dough was, I thought it was very good as well, but probably would try something else instead next time. The cinnamon roll was interesting because I thought it was a lot more Joey than we used to and it had an icing on top. I actually really liked it. I am not someone that likes the super glazed sweet stuff so this was the right amount for me. My husband and I were not huge fans of the Fry pies. They were glazed, which is a personal preference. But the filling was just too much for me, I like more writing than filling, especially in the middle. It was a little overwhelming. I also felt like they were filled with more of the canned stuff rather than fresh bc of the consistency. The fresh sourdough bread was out of this world. I'd definitely recommend getting a bread loaf!!!

We have tried many baked goods in the area and I have to say the glazed donuts were one of the best I have had. So light, pillowy and full of flavor. I was not so much a fan of the chocolate chip cookies, but my family loved the molasses and ginger cookies.
