It's been awhile since I've posted a yelp review, but I absolutely had to give Michael's 5 stars. I…read morecalled him on a Thursday morning asking if he could do a dozen lemon cupcakes for my son's first birthday and have them ready by Saturday - a real last minute order. He said he wouldn't have time to add custom decorations, but I had an idea and had him frost 11 in green and 1 in red. When I picked them up on Saturday, he added two cookies to the box. I also ordered a meat pie and a kofta wrap and while I was waiting, he gave me two pieces of warm baklava, fresh from the oven! Absolutely delicious. When everything was ready, he carried it out to my car for me, since I had the stroller. He's such a kind man. And oh my gosh... possibly the best cupcakes I've ever had. The frosting was light and more buttery than sweet. I usually take the frosting off of cupcakes but I didn't this time because it was just too good. The lemon curd center was tangy and just the right level of sweetness. I will return to Michael's for every birthday/anniversary/party from now on. Oh and that meat pie is going to live in my brain forever. So aromatic and delicious... I got it for my husband but had eaten half of it by the time I got home. Whoops!

I came across Love + Flour's booth at Snowport in Boston, so this review is for their baked goods…read moreand not the physical location. But now that I know they're in Salem, I'll be visiting very soon! The macarons were front and center in the booth, and I kept goggling at how beautiful they were. They are slightly larger macarons with generous fillings and bejeweled shells ($3.75 each). I asked the person manning the booth what her favorites were (sugar cookie and cookie dough), but I still had trouble deciding which to try, there were so many unique flavors. She was very helpful though. Macarons are generally gluten free, but some flavors had cookie or cake crumbs and were labeled as containing gluten (fyi all served in the same case). These macarons were certainly not dairy free, but I decided to try them anyways; they were way too tempting. The Tall Man and I ended up getting a guava and a gingerbread macaron. His dad got a pistachio and a cosmic brownie (typical brownie vs the peppermint version). If I had known he was going to get some, it would have made more sense to get a half dozen. Macarons aren't cheap cookies, but they were certainly worth it. The guava was the plainest in appearance and taste. It wasn't decorated, and only the shell was flavored not the cream; it was too subtle and could have used a jam. The gingerbread was my favorite of our choices, spicy and not overly sweet with a nice textural crunch with the mini gingerbread sprinkles. The cosmic brownie had fun chunky sprinkles and a very fudgy texture, which was more brownie than macaron like (probably intentionally), but the taste was like a typical brownie so I would get something different next time. I didn't get to try the pistachio, but my father in law enjoyed it, and he doesn't even like cookies. Everything on display was beautifully fun to look at. I was also intrigued by their hot chocolate bombs and cake jars, but more as eye candy since they were full of gluten and dairy (but would make for great gifts!).

I was recently married...August 13th!! I took on a ton of DIY projects and planning...needless to…read moresay, I needed help throughout the planning and toward the final days... Melissa of Dreams in Buttercream had helped out with weddings previously and I asked her if she'd be interested in being our coordinator ... she did SUCH an amazing job on everything ... my cupcakes and mini-cake to cut for my wedding were so yummy! We chose chocolate cake/cupcakes half with raspberry filling and half with cream filling with buttercream frosting and lavender fondant roses (to stand up to the August heat) and I can honestly say that I have NEVER had such a delicious cupcake or wedding cake in my life! Everyone has been raving about the cupcakes and we still even have some in the freezer that we pull out for a tasty-treat! Melissa's husband, Felipe, is a DJ on the side and acted as the Emcee (MC) and the two of them together coordinated my entire wedding for me. After all the plans were in place, I need someone to be in charge of everything the day before, be the contact for all the vendors (caterer, bartenders, liquor drop-off, tent delivery, flower pick-up, etc.), set-up, and breakdown at the end of the night (we rented a facility that this was part of the agreement). She helped everyone at the church and got everyone down the aisle for us and went back to the reception site to make sure everything was ready. Everything ran so smoothly, Melissa and Felipe fielded all the phone calls the day before and the day of the wedding, as I was, obviously, tied up in entertaining family and preparing for the wedding. Everything was perfect and exactly as I had hoped it would turn out, every single detail down to the place settings and even little extras Melissa thought of that put the final touches on everything! Melissa even took pictures of the entire reception site so I could see it set up before everyone arrived...I am so grateful for this - it was everything I envisioned! Everyone has remarked on the DJ and music and how great of a time they all had dancing...and everyone knows how important music is at a wedding!!! All the timing of announcing, first dances, cake-cutting, garder and bouquet toss, dancing, all the way down to the last dance were perfect! Everything was PERFECT!!! I highly recommend Dreams in Buttercream and Collazo Events for your next big party. Melissa and Felipe were spectacular to say the least. Thank you guys for everything!!!!!!! Amy and Galen
