Bitter hot fudge in "large" container.

Well when I went there at 7pm tonight on a beautifully bright Friday evening for the first time I was prepared for a long wait - as anyone that has been to Treadwell's, Smolak Farms or Richardson's Ice Cream can attest - this is prime ice cream time. When I was able to park right in front and go in with only one other lone customer inside, it was my first clue that something was definitely amiss. Especially considering it's right next to a playground and youth center full of kids. The service was slow with young high school kids working the counter with no supervision and we were informed the owner had already left for the day. They were all over the place in terms of service. My order consisted of 3 "large" hot fudge sundaes. However their "large" is a joke. I'm not expecting a whole pint of ice cream or anything but I legitimately thought they had given me the wrong sizes before they explained otherwise. I guess I should have paid better attention. Their small size was about the size of a small Hoodsie cup I used to get in grade school. Certainly not worth what they were charging for them and especially when they don't even fill the dish with ice cream and then load half of it with the most bitter tasting hot fudge I've ever had. The hot fudge was so bad that I was forced to eat around it because it completely ruined the taste. The whip cream was painted on so fine I could barely distinguish it and they forgot my cherry. My friends and I all agreed to cross this place off our lists. They get two stars solely because they had the good sense to serve Richardson's ice cream. That's it. It's definitely worth the ride straight to Richardson's in Middleton the next time we have a craving rather than ever going here again.

Plenty of flavors, generous serving sizes, nice staff. They have the "skinny" sprinkles which are the best. :) Free doggie ice cream.

not too hard and not too soft (my pet peeve is runny ice cream) and definitely Richardson's quality and that we expect!

They have a great mix of classic and specialty flavors. Prices are above average, but I would still consider it competitively reasonable. They do note in several places that their fresh raspberry ice cream is slightly more expensive. Butter Pecan is one of my go-to flavors, so I had to try it. But I'm also pretty fussy about it. There's 2 types of butter pecan. One is the more yellow/buttery flavor, and the other is more beige-colored with more of a butterscotchy flavor. Theirs seems to be more of the latter - still delicious, but not my personal favorite style of that flavor. But any quirky opinions on the butter pecan were blown away with the Black Forest ice cream. Oh my, that was delicious, with the dark sweet cherries and all those chocolate chunks. But beware if you have dental work, the cold chocolate chunks will be rock hard. If you have any concerns, let them melt a little bit, in the cup/cone or in your mouth, before biting into them. A lot of my local friends frequently mention why they enjoy coming here. I can see why.

The corn maze itself was so much more difficult than we thought it would be and I mean that in a good way. We ended up getting completely lost and after 40 or so minutes we stumbled out of the entrance (we couldn't find the exit). I would totally go here again!

The corn maize was fun and we managed to get through it in about 30 minutes. Met a lot of other happy walkers on the way. After that, we went to visit the goats, cows and donkeys in the field which also included a pond. It was a beautiful sunny serene afternoon with adults and children enjoying the farm and the pastoral scenery. We purchased a dozen of the delicious apple cider donuts and enjoyed some on the way home. Admission was very reasonable, $8 per adult. We also brought home a pumpkin. Plan to return to try the hay ride and Richardson's ice cream. The staff was very friendly and gladly answered any questions we had. My husband said he had never seen a cow standing in a pond before but the staff member told us that the animals enjoy the pond, especially in the hot weather. All the animals looked healthy, happy and well-fed which was a big issue for me. Great job Crescent Farms!
