I have been searching for a specialized fabric pattern - breast cancer awareness and no one has it!! The kind ladies at Not Your Mama's Quilt Store got online and started doing a search for who might manufacture it and where I could possibly get it. I wanted to sew a scrub cap for my surgeon DIL and get it to her within the week in time for Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. I finally found some on Amazon that came in a short time. Etsy would print fabric on demand but not get here til mid month. The store is beautifully arranged with nice fabrics and quilting accessories and the prices seemed very reasonable. Anyway, I was so impressed with the helpfulness and kindness I received and I didn't even buy anything. It's so rare to come across a store/sales clerks that will go to that high of a customer service level! Anytime I need quilting fabric I am definitely coming here! read more

They have a good selection of fabrics. I like going through them because when I have tried to order fabrics online it is hard to guess what the texture is really going to feel like and some of the colors can also be off. So my preference has really been to find the fabrics I want in person. I went in here and found a great fabric to make the backing of Christmas stockings that I needle pointed. I liked looking around and it is a cute store and most importantly I found the perfect fabric. read more

This is a one stop shop for quilting and sewing. The fabric selection here is large and different than fabrics I've seen anywhere else. There also sell tools, rulers, patterns, etc. They have classes and demos as well as several long arm quilting options. Everyone who works here is very helpful and kind. read more

I was so disappointed today. After making a concerted effort to visit the shop I left all my purchases at the counter and walked out after the cashier and a customer had an extended, loud conversation about how teachers are at fault for the failures in today's students because "all they teach is self love." As a teacher and a customer, I was very surprised to hear an employee repeatedly and loudly affirm and agree with the customer's ludicrous assertions. At one point I even stepped forward to attempt to redirect (since I am a 25 year high school teacher) and the response was "well, good for you, but most teachers are not like that and do not teach anything of value." The customer went on to assert that this was why she had to go lobby in Austin to have teachers "told what to do" and the employee continued to agree with her. You cannot control what your customers say -- but you CAN redirect the conversation and not agree with their accusations. I totally recognize there are problems in education, and I'm not in any way saying there are not. However standing in a quilt store purchasing fabric is not the place for that discussion. Just like I keep my personal views on subjects unrelated to my class out of the classroom, I would expect a store that wants me to spend my money on their goods to do the same. As a customer, the last thing I want to do is spend my hard earned money in a store that thinks so little of me and what I do, and I would encourage all educators to think twice before offering their patronage. read more

Beautiful store in their new Plano location on the southwest corner of Coit and Spring Creek. Beautiful selection of fabric, including plenty of Kaffe, Art Gallery, Moda and Free Spirit. The owner Tisha is a complete doll and has a great eye for fabric and an even better eye for merchandising - the store always looks fantastic. Love that there are plenty of great notions, kits, and gifts as well. Took the pics while waiting for a sandwich next door...it's even prettier with the lights on! read more

"Oh what a gem of a store I have found." I was informed by my quilting friends of this store called, "Not your Mama's Quilt Store." All of my friends have just raved about it so I thought I'd go take a look. "WoW" I have found a new place to shop and was so very pleased with the large and very colorful and updated selection of fabrics, quilt kits and also sewing kits, and much more. I was greeted quickly by the very friendly and extremely knowledgeable staff and they took their time with me and helped me, offered suggestions and showed me all the new fabrics. Yes, I did tell my husband, "I am going to just 'look' " but...... found myself at the register buying enough items to keep me busy. I was informed they have a "wish list" so that my husband can go in there and simply review it, and buy the items. They also offer gift cards. I now know what I will be asking for my b-day and Christmas and that "just because" gift. Thank you "Not your Mama's Quilt Store" (love that name) for a wonderful shopping experience. My mother in law and i came to this store for the first time last month and we love it. I even came back later to buy a LED Light Tracer for her birthday. Everyone in this store is really friendly and helpful. My mother in law took the Nick Santa class and she said it was wonderful. The teacher Trish was fabulous, she explained everything very clear, lots of laughing, sharing materials, she loves the atmosphere. She came home with a start of a great looking Santa. read more

This is the cutest little quilt shop with the kindest, most helpful people! My mother in law heard about this shop while watching a YouTube video of a quilted runner, and had to go while paying us a visit from Oklahoma. All of the ladies were super nice and helpful, especially (I'm sorry I don't remember her name, but she was the owner's right hand gal). She was very patient with my MIL, as she is a beginner/intermediate sewer, and answered every question and helped her pick out and order exactly what was needed for her project. This woman excused herself to help the owner with a Facebook live video in the back of the store, which sounded like they were having so much fun! I was smiling from ear to ear behind my mask just listening to them :). This was a great experience and I'm not a sewer in the slightest. We will definitely be back and support this gem of a local business, and I suggest you do as well! read more

As an experienced quilter, I was excited to see this quilt store on my way home from work and decided to stop in, but was disappointed. While there are some pretty fabric, there was no unique fabrics that I cannot find elsewhere. I was about to leave when someone finally came up to ask if I needed assistance because the ladies were all gathered and chatting together. I found that this store is about crafting rather than traditional old school quilting. The purpose of my visit was 1) find the best iron recommended for quilters and if it coincides with my internet research; and 2) class or pattern for a double wedding ring quilt. I can tell that the lady may have been a casual quilter since she had no recommendations for a good quilting iron. She actually scoffed when I asked about wanting to learn how to properly piece a double wedding ring and said "no one has ever asked for that!" Perhaps I am an old school quilter and need to find a good grandmother rather than "not your mama." But hey, I know where to go if I want to make a makeup bag or piece a beginner top. read more
