While visiting Family in Pennslyvania there was a request for some bagels. A quick Google search led me to this lovely establishment and it did not disappoint. From the moment you walk in, you have the incredible smell of freshly baked bagels and warm smiles and you know it's gonna be good. Different Cheesesteak #1230. I found myself in Allentown on an early Sunday morning. I was hoping to find a hidden gem. And I did! I was picturing an old farmhouse, but I'll take my gems whenever and however they are. Nice bright clean place. Everyone was polite and helpful. A busy place. Most of the tables were occupied, and a steady flow of takeout orders. I saw Cheddar Cheese Ball Cheesesteak on the menu. You know I had to get it. I got it on an everything bagel. Service was good. Food less than par in my opinion. I ordered a sausage, egg (fyi, default fried), provolone cheese on garlic bagel toasted with butter. Extra add-ons were onion (default red onion which I like), avocado, and spinach. The bagel was ok. Slightly chewy. The avocado is a paste. Seems premade, and the spinach is not fresh. It is also paste like. I was not aware of that. Also order home fries. Again, nothing to write home about but they did have bits of peppers and onion. Overall was just ok. Made me appreciate the shop close to home. read more

They make bagels here and they make them very well. Toasted jalapeno cheddar bagel was very good. Had a little chicken salad added on bagel. Iced coffee was good. They have a machine they use to make loukoumades, or Greek donuts. They made a batch of Peanut Butter Loukoumades to order and they were so good! First bagel in the Lehigh valley! I came by to drop off something at UPS and figured I'd check out the place. What's not to love at Not Just Bagels? Good bagels, crumb cake, fresh to order cannolis, empanadas they got it. Not to mention fresh squeezed oj. I have always felt that the Lehigh Valley is lacking in the Bagel shop experience. So I was excited when I found out a new one had opened up. Not Just Bagels is a good addition to the Valley. They are mostly a Bagels/breakfast spot with a light lunch menu and a hint of Greek food. For breakfast they have bagels, sandwiches, and platters. For lunch they have cold sandwiches, salads, and a few hot sandwiches. The breakfast sandwiches were good but not the best I have ever had, they were a little lacking in the filling department. The hash browns were also a little to greasy for me as well. However the bagel was really good. The staff working was greet, the guy that took our order had the energy of someone that loved his job or he drank way to much coffee, I am not sure. The place looks nice on the inside and outside, but it is cramped with all the tables abs chair. Overall a good place to stop and get breakfast. I will be back again. read more

Read the good reviews and came here to try some bagels and the reviews were right, the bagels were delicious. We tried three different types of bagels, all ingredients were fresh and nice and especially whole wheat everything bagels were heavenly good. To provide some background, I'm not a huge fan of bagels. They are often too dense and thick and not so pleasant to eat. But these were so different from the mainstream bagels. All so airy, light and easy to chew. And did I already mention the freshness and good ingredients? Yes I did but had to repeat, ha ha. Also, the coffee followed the same line of freshness and great flavor and the overall ambiance was really nice. And of course, great service. So, if you ever visit Allentown or live somewhere and grave for a quick eat and great coffee, this is the place to visit. read more

Stopped by this morning for my usual order, egg bagel with scallion cream cheese and a fresh squeezed orange juice. Sometimes a hash brown. Compared to other bagel spots in the area, I will drive out of my way for Not Just Bagels. The fresh scallions in the scallion cream cheese and the fresh oj is worth it! This spot had become my go-to, day 1. The staff is always very friendly and energetic. The service is great and efficient with a morning rush. Today Costa and Christina were awesome and as always welcoming! I will continue to be a return patron and highly recommend to everyone! read more

It's All About The "Skin" on the Bagel! That is what boiling a bagel gets you, and that is what "Not Just Bagels" brings to the table. A OUTSTANDING traditional bagel that has long been missed in our area. We dropped in today, to give it a try, and we were not disappointed. There was a line of patient customers about 5 deep. We were a little worried, until we saw it disappear in less that 4-5 minutes. Maybe less. The service is great. They have order entry figured out, that is Key for a shop like this. Nothing like their FAR distant competition down the road, 3 something or another. Don't let them waste your time. Our new go to is "Not Just Bagels". This is a great place, and a cool shop. There is a lot going on here. Oh, yeah. The bagels. They are huge! Made fresh Daily! Did I mention they are Boiled! Great flavor, great chew, great staff! They remember your name also. Phenomenal bagels!!!. The shop is absolutely adorable and very Metropolitan. The cream cheese delicious. I had the strawberry and the vegetable ...taste so fresh. You can tell that this shop was well thought in preparing it for the community. Very well executed. Great menu with sandwiches and much more. Seating is available so you can pop in sit have coffee and a bagel or muffin, or any of the multitude of great items on the menu. I think it's a gem of the Lehigh Valley. After a reasonable wait, an older woman brought out our order and said "here's your lox and bagel and your avocado toast". The food service was unremarkable. Our waiter was not particularly friendly nor personable. The drinks were a weak start. The red sangria was poor. The bourbon cocktail was an odd mix of bourbon, apple cider, and other elements--an awkward, Frankenstein-style whiskey sour that simply didn't work. Worst of all, both drinks were served in thin plastic cups, which immediately cheapened the entire experience. I ordered the falafel sandwich and specifically requested a toasted bun. It arrived not just room temperature, but cold. I sent it back, and it returned burning hot... the bottom soggy... literally too hot to pick up... with no browning or color change, clearly microwaved. Microwaving is not toasting. At that point, the sandwich was inedible. I removed the bun entirely and ate just the falafel, which was dry and largely tasteless. At this point I knew coming back to this restaurant was a mistake. Food timing was another issue. The dishes took roughly 45 minutes to arrive after the drinks, possibly longer. We were all getting annoyed and what started out well when we first walked in turned negative. I wasn't impressed on my first visit years ago... and this second visit confirmed it. Between the poor drinks, cheap plastic cups, ridiculously long wait (with no explanation nor apology), and careless food execution, there's no reason to return.

The Iced coffee was also good, I like that the ice cubes were made with coffee. The service was good, she was friendly and answered our questions and gave us recommendations. The inside looks basic but gets the job done. This place is also cheaper than I expected with the boom in gourmet cookie places charging $5 a cookie, this place is a steal at less than half that for some stuff. Overall a very good local bakery to stop in when ever your looking for a sweet treat.

With a limited menu that changes regularly, they prepare rich meals of both quality and quantity. I had a sausage and potato stuffed omelet with carmelized onions that was a very delicious monster. Quite often, home fries are either greasy, or over-cooked, or even over-seasoned, but these were perfect. It seemed as if they had just pulled the potatoes from the ground that morning. My girlfriend had the best, "meatiest" tomato soup I have ever tasted, and her gourmet grilled cheese blew my mind. (If I didn't love her so much, I would have stolen it from her!) For dessert, we had white-chocolate raspberry cookies that were yummy beyond reproach. (The cakes in the dessert display may bring people to tears.) The service was also wonderful and the coffee really hit the spot. Reservations recommended and there is parking in the rear of the establishment.

Disappointed by exorbitant water charge While the food was ok, I must express my disappointment with an unexpected charge. To my surprise, I was billed a whopping $2.25 for a simple cup of tap water. First and foremost, I understand that businesses need to cover their expenses, but charging such an exorbitant amount for tap water is unjustifiable. As a customer, I believe it's reasonable to expect complementary tap water, especially considering the high prices already associated with menu items. When I later came back and ask why we were charged for tap water, the cashier replied "I made a mistake" - with a "I don't really care" tone. I hope the management of the bagel shop will reconsider their staff training. Would I come back again? Nope, not at all. read more
