Upgraded my experience. They tried to fix our gas fireplace 2 months ago, but it still leaks combustion gases into our home. I have called twice, once during business hours and once outside, one week apart, left detailed messages both times. No reply. I believe they are a capable shop, IF you can get their attention. They seem to be way over booked and not well managed. I like these guys, but they are not dependable nor prompt- if you get through you will be booked months out! Only one good review this past year, there's a problem here.

I talked to sereral companies in the Santa Barbara area, and wasn't particularly impressed with their service, until I spoke with Tom at Country Hearth. Tom stood out to me because of his vast knowledge and experience in the industry and his willingness to go above and beyond to help me. Over the course of a month or so, he was very prompt in returning my calls or text messages and helped me settle on the prefect insert for our home. When it came time to do the install, he and his installer were efficient and tidy. I'm sure when it comes time to service our insert he will handle it with the same level of courtesy. KENT IS THE REAL DEAL!!…read more Unfortunately, I'd called the FAKE Village Chimney Sweep I found by searching the internet, a company that hijacked Kent's information and his photos. Kent was who I expected to come to my house, but an Israeli man came from Camarillo. He walked outside, looked up at my chimney and told me it would cost $1,200 to fill the visible cracks in two bricks. He didn't even go up to look at the crown! I asked him what he was going to do to fix it and he said he would shoot glue in the cracks. He told me to give him a check for $1,200 and he would hold it for 3 days but I had to make a decision right away so he could do it immediately because he didn't know when he was going to be back in Santa Barbara County. I was so confused because Kent is local to Lompoc! He didn't even know who Kent was! Was very uncomfortable and sent him away. Then I checked the business license posted on the fake site and found that it doesn't exist. The man who was in my house made me very nervous and I'm glad because that caused me to refuse any service or negotiation from him. I had been lazy by not going to my fireplace to get Ken's magnetic business card that he gave me over 10 years ago after I bought this house. Kent uncapped and cleaned my chimney, added a gas pipe, a damper, and a fireplace screen. A few years later, I had him come out for a cleaning but he said that I didn't need it. Honestly, I had not been using my fireplace for a while. He didn't charge me for coming out. When the pull chain on my damper broke, he got a new unit and replaced it at no charge. After that fake guy left, I finally got smart and grabbed Kent's business card from my fireplace. I called him and told him what happened. He told me he had heard months before that someone was using his business name. To make a long story short, Kent came out and got on my roof to check out my chimney and the crown. Both needed repair and he came out a few days later, did a thorough repair, completely cleaned the area, and my charge was about half of what the crook wanted me to prepay. Kent is honest, clean, thorough, and absolutely the best and only local to Santa Barbara County chimney sweep that I would ever consider using. We were assured that it was the top of the line, so without seeing anything in person, we took the word of the sales manager and ordered it. Once it was installed (by the installer they set up for us) it was immediately evident that it was "rickety" at best. It was also an eyesore, with bright, plastic looking chrome on the handle which would have been impossible to see from the tiny thumbnail across the counter we looked at before agreeing to purchase (totally on us). But more importantly it wasn't stable. It rattles horribly when you open it. It rattles horribly when you close it. And it moves all around inside of its compartment. When we contacted the store, complete with video, we were told "no refunds," which was never disclosed during the purchase process. The receipt is emailed to you with the disclosure after you purchased the item and leave the store. The response from the manager was that this was the highest quality trash compactor on the market, despite the videos showing the contrary. He said maybe the install was dome incorrectly but his installer, who is very nice, told us that was the best he could do, so it was basically too bad for us. Buyer beware.

They did so super Duper thoroughly, took there time, from the top of the chimney all the way down. They found absolutely nothing wrong with it. They swept it at a reasonable price.
