We signed a contract. They required a deposit of $1,000. I was on their installation schedule for a complete reroof. A couple of months after I signed the contract they decided they underbid my project wanted to charge me substantially more compared to the original quote. With the revised quote they also reduced the work to a partial roof project (about 25%) of the original quote for the entire roof. That reduced scope went up in price from the original reroof project. One would expect that if you were going to do25% of the original square footage there would be a reduction in price for the reduced scope of work. That's not what happened here. The scope went down by 75% and the price went up from the original price. Needless to say, I found another roofer (Mid State) who could do the work in time for my insurance cut off date for a much better price and also seems to be more on top of things. As of this review Wicks is not responding to my request to refund the deposit on the contract they refused to perform on at the agreed upon price. It seems like they are having some rather unfortunate management issues. The guys I worked with at Wicks seemed really great. I think this is a management issue. The whole is = to the some of its parts. Some of the parts of this organization are good, some not so much. Hopefully they can get their management issues resolved. I wish them well. In the mean time I may have to take them to small claims court to get my deposit back. Not a great oucome. read more

I've used Wicks twice, one on a rental and recently on my home. On both occasions they were very professional and did what their estimate said without adding a bunch of extra charges. They have a 10 year warranty on their workmanship which all other companies give 5 years. Dave Pap explained things in detail which was very helpful. Submitted request for solar + roof estimate through Tesla on 5/8. Spoke with Allison on 5/9 and set up a site visit for 5/16. Received solar quote on on 5/22 and told I would be receiving a separate quote for the roof shortly. 6/4 get a solar follow up email, but still no roof quote. Allison said she would check with her roofer about the other quote, but that was the last time they communicated with me. I wish I could give them five stars, but I feel they way the handled my request was very unprofessional considering it has not been over two months for a simple quote. I was okay spending $40k on this project, but apparently they weren't interested in my business. I will be taking my business elsewhere and will not by recommending them to anyone I know. read more

We had a problem spot on our roof. With every rain, it leaked into our ceiling. We called Wicks out every time. They would "repair" and we would pay, but with the next rain, same leak. Finally, they told me we needed a completely new roof. At a cost of just under $30,000, we hired them. They finished, we paid. When it rained last month, SAME LEAK in the SAME SPOT. They sent a crew out and said, "oops, we missed a spot." The customer service is awful. Three times this year they gave us a time that they / their crews / their representative would be at our home, and all three times, they didn't show up. Go ANYWHERE else. Anywhere. Hire anyone but this company. We feel they lied about all of the repair work they "did" (didn't do) and then got us to agree to a new roof which - with the first rain - leaked. read more

I understand roofers are very busy. Wicks really let us down. Estimater came as planned, was told I'd hear back in 2 weeks and did. Signed the estimate and called several days after, was told scheduling will get back to me soon. 2 weeks later and a few more very polite calls finally connected me to scheduler. Said they're a month out, would call me in a day or two, thanked her profusely. Then crickets. Guess a $2500 job isn't worth their time, would've appreciated them telling me. They came highly recommended by my neighbors who now know better. Poor Rosie at the front desk - great person who has to deal with such indifference. I called for roofing and solar and Wick's roofing gave me a date and time for 2 weeks out for when they would be out to do a walk around and give us a quote . My wife and I took the day off i called 2 days before to confirm are appointment and time they would be out to are home I got a text message as well confirming are appointment . After waiting all morning I called 15 minutes before 12:00 for lunch time and no answer got voicemail saying they were at lunch from 12-1 pm I only called because we haven't heard from them they are late by a hour a haven't called to let us know what's happening. I called Santa Barbra office and canceled . If a contractor can't be on time for an estimate then they won't be on time for the work or completion of their work . Dave Jones did our initial inspection and he tactfully showed me where the original tile installation was done incorrectly. We pulled up tiles to find deteriorated felt and rotting wood battens because the original flashing was poorly installed, tile layout was sloppy, and the plumbing flashing were all undersized units intended for comp roofs. Then he showed me where Kyle roofers had incorrectly flashed during a supposed repair for a skylight a few years earlier. My background is decades of engineering, so I can confidently say that Dave was spot on. John gave me a bid on several repair or replacement options, and was straightforward, clear and as time would tell, very honest. He never tried to gouge for some additional work for some undetected damage that was later discovered. Conversely, he was quite fair. Because my re-roof job was more complicated than most, he visited the work twice to make sure everything was going well. Keep in mind that this is a man who's normally tied to the office. The crew, Pablo and Jose, were great. I dealt mostly with Pablo, who I later learned had forty plus years of experience, and this man and his partner truly care about doing a quality job. They went above and beyond to do things right, and let me know what they'd done. Hats off to them. I have a neighbor with a skybox view of my roof, and they were so impressed with the work that they are requesting a bid from Wicks for their new roof. I can't believe people are posting reviews based on how a Wicks truck was supposedly driven or parked. Sounds contrived to me. You should have to be an actual customer to write a review. read more

Wicks came out when we purchased our home to give an estimate on a roof leak we knew we had. They said they would get the work done in two weeks. They were unresponsive for several weeks. Finally I got a hold of them and they said they could get to it in another couple of weeks. After two months of back and forth and the first rain storm approaching, I gave up and called another roof company. I get being busy, but I didn't like being strung along and them being unresponsive after giving us a quote. read more

The company showed up on time and I received a roof estimate the same day to fix multiple water leaks inside of the house. I believe their prices are competitive. They showed up on time to do the job and I believe did great work although it's not rained yet. They always responded promptly to my inquiries. All employees were quite pleasant. No one brought dogs, used fowl language or played music. I recommend you include them when getting estimates but remember to consider other factors than cost. read more

These were great. John saw how the roof had the flashing around the chimminy and advise that we most likely had rotted wood because of the way the rain water would flow. And he was dead on. They pulled the tiles and paper back and the flake was rotted and had been eaten by termites. When I met their guys speaking with them it was clear they were very competent in their work. Nice guys too. Communication was not perfect but above average compared to the contracting world. The work looks great and of course we will see once it rains but so far its been a great experience. We had quoted another roofer who didn't suggest anything about the drainage or tell us until later that they couldn't do it in time for my close. Thank you John and Lariao!!! read more

I initially selected Wick's to install my solar battery backup system because I was fed up with the extremely poor customer service at Tesla for my solar system originally installed by Solar City. I really wanted a local option. Not only did Jared and his team provide me with a superior, clean installation, they took over the solar monitoring system, provided a great dashboard on my home computer to monitor my solar performance. They worked tirelessly to ensure the complicated process of applying for and receiving a PG&E check (not a government rebate or credit) for allowing the power company to use excess battery power when needed was completed succesfully. Terrible company. Wicks gave an estimate for roof repair in Shell beach area then set up appointment on Nov 18. Paula cancelled appointment minutes before repairs were to begin after driving 2 1/2 hrs to meet them. Rescheduled for Dec 2 and confirmed on Nov 28. No show again after driving 2 1/2 hrs to meet them so called Paula. Was told screwed up again and needed to reschedule. Asked to talk to Owner Justin but refused to take call and suggested find another roofer. Poor customer service. Can't comment on the work since they never made it to the appointments. read more

John worked with us to choose the materials and time frame for the job, and his crew was prompt, courteous and hard-working.
