The prices are also ideal with big portions... arroz chaufa is way pricier at other places. The green sauce is bomb. Had to order some to go. Apparently it's been 5 years since I had been here, so I thought I'd update my review. I gave it 3 stars then, and I'm giving it 3 stars now. Unfortunately not too much has changed in those 5 years. I called in my to go order at 4:30 pm, which is when they open for dinner. They're open for lunch from 11am - 3pm, but then they close and re-open at 4:30 pm for dinner. I was craving rotisserie chicken, so I asked the guy who answered the phone (Orlando, the owner) if the whole chicken would be too much for 2 people? He was honest and said yes. He recommended half a chicken for 2 people. I appreciated his honesty! The chicken comes with fries and salad, but I asked if I could have the beans instead of the salad, and he said yes. He said the food would be ready in 15-20 min., so off I went to pick it up. I arrived about 20 min later and it was ready. There were only 2 other tables being occupied inside, and the interior looked like it still hadn't been updated since I was last there. (Last time I noted that the interior was kind-of shabby). The 1/2 pollo brasa (rotisserie chicken) came out to $11.95 plus tax. That's quite a deal for feeding 2 people! The chicken was good - not outstanding, but good. I remember it being better 5 years ago. The fries were kinda soggy by the time I brought them home. The best part of the meal was the beans! I'm not even a beans fan, but these beans were really tasty! The bread was soft and the green sauce (which I don't normally like since most green sauces are spicy), was not spicy at all and quite enjoyable. This Peruvian restaurant is cheaper than any of the others in the area, but the overall ambiance (interior) and most importantly the taste is just average. This place could be so much better. . . Prices are reasonable. Place is in bit of dissaray, pictures eskew etc. None of the people who work there have any interest in talking to anyone. We told them it was our first visit, and still they ran off not offering to explain anything on the menu, and when asked, really couldn't. Didn't bother to ask if the food was alright or if we needed something. The shrimp dish I had were the smallest shrimps I've had in any dish except a Mexican shrimp cocktail. It had a so-so sauce on them and a side of rice. Nothing added, no veggies or anything. (or any attempt to make the dish appetizing). Hubby's dish was a saltado - ok but very dry - the calamari had been cut so small almost couldn't find them. My father and I have been coming to enjoy Peruvian food at this amazing restaurant for years now. We did not have many local options where we live but the 25 minute drive to get to this location is always worth it. The service is always friendly and the wait to get our meals is not too long. I recommend the soda Inka Cola if you enjoy something sweet and fruity. We normally order Chicharrón de pescado (Fish fritters) that has a lemon spicy sauce, or Plato de pescado (Tilapia fish plate) that comes with rice and a salad. When we feel more hungry we normally go for Lomo Saltado (sliced beef) that is stirred with tomatoes, onions, fries and a side rice. As for a sweet desert I would recommend Alfajores that are small sandwich cookies with special Caramel filling. Overall, always welcomed to come back. read more

3.75 stars We were staying in one of the nearby hotels. We happened to notice that there was a Peruvian restaurant within walking distance. We called in to Nory's to order for takeout. Upon arriving, the front door was locked, but one of the employees opened up the door right away. They were packing up our food as we arrived. We ordered the lomo saltado, arroz chaufa with beef, yucca huancaina, and salad. We also got a container of the peruvian green salsa, and bread and butter. All of the food was really good. The green salsa went perfectly with everything. It was also our first time trying the yucca huancaina. They did not have any dine-in (or outdoor options), so take-out or delivery appear to be the only options for now. This restaurant is not a fancy restaurant. In fact, the restaurant was a little dim inside when we picked up the food, probably because they were conserving electricity due to no dine in. That aside, the workers were genuinely friendly and happy to have some customers excited to eat their traditional food. If you haven't had Peruvian food ever, give it a try! read more

We saw this place yesterday while eating at Pho Bo Vang in the same strip mall. When I got home, I searched on yelp and found one review with 5 stars on it. Today, I asked hubby (who has been under the weather) what he felt like. I said we could either try this place or the Japanese one in the same strip mall. When we got there, I seriously thought he might've wanted something light -- the Japanese perhaps? -- but he said let's go to the Peruvian. The inside of the restaurant is very simple. Just some tables and booths. We were promptly given menus and then the owner brought out 2 squeeze bottles: one of the ubiquitous green sauce and the other, a light beigey colored one with a hot dog bun which has been toasted. Like I've said before, I don't know why Peruvian restaurants don't invest in better bread. You always get the same sort of drab breads but then their sauce is awesome. This place was no different. The green sauce here is not spicy but the other beige sauce had quite a kick to it. We asked the owner what was in it and he said one of the ingredients was peanuts.... so those with allergies beware. Hubby wanted a soup. He chose #17. I don't remember the name of it, but you could choose either chicken or beef. He got the chicken. I, on the other hand, can't seem to steer away from lomo saltado at a Peruvian restaurant for some reason. Since it was on the lunch specials, I got that. It came with either soup or salad, I chose soup. The soup which arrived was a chicken noodle soup (using spaghetti) with vegetables such as carrots, celery, potatoes and zucchini but what was most interesting was the fact that there were chunks of daikon in it. I'm guessing it's because the owner is Japanese Peruvian perhaps? The soup was okay. Hubby's soup (#17) arrived shortly and I took a taste. WOW it was pretty darn good. A squeeze of the spicy sauce made it awesome! Hubby said it reminded him of laksa. Just a note of caution. He ordered the 1/2 size and it was pretty big! My saltado arrived with steamed rice. I do not like potatoes in my saltado so I told them to hold the french fries. DAMN! This was the best saltado I've had to date. Very flavorful and you could tell the beef was cooked on high heat and was not stir-boiled like how some places does it. I thought the sauces were great -- a squeeze on the saltado to give it heat and the dish was out of this world. Lunch specials range from $4.95 to $6.95. You can get their special rotisserie chicken with salad and fries for $4.95 or you can get chicken specials for $5.95 or beef for $6.95. In the end, our lunch came to $15 before tip and it was, like the other reviewer said "the best Peruvian I've had so far". Good value and very tasty!! Very very close to 5 stars!!! read more

I ordered the #26; Lomo Saltado De Pollo; chicken strips, sautéed with onions, tomatoes and French fries. It had a wonderful combinations of flavors. This was the first time that I tried Peruvian food. For dessert: I ordered a Peruvian Cookie or Alfajores; with Dulce de Leche, with dusted sugar on top. It was very delicious! Disappointed. Ordered here for the first time through Door Dash today. Opened the bag to find mold on the rolls that they give you. The lomo saltado was bland and really had no flavor. My son had the pescado a lo macho and said the fish was good but was just in a buttery salty sauce and he was expecting a little more flavor as well. Made a complaint through door dash and received a credit right away. Called the restaurant directly and was told thank you for letting them know and offered a meal if I called them back another time. My family and I love it here. This is one of our go to restaurants. We usually order pollo a la brasa, parihuela, tallarin de carne, and/or milanesa de pollo. All of these plates are delicious. We give them a 10/10. If you like spicy, try the rocoto salsa. It is delicious. The owner is very nice. The only thing is the inside of the restaurant could be nicer. I came to Nory's twice but only ate there once. During my first visit, I sat down at a booth and the owner was unable to deliver a menu until 10 minutes later. I asked for water and it came in 5 minutes with a small bug inside. The owner was obviously too preoccupied watching the football (soccer) match on the TV with his buddies. It was impossible to get his attention to take my order and replace my insect water. Due to the lack of table service, I anticipated that a lunch at Nory's would require at least 1 hour. Therefore, I walked out and went down the street to Bhan Baitong where I was immediately served. I hate judging restaurants solely on table service, so I gave Nory's a second chance. This time, the owner took my order promptly, probably because Juventus F.C. had a comfortable three goal lead in the 1st half. Nory's serves a page of lunch specials for $7.75 (chicken) or $8.75 (beef), which are competitive for Peruvian lunches in the area. I ordered the tallarin saltado de pollo. Like other Peruvian restaurants in the OC, Nory served a soup before the entree. It was a chicken noodle soup. The noodles were spaghetti noodles, the same type that was found in the tallarin saltado de pollo. Nory also served complimentary bread. Unfortunately, it was a Sara Lee roll. The bread was supposed to be dipped in aji sauce that was not even close to being spicy. Tallarin saltado de pollo is a Peruvian-Chinese fusion dish that resembles a chicken chow mien but with a "Peruvian flare". Dry slices of chicken breast were used. A lot of salt was applied in addition to the puddle of soy sauce, rice vinegar, and oil. This dish was essentially a chicken chow mien with additions of pepper and spices, and substitution of chow mien noodles with spaghetti (a noodle with harder texture). The noodles were wet and the chicken was dry. The Chinese version is the opposite, the noodles and chicken are both wet from the sauces. I do not anticipate a return to Nory's due to the slow table service, substandard Peruvian food (particularly the aji sauce and soup), and dingy environment. Delicias Peruanas, a Peruvian-Japanese restaurant about 1 mile away, outperforms Nory's in every aspect. read more

So even though I live in North OC..I've never been to the Nory's in Anaheim. I decided to hit Nory's in Lake Forest on my lunch time. FOOD: Pollo Saltado with Chicken Soup. And your usual toasted hot dog bun with a green and red sauce. TASTE: Chicken soup was SO YUMMY! It had real chicken pieces with spaghetti noodles, celery and carrots. The broth tasted like actual chicken simmering for hours and not your average chicken broth mixed with water taste. The Pollo Saltado was delicious. The chicken was very tendery and moist and not dry at all. The tomatos were cooked just enough but not overcooked and smooshy. The red onions were cooked JUST right. I love peruvian style rice (they add a cup of olive oil if I recall when my friend made it) and it was just FABULOUS. I normally eat like a pig but I actually only ate half of my food because the soup was so filling. $6.75 for the entire meal. I came in for the $4.95 Rotserrie meal but I guess they were out for the day. AWW NUTS. I guess I'll have to come back. The sauces for bread dipping were good, but I think I like the green sauce a little creamier as I had at other places. Overall for the price, it was still awesome! You can't get jack for $4.95 in Lake Forest.. so Nory's being here is terrific! Yay! =) read more

Every dish that came out looked very authentic since we went with a large group and got to see a lot of the menu items. The Peruvian food here is really good and authentic. Located in a Lake Forest strip mall next to a hobby store. The atmosphere is meh. The restaurant decor is pretty generic but they have a big screen TV always playing football (soccer) during lunch. As I said the food is very good. Jalea de Pescado the best food you can order very good and very tasty

My buddy Gussy had been telling me about this place for some time, we decided to try it out. I knew exactly where this was...located in a old shopping plaza with low traffic. The plaza reminded me of the shopping plazas back in the 80s or 90s. Nothing has been updated. I walked into the restaurant and there was only 1 family sitting in a booth and the entire place was empty. A guy was sitting watching TV in another booth. Little did I know that was the owner. He got up and sat us down. The place is so so outdated and sticky, it felt dirty. Let me just say, this must be a 2 Man Show...the Owner & the Cook. We sat for awhile till he came out with a menu and asked if we wanted a drink. From that time we gave our drink orders, he took a long time to come back to ask what we wanted to order. More time passed then he came out with some heated bread with a bottle of the Peruvian Aji Sauce. Something didn't look right about the bottle he gave us. When I poured it into the small plate, it looked yellowish. Thank gosh I didn't taste it but my buddy did and it was sour. I then tasted it to confirm what I already knew, it was definitely BAD, sour should NOT be a flavor that stands out for this sauce. We let him know and he came back out with the 2nd bottle. This one was cold and "GREEN", to our passing it tasted okay. I've definitely had better ones at Inka Grill in Costa Mesa. I felt horrible as my buddy felt bad for recommending this place. Well, it was time to get our food. We ordered the Lomo Saltado and the Chicken Fried Rice. These 2 are staples so if they didn't do these two right, I was not going to be returning. Lomo Saltado - Horrible and the steak slices were chewy. The fries were soggy. The sauce was flavorless. I was hoping the food would make up for the SLOW service and outdated decor. NOPE, the food matched up to its establishment. One thumb down for this one...lets try the Fried Rice. Chicken Fried Rice - If a Peruvian place kills it on their rice, I know their food will be amazing. I took 2 bites and it didn't have the peppery taste that normally jumps at your in a Peruvian Fried Rice dish. There were plenty of chicken be it was so bland. Not even salty...just very plain. I asked for Chilli or Soy Sauce to help me finish it. Totally disappointed...for sure 2 thumbs DOWN!!! I know to each their own opinions. I'm just not sure how this place gets 4 or 5 Stars. Maybe they need to check out other Peruvian places in town or in LA, they will know what I mean. The Peruvian Aji Sauce is so critical, if that isn't good, how can other things be. CUSTOMER SERVICE - Horrible, the owner was slow and looked so confused whenever you ask for anything. VERY SLOW service. DECOR - Ancient and very outdated! Booths were not clean and sticky stains existed. Bugs and Flies were flying around our booths. Not a good sign. FOOD - Not good at all, their staple dishes were definitely not close to any of the other Peruvian restaurants nearby. I was really hoping it was good since my friend recommended it to me. I'm a huge fan of Peruvian food. The GREEN Sauce is a deal maker or breaker...in this case, it broke my opinion. I'm not a fan of this place! I'll go to Costa Mesa, LA and Fountain Valley for Peruvian food but I won't go to Lake Forest! PRICE - On the high side IMO. Our dishes each were $14-$15. Not worth the portion or taste! Started off as a two star review. Only came here because my favorite Peruvian place, Delicias Peruanas, was closed for an emergency. Was instantly sat down however took almost 10 minutes to order our drinks and food. I didn't even really mind the wait but what bothered me was how he asked for our order. He looked at me and asked "okay what do you want?" My sister and I ordered our food and 20 minutes later were served some spectacular looking entrees.
