I wanted to just verify these prices rather then the price that first came up on Google. I paid 40 dollars plus my DMV fees and will get my tags in the mail. I was going to go home and do my fees later but they did it all for me in 10 minutes and Im already holding my reg and burning gas down the highway with nothing left on my todo list. NICE!!! Make sure to thank these guys read more

The service was quick and the prices are competitive. The guys working were nice and really helpful in answering questions getting both smog and registration done. read more

Northtowne Smog - Hours of operation and price - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Sparks, Nevada

We have been coming here for a few years now. We found it after checking prices for smog stations and liked that they also have a veterans discount. We should have done a review before because we keep coming back. We arrived and noticed they moved the smog station to the side of the food mart next to the entrance of the car wash. it used to be located in a small shipping container on the other side of the pumps. We were second in line and were greeted while we waited. They took the necessary information from the vehicle and we pulled in to be tested after the other car left. We waited in the car as the vehicle was tested and we paid. Overall visit, less than 10 minutes. I think the last time we were here it was $15 after a $5 veterans discount. Normal price was $20. This time it $18 with the veterans discount, still a decent price. Echoing others, fast, affordable and friendly. read more

Northtowne Smog - They moved the smog station to the right of the Food Mart - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Sparks, Nevada

I've been here a few times in the past (2015-2017), not recently though. Service was great and wait time was acceptable, its $20 and its close to my house. Reason for 1 star off isn't for the service, price wise GK Smog has the best price for $16 (without the need of coupon) so if you want 5 stars you'll need to be competitive at all level. read more

Went to this particular location to smog my son's new vehicle and the monster (who was a woman) running the smog machine was an absolute nightmare to deal with! From the get go she was beyond rude, nasty really and her awful attitude was completely unwarranted by any stretch of the imagination! Apparently there was a slight possibility of some time left on the registration before expiration and instead of her explaining this to us, she decided instead to deliver all bits of attitude, again with little to no explanation. And simply bc we didn't want to to make a second trip back if there was actually not time left on the registration. She clearly had trouble explaining to this to us, or perhaps just didn't want to tell us the exact amount of time that was left? Or quite possibly could not by law make that known? Idk really? Never the less we were on a time crunch and made it very clear that we did not have the time to come back as the DMV appointment to register was the following morning. We preferred to spend the extra $25 for piece of mind. Apparently she absolutely did not agree with our decision, yet went on to begin the smog process. While smogging the vehicle spoke under her breath words that we couldn't quite comprehend, but clearly was saying repeatedly to herself that we were just plain idiots! The vehicle passed smog and she literally threw the approval sheet of paper at us, as if we were a couple of open garbage cans! At this point my husband lost it after several minutes of being beyond patient with her (when we shouldn't have been to begin with) and gave her a piece of his mind at which time she practically screamed for us to just leave and never come back! The worst experience in a VERY long time! Well I can promise any & all this bit! We will NEVER return to this crummy business unless we would like to be bullied and treated unmeasurably and unnecessarily awful, which will never be the case! Steer very clear of this place, wouldn't recommend this establishment to anyone in their right mind!!! read more

What nice surprise! A tiny hole-in-the-wall place, behind a gas station. In & Out Smog check! LOL There were several others there and the man doing the checks was organized and quick. He even had time for a quick friendly conversation with a young man and no one was left waiting. Pulled in on a whim, on my way to an appointment. I was there a total of 15min. even with two cars ahead of me. Thank you to the guy who works there! read more

First time here as I usually go to a service station that does smog and registration, and I was impressed! The reviews were spot on. This place offers exactly what I want in a smog place: fast, affordable and friendly service. I was surprised there wasn't a line of cars because it's usually busy every time I pass by. Wayne quickly hooked up the vehicle to perform the test and even holding the cable to the OBD port when the machine was unable to get a reading (how's that for service?). In and out in less than 10 minutes (only because my car had a starting issue so Wayne jumped it). Can't beat that! And Wayne was so friendly, what's not to like? I need to get a smog for my daughter's car so I'll be back here. Really wish Wayne offered vehicle registration as well, but for now, I'll just come back here when I need a smog only AND recommend Northtowne Smog to others!! read more

Getting your car smog checked isn't exactly something anyone looks forward to, it's a tedious chore at best. It was that time of year for me and I was a bit wary as last year I got ripped off. previously I've paid $18-$25 to get the service with dmv printout at various places (usually whichever place had no wait and was on my route of running other fun errands). Last year I stopped at a place enroute to work and they charged me $40! He said it was because they sent my smog results to the dmv electronically, saving me the step of having to register my car. not true, I still had to go in to register it, they simply sent in the info. Anyway, I digress. I picked Northtowne smog as I was in this part of town and they seemed available. Nicest guy ever. They have a nice set up with a little station set up on the side of the building and a simple but much welcome canopy and seating for you to sit while your car is being checked. (they also have seating inside, but it's a quick service so they are done by the time you'd walk around and inside. The man servicing my vehicle even cleaned my windows! He was so friendly and quick I wanted to give him a small tip in appreciation but he thanked me and told me to keep my money very politely. They sent in the results electronically and didn't charge an exorbitant fee for the service. I think their normal rate for this is only $20. Great service at a bargain price and friendly service. I think I'll drive out of my way next year too. read more

Was awesome got car smoged and tags paid for in one stop, cant ask for more. Fast friendly service. And playing 80s music loved it. I will be coming back every yr to smog. Hoping that they will be there still. Thank you so much def made my day :) Lisa Ortler read more

Cheap, fast & convenient. Not to mention the guy helping was awesome. I guess I'll be going there every year from now on. $20 bucks? What-a-deal! read more

$20 for smog check while most in Reno area charge $30..very quick service, was there only 5min...while testing they do a free windshield clean!!! Nice people. I highly recommend doing your next smog test here. Doesn't come up in yelp when you search smog test or smog test stations..too bad. By the way, I first went to Jiffy Lube a few blocks from Northtowne Smog..I was going to pay $29.99 for smog test..luckily, they don't do smog check until 10.30am on Saturdays (7/21/2012)..and found this place when I drove by..I'm glad I did. Saved $10 and time. read more

I have been to another "Lube" place twice trying to smog my cars only to be told the machine is down. I have been to Northtowne Smog 3 times and I had no issues at all, in and out in no time at all. I recommend them every single time! Oh and the customer service is one of the best I have seen in NY 40+ years! read more

Best smog shop in Reno, hands down.

Gotta chime in with everyone else. Fast, inexpensive and friendly. I had two cars to smog a few months ago and luckily found this place.

Quick and easy. Man working knew what he was doing and had no problems. Nice drive thru system.

In and out in less than 5 minutes. This place is perfect if you are in a rush as they seem to never get a line cause there isn't some cush office for the guy to waste time in. It's in the parking lot of the gas station in what looks like a storage container. Don't let the visual fool you. Get your vehicle smogged and get back to whatever you have to do that day. $20 and quick, couldn't ask for anything more. read more

Came on my lunch break, great service, and was in and out. Max 5 mins. Even gave me $2 off for mentioning a saw them on Yelp. Will definitely came again. read more

09/28/2018 Would not smog my older car because the VIN number is on a tag inside the door jam and not a plate on the dash. The young kid working the place said I would have to go to DMV and have a VIN plate put on the car. ( Nevada car with title and plates already ).Said he was uncomfortable smogging a car that didn't have a VIN plate on the dash. Time to find a new smog place ....what a joke....someone needs to teach this new generation about something other than new cars. read more

Just pulled up to get my smog. There was a car getting smogged in front of me-next to a handicap space. My girlfriend told me she's been there before, and it's ok to pull up to the handicap space when there's more than one person. This smog shop only has two spaces so I listened and pulled up. I smiled at the female attendant and asked her if I can pull up. She nods her head in disbelief and tells me to pull into the other space. She says "obviously," and I hear her mutter a few negative things under her breath, but pull up as she asks. She was talking to us extremely disrespectful, I need to make this crystal clear. I was telling my girlfriend how upset I was, and I wanted to leave. I was literally shaking. I don't appreciate being talked to like that when I'm giving you my money. The attendant starts yanking on my door handle telling us she needed to open the door. Hesitantly I give her one more chance to be cool. But we felt continually disrespected while we sat there for only about one minute. As she starts our smog it looks like she needed something and goes into the gas station. I was so upset I decided it would be better to leave. They don't deserve my money. As we left she ran down the street and started clapping at us (mocking us) and started berating us. It was like a crazy homeless person was helping me. I don't think I can get my point across enough. The way I was just treated is not ok. Crazy times right now. read more

5 stars for a smog check shop? Yes, because they also had a Deal Chicken special a week or 2 ago, making this car-aholic's necessary evil yearly smog check this morning only $10 . No wait, nice man, fast service! read more

In and out in under three minutes. $20 for my car. Guy was nice. Couldn't ask for more.

Wayne is awesome. Great personality and wonderful service. I've came to this location for my smogs for the past 3 years. I'm always in and out in less than 5 minutes, and smogs are only $20! read more

Want a fast smog check? THIS IS THE PLACE! Drive right up to the smog machine on the side. They great you right outside and hook it up to your vehicle. Quick n' easy. Reasonably priced smog check.

I have had 4 vehicles smoged here & the service is fast with a great price!

Hi, so even though I no longer live in Sparks I always come back to this Smog check because he is fast and efficient. I am, however wondering if he still charges 20 dollars? I'm finding that Smog checks have gone up in price? I will definitely make the drive to this Smog check if his prices are still reasonable... read more

Excellent, quick service, first time last year. Going again in a few days and with the Deal Chicken discount!

I didn't get my smog checked at the time, but my tire was flat. Shredded. They not only helped me try to pump air into that tire, but also changed it for me so that I could get to my dealership to buy a new one. My dad was in the hospital that day, which they didn't know, but that kindness went a long way. I'll be going to them exclusively for my smog checks read more

I went to get my smog done today (1/8/14) and the woman who helped me was absolutely awesome. She had some of the best customer service I've had in a while, and I was only there for 10 minutes. I will definitely be using their services in the future because of her! read more
