Maddie, and Mike were our tour guides. While Sonny was our very chill horse and carriage driver lol. This was our first carriage ride for both of us. Gotta give a special shout out to Sonny (the horses name). Even with idiots blowing us and sirens coming from opposite directions Sonny remained calm. The ambulance had the smarts to turn their sirens off while passing us. I guess all humans don't understand what triggers animals and that's quite disturbing. We took a 15 minute carriage ride through the streets ($45). We saw where JFK was assassinated. The Bank of America Building being one the tallest buildings in Downtown Dallas. Maddie was very knowledgeable about the history of the areas we rode through. The Spaghetti Warehouse was once a very popular restaurant until Covid plagued the area and it eventually went out of business. There are 30 minute, and an hour carriage rides as well. *Be aware the prices are different. 5/5 stars Great, kind, knowledgeable, and overall very people friendly that are employed with NorthStar Carriage Company. Well, in the past few years we've had good experiences with Northstar Carriages. This year, not so much. In early December, I accidentally made reservations at the Deerfield location in my haste to secure an agreeable time for my family and then tried again in Highland Park to ultimately find out we had another conflict. I called Brian to see what I could do to start over and he said just send a credit request via email and he'd credit them both, no problem. So, he credits one of them and not the other. As you can see below, I made several attempts to get it resolved and never heard a word back from him. Just a bad way to conduct business especially in a business dealing with the public. If I could give no stars I would. Never will engage with Northstar again. read more

Wonderful experience!! Something I've wanted to do since I moved to downtown. It was fabulous--we did the 30 min ride near Reunion Tower and through downtown. It was absolutely lovely and the weather was great! My family and I loved it! Tifani and Natalie (the horse) were fabulous! We were so impressed that Natalie drove us with verbal commands. Amazing! We did a carriage ride with them this evening in Deerfield and it was a great experience. Even though we had booked the early slot to keep kids on a sleep schedule we saw beautiful lights and decoration. Our driver Chad had great information and knew a lot about the history and the people who really go all out in this neighborhood. You get to view historical points and also lovely scenes like victory park and house of blues. Your loved one will love the attention as you both sit together enjoying the sights while others wave and see you. I dud this for my soulmste as a surprise who simply LOVE IT! They were a preferred vendor for the Castle at Rockwall. We had to reschedule our wedding from June 2020 to December 2020 due to covid. I contacted them a month in advance to secure the Cinderella carriage. My wife was really looking forward to this. Well . . . after not replying to emails for weeks, then sending out a contract to secure the carriage, we got an email at 4AM on our wedding day with some lame excuse that their trailer had broken an axle and they could not make the commitment. We were so disappointed, but the lack of communication and seeming indifference to our wedding really turned us off. If you're getting married at the Castle at Rockwell, I would recommend choosing a different vendor well in advance of the date. The only plus I can think of is that, despite our offers and efforts to pay in advance, no money was actually exchanged. Sounds like we wouldn't have received a refund, either. read more

Super shocked with the negative reviews because they were absolutely wonderful! Booked the Cinderella carriage ride in highland park for my nieces 2nd birthday (she's a princess who loves horses and Christmas lights haha) . The day of we got notification that the horse for the Cinderella carriage got sick. They gave us 3 options, reschedule for a different day, ride in a different carriage , or go an hour after our scheduled time so they could switch one of the other horses to the carriage we wanted. We chose a different carriage and it ended up being even better. Our driver was super informative, funny and kind. Everyone we interacted with was amazing and it was just the cutest night. I contacted him on at least 2 occasions to complete this reservation. No return contact, or anything. If you do not want to follow through with your offer to set up the reservation, let me know. We enjoyed our carriage ride last night in Plano. It was a nice treat to not wait in line and worth the money. The reason for not 5 star: Only disappointment was that none of the staff, not even the driver who was with our family, wore a mask. They walked right up to my immunocompromised mother in law with out a care that they could spread covid. If it has just been me and my wife I would have spoken up. Ever since we went to San Antonio and did a carriage ride there, my kids have been wanting to "ride on a horse" again. Northstar loads and unloads at the entrance of the Dallas World Aquarium. On Sundays, they are supposed to be there at 1:00. A few weeks ago, we waited for them at 1:00. Called the company to see when they would be out and the guy said 2:00. At 2, it became 5:00. We had disappointed kids that day. Yesterday, called the company and the guy said they would be there at 1:00. They came at 2:00. Anyway, we did a 30 minute ride through Historic West End of Dallas. I enjoyed listening to the history. The route JFK and his lady took when he got shot, which I already knew, but it was still neat to hear. Dealey Plaza and how the window was never closed since that day. The Holocaust museum, the railroad, and the Old Red courthouse. Overall, my kids were happy and that's all that mattered! read more

Literally planned and booked a reservation with Brian High on 4/8/2021. He confirmed and told me he added my reservation to the calendar and my specific pick up location. He also went as far to say he googled the address and gave it to the driver. Fast forward to today , I'm excited to surprise my fiancé with a carriage ride after dinner , I called to make sure everything is a go and his dad said his son DID NOT make the reservation like he said he did and did not add anything to a calendar and it's nothing they can do about it. His words "they dropped the ball." I'm highly upset because I planned for this day almost 2 weeks out and got a CONFIRMATION. Everything about Northstar carriage rides started out pretty good, reservations, carriage set up, etc.. EXCEPT for the actual lights. We reserved the large carriage (up to 20 people)for the Highland Park ride on a Saturday night at 10:30. There were so few houses that were decorated that a few of the streets had as little as one house lit up. We did the Deerfield ride a couple of years and it was much better. If you want to see houses decorated and lit up, don't do the Highland Park ride! read more

Recently a few friends (ladies) visited me here in Fort Worth from Shreveport. All successful, well educated, professional people, all over 50. They were very excited to come for a Ranger game, and spend some time in Sundance Square. They stayed at the Omni Hotel, ate at one of our five star steak houses, visited Billy Bob's and spent $$$$$ shopping. The only mistake they made was flagging down a Northstar Carriage for a "nice" evening ride in the city. They were excited, and began asking questions of the driver. Guest "Are you going to take us to the Stockyards? We want to see Billy Bob's" Driver: "Nope, there ain't nothin' but a bunch of drunks that run the Stockyards and we're not allowed down there". In the course of the "tour" the driver points out a building and says "There's another perfectly good building they ruined"... Guest: "Are there any gay bars around here?" Driver: I ain't goin' down there without my gun"... Guest: "Why would you need your gun?" Driver: I don't like the neighborhood" Guest:"Can you take us to the Omni instead of back to the Worthington, so we don't have to take a cab?" Driver: "That'll be $65" Guest: "That's kind of high, but okay". Driver continues to make negative comments about all the "drunks" in the bars, and the women in skimpy clothing... at that point, (there are four of us in the carriage) I said "just let me out here...My car is around the corner" to my friends I said "go ahead and finish your ride... I don't want to ruin it for you, because this guy is making me mad." So I got out. The next day when we all met up for the Ranger game, the first thing my guests said was "You really missed it! The carriage ride only got worse!" I said "Really? How so?" Guests: "You remember we asked him to take us to the Omni? Well, he took us back to the Worthington, and when we said something about wanting to go to the Omni, the driver said "I'm tired of you bitches, just get out!! You just got a free ride" ...So they took a cab back to their hotel. No one that evening was drunk. Excited? Yes. Drunk? No. No one was obnoxious or rude. For some reason this driver decided he did not like my guests and he was going to let them know about it. Just why, I don't really know for sure, but I have an idea. I called his boss in Dallas, and when he didn't call me back, I called again. He said he has known the driver for five years and didn't believe what I was saying. My reply was "I think it was the question about the gay bars that set him off." He said "No, we do the gay pride parade in Dallas every year" I asked "Does this driver participate in that? His answer was "No". I told him that an apology for the driver's behavior was in order. The boss and owner of the carriage company said we were drunk.... and he would not apologize. Personally, I had nothing to drink that evening, so all of my senses were perfectly intact and aware of what was going on, and NO ONE I was with was "over the limit." I believe this incident was one of blatant discrimination. The carriage driver decided my friends were not his kind of people because they had asked about the gay bars, and if he knew where they were. There is no other logical way to explain his behavior and language. All my guests wanted to do was go for a nice relaxing ride at night in a carriage. Why would they climb in, willing to pay, just to randomly harass a carriage driver? Their experience with the carriage driver was all they talked about the rest of the weekend. Fort Worth is MY City, and I have lived here for over thirty years. I love this town, and am very proud of our Downtown area, and Stockyards. For me the carriage ride was embarrassing. This driver should be an ambassador of good will and promotion for our city, not someone who presents a negative attitude, and treats people who come to Fort Worth with disdain. Is this the professionalism and integrity the owners of Northstar Carriage boasts of on their web site? The carriage company and driver are not from Fort Worth. For me, that right there explains a lot. read more

This company is unprofessional and rude. While operating Christmas lights tours they blocked a main road for over 30 minutes. After waiting 20 minutes behind two carriages next to one another blocking a main road and not saying anything, I politely asked an approaching carriage if they could help move over so the long line of cars could get by. The obnoxious carriage whatever told me to "hold my horses and be patient". Really? You created a safety hazard. Get over yourself. I will be filing a complaint with the city over the safety concerns this company created. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. First off they were over 30 minutes late and we still had to walk around and find them. They ruined the surprise my boyfriend had for our one year anniversary because they weren't where they were suppose to be. We get in the carriage and the driver tells us her boss said she can give us an extra 30-45 minutes if we have time since she was so late, we said okay. 3 minutes into the ride she asks if we mind if she calls one of her coworkers, we didn't know what to say so we just said okay. So we listened to her talk to we coworker for at least 5 minutes. Our ride ended up only being 45 minutes in total even though we paid for 30 and were told we could have the extra time since they were late. Unprofessional and will NEVER be using them again. I scheduled a carriage ride for 10pm for after my wedding reception. The owner told me that I should move my reservation to 10:10pm so the horse would not be waiting for too long and get scared. I moved it to 10:10pm and they arrived at 10:30pm!!! my wedding guests were sitting outside for 20 minutes. I requested a refund and they agreed....but now they are ignoring my attempts to contact them and have no received the refund. We wanted to do something different for our annivesary this year. Called the owner on Friday he was nice and informative. We ventured off to the Market St. area there they were all the carriages lined up and ready to go. It was magical seeing them decorated with their lights to adorn each carriage. We took the hour tour. Had a wonderful young lady named Allison as our carriage driver. "Miss Annie" was our carriage power for the evening. She and Allison did a fabulour job. Nothing like seeing Dallas at night. Allison took us through the historic district, Art district, all around downtown Dallas she gives you narratives about things if you need to know.Such a pretty view to see Dallas at night. We didnt need reservations but during the hoidays they say it gets a lot busier so that may be a good idea. This will be a definite return event for us.
