Worst alarm company ever. They are expensive and you don't get the service you pay for. Equipment is faulty and they never answer the phone or return your call in the queue. I'm about to block my credit card so they no longer receive payment. Speaking of payment, they lock you into a 5 year contract. Screw your contract, NorthStar. It is illegal to charge for services not rendered. I know many friends and ex coworkers who have filed a lawsuit against your company. Don't make me add to the list. You have until Monday to call me to settle this. 8044050005 Jesse read more

This is absolutely the worst alarm company. They told my Mom her contract was up with her existing company and convinced her to install their system. As it turns out her contract was not completed. Her original company took out NorthStar's equipment and reinstalled their own. NorthStar continued to bill my Mom for services she was not getting. My Mom continued to pay and even paid for NorthStar's equipment after we told them they were not providing alarm services and the house had been sold. A year later and they are sending invoices for alarm services that are non existent. read more

Northstar Alarm is nothing but a bunch of crooks. They'll charge you out the wazoo for equipment. And when you pay it off, they wont lower your bill. And if you dont follow service contract cancellation to a T 60 days in advance, they automatically sign you up for another 2 year contract. Northstar is a scam and I would avoid them at all costs. Or you could end up like me, a sucker whos stuck in my second contract with a terrible sheisty thieving company. Also know that they will not ever service anytbing under warranty. Matter of fact, if you need ANY technician service, they will charge you $99. What an absolute joke of a "company". read more

Lied about contract terms. What I signed on his iPad is not the contract they gave me a copy of later. That one they claimed a 5-yr contract. No way in heck. Total lies. Equipment doesn't work. Stopped working the second month. Paying for nothing. Very angry. Have never seen such blatant lying from a service company. Unbelievable. read more

I hate this company. We have tried multiple times to terminate the contract. We called to terminate before the contract date was up and then after the contract expired. They have us sucked into a unreasonable 18 more months. Stay away from this alarm company. read more

Signed a 5 year contract with them and gave notice that we wanted to cancel at the end of the contract. They told us that we had to give them 60 days notice or else we had another 18 months added. I called them twice to tell they that couldn't do that and both times two different women said we were tied into that. I found out that a contract like that is illegal in New Mexico... When I notified NorthStar of that, they said "oh you are correct." I wonder how many New Mexicans aren't aware of that. Then when we had a problem, it took forever to get someone out to fix it so we were without service for approximately 3 weeks. Finally, a tech came out and fixed it and asked my husband to sign that they work was done. My husband was 85 and happy to approve the work. Later we found out that an extension of 5 years was on the work approval that he signed. I'm still trying to get a statement from them on how much we owe and for them to show the individual charges. Bad company with sneaky business practices. Stay away from them. read more

This is the worst company I have EVER dealt with. After 9 years of service, my contract was up, and because it was up for renewal in 45 days, they automatically renewed it for another 18 months because it was less than 60 days before the end of the contract. They refuse to let me out of the contract and say there is nothing they can do. In addition, the alarms have NEVER worked as expected - they go off at all times of day and night, and their repairmen have never been able to fix the issue. Horrible alarm system and even worse customer service. read more

Had our new system installed by Dale, can't say enough good things about him. He was quick and efficient. He answered all of my questions and went out of his way to show me how the system worked both locally and on the app. This was a very professional experience, from Sales by Nick, through Installation, Setup and Operation. The equipment is very user friendly and high quality. The pricing was similar to my previous provider and I now have extra equipment read more

I've been trying for weeks to contact their customer service and I'm put on hold for at least an hour each time before I give up on them. The lady that came by our house and sold us the service stated that we could call her (Jennifer) at any time with any issues we had. Well guess what ...to this day I can't get ahold of her either . She gave us her cell phone number btw so I know she gets the calls . Before we had the equipment installed she would answer our calls no problem ...afterwards she could care less. Another issue I have is that I can't log in to my dvr to review video footage and nobody is able to tell me how to access it . I'm now stuck on a contract with them. Their service is trash. read more

This company is a fraud. Do not get suckered into signing their long term agreements. After being forced to stay with them for 60 months despite my dissatisfaction with their product I was renewed for an additional 18 months without my authorization. I tried to cancel when I was moving and the service rep refused to prorate the month forcing me to pay out my contract period. When asked if I could speak to his manager I was told that he has no supervisor, which is most likely the fundamental problem with this organization. Hands down the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I'll do my best to spread the word in hopes no one else has to deal with this. read more

Don't sign the contract. There is a clause in it stating they will automatically renew the contract for 18 months. They will not call you to let you know they are doing it. Do not go into business with this company. I wish I would have done more research before signing up. They keep you on hold forever when you call, only to keep transferring you. Every time you move, you have to schedule a technician to move your equipment. That concept isn't bad. However, there is a $100 fee each time. Then I learned the equipment is held up by command strips. I am paying $100 for someone to do something I can do myself. In addition, we came home one day to our alarm actively going off. No one call us and the police was never sent to our home. I filed a complaint. There was no follow up or action. I am still waiting. HORRIBLE! read more

IM IN HOUSTON, TEXAS. I WILL BE SEEKING LEGAL REPRESENTATION. WORST ALARM COMPANY EVER. My vehicle was STOLEN this morning. the door camera was at a perfect angle (if it had been recording) to capture the person and numbers on their vehicle. However NATE with NORTHSTAR failed to tell us that after 400 uploads that the camera shuts off. I only found this out once calling tech support at Northstar. the tech guy AT NORTHSTAR said it records 400 uploads then shuts off. that once it shuts off it has to manually be cut back on. Upon talking to KAITLYN in CUSTOMERCARE, she stated that they don't mention the 400 upload issue because rarely people go over 400 so they didn't see the importance. furthermore, she continuously told me she did not know where the uploads go or know anything about the equipment only billing, acct setup, etc. the kicker is I did not have 400 uploads. So, the equipment did not do what it was promised to do. Furthermore, the installation guy(great and professional) or the guy AMIR who sold me the system where unaware of the 400 upload limit. I inquired several times with AMIR and NICK about did the doorbell constantly record, due to the increase in crime in our neighborhood, NICKS response was yes. NICK did not even come back for me to do the video confirmation with their home office to make sure I was explained everything. he never returned. I WOULD GIVE THEM NO STARS IF I COULD. I never leave negative reviews, but I feel like it is necessary. This company has never been honest or reputable. A while ago, they told us we needed to cancel our contract before August 20th. Northstar Alarm - Phone on top(says armed) console on bottom(says not armed) - Security Systems Near Me - Houston, Texas

I have had on and off problems at least 6 months into my contract. I have called NorthStar Security 3 times this week. Monday's call was to cancel my contract because their Skybell and app work maybe half the time. It was then that they told me the only ways I could cancel was to pay off the $3300 I still owe them on my 5 year contract OR I could get someone else to take over my contract. Not in a million years would that happen. So I asked for a supervisor, I waited on hold for at least 15-20 minutes and got hung up on. That brings me to my call this morning. I figured that if I had to be stuck in this contract for another 4 years I might as well get what I want. I called and asked them if I could add onto my contract and get the 2 cameras, that is when I was told no once again. I was told that I can only "upgrade" my contract after 3 years of being with them. I have to stay in my 60 month contract and not make changes until year 3 and can't cancel until year 5. This evenings call was to let them know that I was going to let others know the truth and the "supervisor" offered to get me $500 off of my $3300. I told him that I would uninstall all of their equipment and drop it off where ever they wanted and he told me that my stuff was too old, I signed up on 10/12/18. NorthStar is a trap and a scam. I would rather have no security system than have NorthStar. STAY FAR AWAY! read more

Every company has contracts, just be a smart consumer and ask questions before you sign up. Know what you are getting into and ask questions and you will be happy & satisfied. Our experience with Northstar alarm have been a nightmare. When we first signed up with Northstar we were never told the contract was for 5 years... that is fraud. If you are reading reviews and wondering if should choose them as an alarm company run an don't look back. We have camera items that are not working. We have been paying $85 monthly for 5 years. My husband started calling Northstar beginning in May 2021 asking them when was our contract up. He was told he needed to speak with a Manager and never did. When he called again and spoke to a customer service representative he was told to call back in October when his contract was up. So it is October and he called back he now being told that he needed to cancel in writing 60 days before the contract ended. Now a new contract has started for 18 months because the 5 year contract was not cancelled 60 day before it ended. This is VERY VERY manipulative and deceptive practices. Especially since he has been calling since May 2021 (we have documented proof) and was told to call back in October and when we did to be told this crap. I spoke to Mason who was not helpful at all. He told me there was no one else I could speak to besides him. No supervisors not management no one else could help us. Please do not waste your time or money. I demand for our contract to be canceled when it was supposed to cancel and not to start another 18 month term. We do not want to continue any business with Northstar or be responsible for any bills from this new 18 month contract. We were not aware of any 60 notice needed and was not given incorrect information from your staff. CANCEL OUR CONTRACT WHEN IT FIRST EXPRIED!! read more

Stay away from this company. My system went down during the hurricane and dispite several calls to try to have a tech come to fix it they have completely ignored me after I decided no to extend my contract in order for them to supposedly installing a newer system . Do not sign a contract with these people. Most of all do not allow them to debit your checking account. Guess what they did anyway. The truth is not in this group and you would be a fool if you do business wiyh yhem no matter what they say. William D. Parrott read more

I have only good things to report about Northstar. The installation was smooth and the technician who installed it was very knowledgeable and gave me good tips about overall security. I just feel better knowing that the company that is monitoring our security is a market leader. read more
