I moved to CNY in 2003. We had some really messed up septic issues and I called Northrup because they were close and I'd heard good things. He came out, looked at the problem WITHOUT digging it up... and looked at me and my four teenage boys and said "I could dig it up, to diagnose the problem. That's $75 an hour....Or... You can dig it up yourself, and I can come back tomorrow." He didn't charge me a cent for coming out. Bless that man. I took my sons and I 2 hours to find the opening, but we did it. Dewey came back the next morning , opened up (with me), explained the problem (hard water plus crappy powder soap was equaling a massive build up near the exit into the septic--he even showed me it), and he diagnosed it like an MD: Use better soap. Liquids. It did the trick. How many businesses do you know that actually tell you how to stop your problems? This is the most honest business owner in CNY. I only know this man through having him out to look at my septic. But I was so impressed. A few years later, I had a septic issue on a weekend. I called, and he explained that he and his family were about to go on vacation. I was frantic and told him, "You're the only person I trust with my septic." And that's the truth. He was there at my house at 9am, before he left on vacation. He solved the problem, did not overcharge me, gave good advice... There are some people you should have complete trust in: Your physicians, your counselors, your pastor, your spouse or partner, and let me tell ya... You better trust your septic guy. We are in the process of buying a new home. We used Dewey's company as a third party option to inspect the tank and leech field. The first dye test failed, then they pumped the tank. The second dye test passed (performed by another company). We (the buyers) had suspicions so we offered to pay for a third party company to do an inspection just because of some red flags. Dewey came out and explained everything to me, pointed stuff out (might need a new leech field) etc, then wrote up a nice report with his recommendations on it so we can send it to the lawyers, and let them take care of it. When we move in we will be having his company take care of our future septic needs. He was very professional, down to earth, and straight forward. His price was extremely reasonable, much less then what had been quoted by another company for a septic inspection. Dewey is awesome! read more
