I work from home in the Healthcare field, so if I miss even one day of work it will impact patient care. I have missed 12 hours of work over the past 2 days due to our internet cutting in and out. I realize there was an outage today, but yesterday there was not. Vyve could not figure out why the internet went out yesterday. Due to this, I have experienced severe anxiety both about my income and my job security. It never looks good to a manager when a remote employee claims they can't work that long because they do not have internet. This is unfair to paying customers, especially ones that rely on internet access to do their jobs. Something needs to be done about this. read more

General service delivery isn't very good but the absolute level of service by this company can be observed by a simple test: Call and choose the voicemail options that a new, non-account holding, customer would use and see how fast you get to speak to a customer representativ. Then call and provide an account number and you'll be lucky to get to speak to an account representative in your lifetime. New customers Vyve loves; existing customers can rot as far as they are concerned. Vyve also has a three day minimum for a tech visit for any problems, including outages. One of their service trucks mistakenly disconnected my service instead of the delinquent customer across the street. Yep, they refused to come back and connect my service until three days later. Terrible internet provider. Has no customer support that is worth a %. Only one person can do one job when you call support. Forget about a technician on the weekend for emergency service. They could care less about your needs to do business with their service to work from home. They cannot keep the bandwidth constant for their customers. To prove this there is a cable down in my back yard that has been there for 3 days now. Not just mine, but many others are down the line from me. Constant drop offs and unreliable service, ive worked in the cable industry for a decade and this is by far the worse ive seen. They promise good connection but we get the furthest thing from it. They say price is good, but id rather have quality. We live in an age where internet is staple, we need it for entertainment and work. I lose money everytime the signal drops, and right now the service has been out for hours. And i cant even get ahold of anyone to fix my issue or tell me whats going on. read more

And the cost is just absolutely ridiculous! Just BASIC cable, no big channel packages, phone and internet over $160/month. Unfortunately, we don't have a choice in Lake Lure. If you can possibly get cable/internet somewhere else... do it. This co is terrible, from their touch tone phone prompts to install, to service. Initial hook-up was into a rusty terminal. Took then over a year to bury the bright orange cable in my front lawn. When my next door neighbor was installed they disconnected us. In the past month service was dropped 130 times. yes 130 times in 1 month!!!! Service tech never arrived to fix it (4 hour window!). If I could I would give them a zero out of five. read more

My family has had Internet with Northland for nearly ten years. Not because we enjoy the service, but because Northland has a monopoly in my area and is the only cable-based option that we have. Our Internet is horrible; on a good day, we lose connection a few times and the speeds become sluggish. On a bad day, you can't do a single thing. We've called them many times. Most recently, we called them because our modem-router combo wasn't working well with Wifi. Well, they "fixed" it and everything was great for a day or two, until it went to crap as usual. Well, we then said "screw the combo equipment, we'll buy our own router and modem." So, we did some thorough research and selected a router and a modem. Worked great for a day, until the Internet went to its normal terrible self. We call tech support and they blame the router. The router, you say? So I guess all 3-4 routers we've used, both from Northland and our own purchases, just all happen to be duds. We wouldn't have this God awful Internet service if ANYONE offered anything different in our area. read more

Absolutely the worst tech support ever. Called last Tuesday April the 9th to report my service completely out. I was told at that time it would be Monday the 13th!!!!! Before anyone could come out. In the meantime I completed my own testing here at the house IE installed another modem also hooked modem at the interface box outside. I call back and explained this to the "customer service representative" and they agree this is a line issue. I asked if a line maintenance tech could be dispatched and was assured this would happen. So again I wait all the while my internet service is on then off all week. When you are under stay at home restriction, you stream tv, and are home schooling and conducting business from home this is very inconvenient. So my week passes several calls from northland communications making sure no one in my house has Conrona virus and to tell me I would receive a phone call prior to my tech showing up. Well forward to today Monday April 13th 8:40 my doorbell rings and its my " technician" unannounced complete with cigarette hanging out of his mouth telling me he has checked signals and everything looks good. I went on to ask him if he checked the tap at the line and amplifier inline? He answers he is a residential install tech and is not qualified to do line maintenance. So after 5 hours on hold 2 extremely rude "customer service reps" and then supervisor Kristen " not allowed to give last names" for obvious reasons im told I should have a maintenance tech out today sometime. read more

This message is to express my extreme hate and discontent for Vyve. Northland cable was recently taken over by Vyve. While Northland was not the best consistent speeds atleast it was affordable. When Vyve took over I upgraded to the 500MB and got slow speeds. Of course, there was issues with that. Having to come out to put in a new line. Had to get a new modem. Now like a fool I upgraded to the 1gig. Same problems. Pulled 577mb max. Now the tech comes out and says that it is reading in the 800mbs but the modem is not sending the speeds to my computer that is hard wired in. He suggested that I contact Vyve and get a CNG code added to the account and pay an extra $5 a month and it might would help with the speeds. Are you fucking kidding me? I was going to pay $107 a month for a gig and you want me to pay more just to fucking get what I was supposed to be getting already? Vyve is nothing more than a god damn monopoly who will do their best to drain a person either way they can. Now I have downgraded all the way to the 105mbs for fucking $59 a month. My daughter ordered internet service for her home from Northland Communications in Forest City, NC and it was installed on November 21st. It worked very well for a week. On November 28th it no longer worked so she called their office and was told it wasn't working because it wasn't available in her area. A service technician had installed the service, they'd taken the first month's payment, it worked fairly well for a week, so how is it that it isn't available in her area? I've read other reviews about this company and none of them have been very good. I'd stay away from this company. read more

It's rare I post a complaint to an open forum of this nature. But I've given Northland/Vyve an opportunity to service my account properly and they have failed. As with many other posts I've read regarding this company, I too live in a rural area where this cable provider has a monopoly. I have no choice but to take the poor products/services along with the high prices. For example, I had cable/phone/internet in early 2019 and had to drop the phone off just to reduce my bill back to $170/month. I had a problem with my cable TV earlier this month, called for a technician to visit my home, but they never showed up. After 3 calls later that day to the Vyve call center (in Texas) I was told a technician came by and "serviced the unit from the exterior". Hmmm. No phone call ... no note on my door. The Texas help desk does not have the phone number of technician so they had to call "dispatch" ... but in the end, I was never able to talk to the technician to see if they got lost, came by, or whatever. One of these phone calls revealed that the technician was a sub-contractor. To help smooth things over with me (?) the rep said "you know how those sub-contractors can be". So if they are known to be bad technicians, why are you still paying them. The day came to an end and I never got the problem fixed. The following day, I drove 30 miles to a Northland/Vyve office to return my DVR/Box, explained my concerns, demanded a credit for the outage, and was told I would get a credit on my next bill. Drove home, plugged in the new box and it began working (note: further proving that the so called technician who allegedly visited me could not have fixed my problem by servicing the cables outside my home). I just opened my January bill and ta-dah ... I got a 30$ price increase! And ... you guessed it ... no credit applied for my service outage. I now pay $205.13 for "expanded basic cable and Internet". No digital ... no movies ... no phone. Internet speeds are not what are advertised (and what I pay for). What can I do? Nothing. Northland was bad enough. The merger with Vyve only made a bad situation worse. I can't imagine Vyve's marketing/pricing committee coming to the conclusion that families in the middle of a global Pandemic are ripe for a price increase. I was really hoping Vyve was going to come in an make our service better. Now my only hope is the 5G gets to my rural area so I can stream my TV and use my cell phone hot spot for my laptop connection to the Internet. Use to be that when you opened Webster's Dictionary and look up the term "Big Ugly Cable Company", you use to see Spectrum's logo. Guess who has replaced them? read more
