The first technician that came out was clueless he just made an appearance because he had to. Apparently he ordered a part for us which was never followed up. The year two technician (we had to call to remind them) was great, explained everything made some recommendations and said he would follow up. We called to schedule the service which included the item from the previous year. They had no clue but said for a fee they would send a technician and the window was from 9AM to 5PM to see what we needed. These people just can't deliver on any promises. Avoid them like a plague

I called Medlock and Associates for my project in Mars Hill. We renovated a 1930s rock schoolhouse…read moreand they were the only firm that got back to me. They ran the load to determine the added supports needed to complete the loft apartments in the previous gymnasium. From then on, they are the only firm I call. I'm also an active real estate agent in the area. They provide accurate information to my clients on the homes they are under contract on to help them make the decision whether they want to buy the property or not based on the needed repairs. They also share their list of contractors in the area that can repair any structural issues. Their skillset is invaluable to anyone who comes across a structural issue. I highly recommend to my friends, family and clients.

I was working with a contractor on an issue where the screened in porch on my house was coming away…read morefrom the main house so he looked at it and said that he recommends an engineer to be involved. Sounded good to me and he had an engineer that he has worked with before. He sat up the appointment and I met him and the employee from Medlock who both the contractor and Medlock employee led me to believe that he was an engineer. The Medlock employee took photos and some measurements and the contractor told me that it would be $500.00 then when we were all leaving the contractor and the Medlock employee said it would be $750.00. Then I get a bill where it showed that the person who looked at the house was a Project Manager and the letter had an engineer stamp on it and a hand drawn picture of the deck with what appeared to be supports to take it down. I called the office to inquire why a project manager and not an engineer looked at it and charged me $750.00. The Office Manager said that is the way they do it, send employees out and then they stamp it with an engineer stamp. I questioned had an engineer looked at the property as it was my house with a very serious issue, her reply was that the project manager talked to the engineer. I am new to Asheville but feel like this is very deceptive practice and when I called the Operations Manager she said that they do it all the time. My concern this was a very serious issue with my house and the Operations Manager said that there is a seal on the letter even though the engineer never looked at it. I have never had an serious issue with my house like this before but I do not feel like a 1 paragraph letter with a hand drawing on a serious issue that didn't give me an option to repair or a plan to rebuild.

The tech spent no more than 10 minutes at my house and charged an additional $200+ just to change the fuse, which he claimed was the problem. I was out of town at the time and was told by my dog sitters that the furnace stopped working again 2 days later. I came home and discovered that the tech didn't even bother to put the electrical box covers back on and left clipped wires on the floor. I decided to hire Call Dad AC & Heating for a second opinion and they actually took the time to properly diagnose the issue for a fraction of the price. Turns out it was a much bigger issue than a blown fuse and Mountain Air Mechanical Contractors ripped me off in an effort to be lazy and save time. They also told me they would charge another diagnostic fee if they had to come back, even though they clearly didn't fix the problem.

First off, I am not Adam. I scanned the business card he gave me and attached it to the review…read more Have you ever had the experience of trying to deal with a home network problem by going through your ISP, and, the vendor of whatever other networking equipment you are using? Each of them says that things look good on their end, and you need to contact the "other guy". How about trying to do that on the phone? You live in an area with poor cell signal, and the only way you can have a conversation is to utilize "wifi calling", except - you DON'T HAVE WIFI, so the call is breaking up and you can barely understand each other. The chance of getting a technician from your ISP to pay you a visit is about as likely as winning the lottery. I did a search on Yelp and Adam was the first - got another response from one other vendor who said they couldn't help me - to respond. He said he could come the next day, and it turns out he is located only 15 minutes from my house. I had done some remediation before his arrival and found out that my problem was not due to equipment, but a configuration decision that I had made that gradually disrupted my network (No, the customer is NOT always right). Adam explained everything that had happened, tweaked some settings, and made some suggestions about how I could optimize my setup. He is very knowledgeable about many networking, communication, and security issues. This will lead me to work with him in the future to improve the quality of our cell signal and do some rewiring to improve the performance of our home network. He also has expertise in other areas - it turns out he used to work for the company that services the entry gates into our community and is also extremely well-versed in network security issues. His hourly rate is entirely reasonable, IMHO. Finally, he is a REALLY nice guy. I can't recommend him highly enough.
