Hired this company to come out for a same day appointment and it was an automatic $300 just to diagnose the issue with my furnace. The tech spent no more than 10 minutes at my house and charged an additional $200+ just to change the fuse, which he claimed was the problem. I was out of town at the time and was told by my dog sitters that the furnace stopped working again 2 days later. I came home and discovered that the tech didn't even bother to put the electrical box covers back on and left clipped wires on the floor. I decided to hire Call Dad AC & Heating for a second opinion and they actually took the time to properly diagnose the issue for a fraction of the price. Turns out it was a much bigger issue than a blown fuse and Mountain Air Mechanical Contractors ripped me off in an effort to be lazy and save time. They also told me they would charge another diagnostic fee if they had to come back, even though they clearly didn't fix the problem. read more

We had a service call to bleed a furnace line for one our properties. While this service call was taking place, a neighboring property of ours also had a gas leak for the furnace. The office worked with us to quickly add another service call to handle the leak and got us fixed and ready to go at the same time our gas company was here. We have used this company for several years now. The office always answers the phone, their appointments have a quick turn around time and their quality of service is worth the price. I needed a new thermostat and said I wanted a WIFI capable one when I called. They said they'd grab one and they'd be out shortly. Four hours later they got here and installed the thermostat. I asked which application I needed to install and they responded "It doesn't use an app." They then proceeded to tell me that they were out of the application controllable thermostats. The whole reason why I wanted the new thermostat was so my wife and I could adjust the temperature from the bed without having to get up. They said it would be another 300 to change out the thermostat and it would be a week until the other unit is available. Basically, we wasted 300 bucks. read more

Came to give us a quote for an HVAC system replacement.. #1- Never followed up with a quote- ridiculous! Advised us of work that wasn't necessary based on future quotes. We had two things done at our address. The first was basic maintenance and inspection of our air conditioner. The man they sent out was thorough, efficient and respectful and we were very happy with his work. The price for the service was a bit on the high side, but not by that much. We also had an issue with the ac unit making a lot of noise so we asked that a second person come take a look at it and see what it would cost to fix the problem. The person they sent was rude, condescending and decided that we needed a lot of work to fix the issue. We were quoted over $1500 to fix the issue, presumably because I am a stupid woman over the age of 50. We called another company and they were able to fix it for $100. Buyer beware. read more

As someone who knows really nothing about what to do when i noticed my unit was freezing up. I called Mountain Air Mechanical and spoke with a wonderful lady on the phone who actually listened to what i was saying and immediately got me an appointment. With this heat being unbearable i was really surprised at how fast they came out. because i know they are extremely busy. The man who came to my house was very helpful explained everything so i could understand and answered all my questions i had. My unit was low on freon and he explained what he needed to do and how much it would cost so there was no surprises. I am now back in the cool and fixed, this company is AWESOME!! Its nice to know there are still awesome people out there that you can trust and not take advantage of you. I will be getting them to do maintenance on my unit yearly. Purchased a maintenance contract for two furnaces. After waiting for a month for the visit, they arrive late and the technician cleans out a couple of cobwebs from the flue on our main furnace. He then refuses to perform any further work and claims that I owe $235 for a service call and he will have to return for the maintenance visit. This is the worst example of illogical nonsense I can remember in dealing with a business. If you want a company that takes delight in extending their middle finger to their customer, this is your pick. If you want a reputable company that is competent at what they do, look elsewhere. read more

I give Mountain Home Mechanical. A 3 stars Rating. Mainly because of communication problems. The initial meeting with the salesperson/ estimator was good. The problems started when I had some questions I wanted answered. Before I purchased a Trane heat pump system. I set up a time with the salesperson. At the appointed time I called and got no answer. And did not get any response. Not until 15 hours later did I get a response. And it was that something had come up. And that they could not answer questions at that time. Asked I I could set up a time for another call. I gave a time afterwards that I could be reached. I never got a confirmation from the salesperson. As to the Time he would call. So I called his office to ask what was up. Still never heard from the salesperson until right at the the time I specified. The sales person seemed to be bothered that I had called his office. And told me he had had family issues and family came first. This is true. But business needs to be taken care of too. Either the salesperson or a company representative should have given me an explanation. Long before 15 hours later. This is called customer care. I confirmed from the office the day and time the installation would be. I was given a date and time of 8am. On that day at 8:45 AM. No installers had shown up. So again I called the office. Was told they were on the way. They showed up around 9AM. A courtesy call from the installers or office letting me know they would be late would of been nice. This is called curtsey and customer care Final straw was when the county code inspector showed up the next day after installation. We had a nice note from them. Letting us know to call them. And set up a time that would suit us Later that afternoon I got a call from The salesperson. Asking me how the inspection had gone. I told them that we had not been home when they had come. And that my wife was rescheduling the inspection. To which the salesperson response was. That he had told us about the inspection that day. And that my wife couldn't reschedule. That they had to do it And we would have to be there all that day. Sounded kinda horsey. I have checked my email, texts, and phone calls and had none from the time I signed the contract up until the time the county inspector showed up. So it seems the salesperson mistook that they had informed me. I always reply back to things like this. And people should ask for a reply back as well So that both parties are sure that the information is understood. This is called dotting Is and crossing Ts. I feeling that the installers did a good job installing the system. Baring the fact that the installers left a piece of packing tape in the air handler. Which clogged the condensation drain. And shut the system down. An hour after the start up technician left. Had to get an on call technician to come out and fix the problem. Time will tell if the instal was a great one. read more

They've been to our house countless times because their unit under warranty keeps shutting down. The 1st call they changed a part saying that was the problem and claimed that wasn't under warranty so would have to charge my landlord. Then they came out several more times never fixing the actual problem bc my heat would just kick on on its own and they just abandoned the issue. The last time they claimed my heater was frozen and I need to use my emergency heat (gas). Now I'm supposed to go yet another night with no heat and a child in my home bc they didn't fix it when they came out again today. Its not below freezing this time thankfully but still no heat. It's become redundant having no heat in my rental home due to incompetence. Apparently they don't care that we're cold, I have a child in my home, and my landlord could be held accountable bc my home is considered uninhabitable due to no heat. read more

I have dealt with many HVAC companies over the years and these folks are as good as it gets. I returned home yesterday to an 80 degree home. It was 4:00 PM and they had someone here in 20 minutes, even though they closed at 5:00.. The lady I spoke with on the phone was very nice and professional and told me a few things to try first. The technician was very friendly and had the problem solved in 5 minutes. I would highly recommend Mountain Air to everyone! read more

The Mountain Air technician who came (six days after my call) to service my 4 year-old A/C said it needed coolant and probably had a leak. He explained the cost ($90 for the visit, $160 for coolant), but added that he would check with the unit's manufacturer to see if it was still under warranty. He was unable to find any leak, however, because of what he claimed was a faulty leak detector. He said he'd have to come back another time. The company called later that day to reschedule--but said I'd have to pay $112 up front "because we're having to send someone out a second time." No mention was made of possible warranty coverage.
