Very Unprofessional. I Have called trying to order an appliances hand truck that I saw online. called at 11AM. spoke to a lady I forgot her name. she said they have it on site, I was like, great. do you guys do a delivery? she said yes, it will be additional 20$ and you'll get a delivery today. I agree to that. then she asked, will you come here and pay? ( if I get there and pay, why do I need a delivery? I assume there is some issues with the mind ) I said, NO, can I pay over the phone? she said, no we can't, I ask, there is any other way to pay? she said, give me few min, I will check and call you back in few. 12.15PM. no call back. I called, they transfer me from one person to another. then I heard her on the background, tell him to come here and pay. what a rude unprofessional service. Went yesterday to pickup a cargo carrier wasn't sure it would fit in my car so wasn't going to purchase then one of their employees (an Indian gentleman with a long braid) offered to help he carried it out to my car and made sure it would fit then went inside with me so I could pay for it. He was so polite and accommodating . He help with a smile and went above and beyond to help a customer!!!! One great employee and because of him I will return and highly recommended! This store is horrible ! Two separate occasions have I bought an item from another Northern Tools and take it here and their Tech JORGE finds the dumbest excuse to either not return the item or not repair the item. One of them was a Honda mower that was recalled and could not be repaired. Jorge argued with me for over 30 minutes not wanting to return the item. Keep in mind it was a $1,000 honda. Left and took it to the store in Mckinney and they returned it no problem. This time i bought a stihl weed eater. It was under powered and the screw was stripped to power it. Took it to get repaired since i had bought it a few days ago. JORGE once again told me it could not be repaired because the guard was off and it voided warranty. Jorge will find every excuse in the book to either not repair or not return an item. AVOID THIS STORE AT ALL COSTS! read more

04-15-2023 3pm. We came in for Sthil lawn equipment. The floor attendant was helpful in our selection. The only problem was the display model's manual was lost and needed to be reprinted. We spent over $500 on the equipment and the attendant told the four cashers to print the manual. It wasn't busy and after 20mins of us standing there they started to look for the manual online. 25mins later the told us they were downloading it. 35min later the attendant had to come up and print it off. We were in line to return the equipment. This was out first and last time at northern equipment store. The McDonalds mentality of we have your money and now to wait till we are ready is a horrible business model. read more

Bought an expensive machine. Came without a gun or manual. Had to ask. Later I put oil in the machine and while they did sell me a used machine, it has dirty oil in it. No one told me, you're supposed to drain it first! Then the diesel in it was dirty too. This NT sucks. read more

We have been to this location quite a bit in the past few months. Our most recent visit was to pick up a little trailer for our four wheeler. It was in stock and the gentleman helping us was super nice and apologetic because they were so busy and he was running around trying to help multiple customers. They do offer military discount so be sure to tell the cashier! Our cashier was super sweet and so friendly. We had to pull around back to get the trailer and there was a line of cars waiting to pick up their items. The young man driving the forklift was so nice too! So helpful and we even had another customer help load the trailer! Such a great experience here and we have always had good customer service when we come. We always know what we want so maybe that is why? I did knock off one star for not having enough employees on the floor when we have gone. I recommend this place! read more

Yup, this place has no concept of customer service. I wanted to purchase two Honda EU2200i generators and the sales rep said they only had the display unit and wasn't on display that long. Then they wanted to charge me same price and I asked to knock off some price off of it -- they responded saying the store manager had to approve it. Then I asked where's the manager and he was hiding behind one of the isle listening to our conversation with the cashier and the sales rep. When he heard that we were talking about him he walked over with completely neutral look on his face -- when I asked for discount he responded saying he can't because it's a Honda. I then told him it was open box and a display model -- he kept shaking his head. I told him that I will walk out but then he did not respond and gave me a weird look. I told him so you want to play hardball do you? And again he just said Honda don't allow them to discount it. I walked out and all three people kept looking and did not say anything. Not only are these people always helpful in pointing me in right direction to tool I'm looking for, they have suggested a better tool for job or better tool than the cheaper I was looking at. Yesterday they went above and beyond. I dropped my wallet and didn't even know it. I had been home for 1 hour when I received a call from AAA. They called several credit cards who were no help in contacting me but stayed persistent and contacted AAA who called me. I had a huge amount of cash in wallet and it was all still there. I'm so grateful to the manager who located the wallet and made huge efforts to contact me. read more

About this time last year I purchased a go kart for my son's Christmas present from Northern Tool and Equipment. One of the main reasons that we purchased the go kart from them is due to the fact that they are a relatively big company and they support the products that they sell. I knew that at some point that the go kart we purchased would have a broken part or some other mechanical difficulty. So, the brake drum wears out. I go back to them to buy the part, as planned. Now they look at me like I am crazy. They are claiming the factory that produces the parts has burned down and I am basically out of luck. This is a $20 part but the $1000 go kart is useless without it. I keep saying that they need to make this issue right somehow and they keep giving me the run around. read more

I can see why this place has such a low rating here on Yelp. Years ago this store wasn't so bad, but I guess with the decline of the neighborhood, the businesses decline as well. Northern is known for having "affordable" tools, not necessarily high end anything. Kind of like Harbor Freight... Some great stuff and some really not so great stuff. So, I go to buy a live animal trap that turns out they didn't have in stock. Instead they had the battery operated trap for $30 more. I wasn't trying to spend the way extra money on it, but I needed it so I bought it. Funny thing is at the counter she instantly asked me for my phone number before scanning the product. I figured this was for warranty purposes. Anyway, Got home, and after opening it, it looked like it had already been used and put back in the box, then resold. The trigger mechanism didn't work and it needed to go back. Got back to the store and must have forgotten my receipt at the house. No big deal because they have my phone number on file from when I bought trap, right? Wrong!... I told her to look it up by my phone number and she explained to me they don't do that. I asked her "then why did I give you my number at checkout?" She said that's just so we can send you coupons and specials. I never would have given them my number if I knew they were going to send spam to my cell phone, which by the way I have. In the past few weeks I've been getting calls from Canadian online Pharmacy, some recording saying my business is eligible for a loan, and several texts about online gambling. I can't say for sure this was their doing but it sure is a major coincidence if it's not them. Anyway, I got store credit and proceeded to buy the correct item online. It took over 2 weeks to be shipped to the store of which they didn't call me, I had to call them. I went in to the store and waited for 20 minutes to get my boxes. I'm done doing business at this location unless I absolutely need to go in. The checkout counter is always run by girls that look and act like they're straight out of prison, and the "manager" was a girl that had no idea what she was doing or how to find my packages. Northern has some good stuff, but their customer service is terrible. If I would have known this was going to cost me so much time to get what I needed, I would have gone somewhere else in the beginning. 1 star because of my 3 week inconvenience followed by the worst customer service next to the DMV! read more

I would never recommend going to Northern Tool. Ordered material online. They sent original order to the wrong address. They told me I had to wait until the material was sent back to them in order to re-ship to me. Then they sent it to the wrong address AGAIN! They wanted me to wait again until the package was re-sent to them (again) to attempt to send it back to me (again). This ordeal wasted two months of my life. Horrible and inefficient customer service (online and phone). I never got nasty with them but no one wanted to deal with my case...just bounced around their customer service network. It was pretty surreal how inept their staff behaved. No one stepped up to apologize on messing this up. Again, I do not recommend using Northern Tool. Wow, I was told that service was horible but now I know it is. Went for 4 shelving units. Person who came to help said they would not have then. I told him the the prior day they had five. He repeated, we wont have them. He went to back and came right back out saying we cant get to them until some time the next day. Really! He said yea, there is a pallet in the way. Asked to see MGR, he grumbled and said under his Breath. " you going to be one of those". Wow, manager not much better. My fault because I showed up to buy something they had to lift a finger to get! I'm sitting in the parking lot of NT (Northern Tool). I needed a 'tool' to remove an object I have that has my garbage disposal frozen. I wasn't sure what took I needed but I imagined something similar to a long tweezer would do it. I was headed to Home Depot and a buddy recommend NT. I read the reviews and even though most of them are 'less than favorable' I decided to give them a try. Walking in I was overwhelmed and while no one rushed to ask if I needed help, I saw a NT employee helping another customer. He was Hispanic and so was the customer and they were speaking Spanish and with me not being able to speak Spanish I wondered if I was going to have a problem communicating. How happy was I when he said, "Can I help you sir?" in near perfect English. I explained my problem and what I thought would be the perfect tool. Well he took me directly to the Ultimate perfect tool, a small spring loaded grappler that's long enough to reach the problem and remove it. When I Thanked him we shook hands. The lady that checked me out was equally as friendly and told me if it turned out to not be the right tool to just bring it back and they will find the right one, if not in the store, online. I was in and out in about 10 minutes. A completely enjoyable experience. I will definitely go back!! read more

i wanted to give my grandson some toys for his birthday. The store said the only way to get them was thru the catalog as his birthday is in May. I ordered from the catalog. the toys came and were disappointing. I contacted to the store to see about returning them as i had spent $7.49 shipping, which included a very heavy unwanted catalog. The garland store said i would have to ship them back at my expense. So i did and wrote a blistering letter to the company. No response. I just talked to billing again and they gave me credit for my $7.49 shipping, but were immovable on my postal receipt for shipping the toys back. It is much easier to go to Lowe's or Home Depot than to have to contend with Northern Tool. read more

Just paid a visit here and was looking for a generator for my travel travel. Dave was very helpful in the selection and answered all my questions like a pro. Although I had an issue with one of the two I bought. Mod Ricky and service tech Joe did all the right things in my opinion to give me the best customer service that I have received in a long time. It's as if the employees are told NOT to assist customers they will intentionally try to avoid you and you will feel as though you got in their way upon asking for help. Bought a $300 fan and a week later I go out to my warehouse it's flipped over has one blade folded over and the other blades opposite blades bent. Nothing hit it, but I found it on it's face. Worst store and company. Placed an order on 1/11. Called store on 1/21 and they said it would be there that day and I could pick up after 3:00pm. Drove 15 miles to pickup on 1/22 and they said it was sitting on a pallet in Arlington. So my time was wasted. Talked to the Store Manager and asked for a number to file a complaint for wasting my time and she also told me I could not cancel the order until the order came in. She gives me the 800-222-5381 number which is customer service. They transferred me to corporate on a different # and they gave me a district sales manager's cell #. His name is same and the phone #972-906-7296 just rings busy. Totally frustrated with them. I called Northern and explained I had bought a paint gun that was defective but I didn't have the receipt with me and asked if I could exchange it for a new one. The lady said she could look it up if I bought it on credit card which I did. After driving 40 miles each way I was met with I could care less attitude from their employees. They couldn't find the receipt on their computer by the credit card or phone number. They kept asking when I bought it and I really don't remember. The lady finally told me to go see if they had one like it which they did. When I brought it to the counter the guy at the next register starts questioning me (with attitude). He said if the paint gun is over 3 months old they were out $64.00 and positively couldn't exchange it without the receipt. If that's store policy I'm ok with it but I've exchanged at other stores without the 5th degree (lowes home improvement) besides the gun is defective shouldn't they want to make it right and is a loyal customer worth only $64.00? I had intended to buy some more tools while there but I just took the defective paint gun and left the new one on the counter and walked out. This is the Raleigh NC Newbern Avenue store. read more
