Our Northampton friends led us to Northampton Brewing Company on New Year's Eve, it's one of their favorite restaurants in town. The atmosphere was interesting; it seemed to cater to both the drinking crowd as well as families, and it did this well. Our group of 5 adults, 1 child, and 1 toddler was led to the dining room. The fireplace was lit, there were festive balloons and candles in place for the celebratory evening. There is an outdoor, upstairs patio which I imagine is amazing in the warmer months. The beer selection was good, and since it's a brewery, we had to try a few. I tried Blue Boots IPA and Group Hug IPA, with the former being my preference. We had calamari for an app, no complaints. There were options on the menu to suit anyone, and we each ordered something different. My chicken club was excellent, and I loved the option of chips & salsa as a side. The servers were polite and attentive. And as a New Year's Eve bonus, we were able to see the First Night fireworks right from our seat! I would recommend Northampton Brewery for families, groups, date night, or just for an after work drink! read more

On a lovely Sunday morning I decided to take a drive to Northampton, and shop and have lunch. I safely arrived in the delightful town of you, guessed it Northampton. After walking I thought that lunch would be a good idea. It was such a sunny day that I went to the deck of the Northampton Brewery. Gorgeous sunny spot, then Maddie introduced herself, and I ordered a glass of chardonnay. I am sitting there and thinking that our summer is beginning to wane, although this perfect day never disclosed this information. Maddie arrived with the glass of wine in hand, my nectar of the Gods. I ordered the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. It didn't disappoint. In addition, they staff were very welcoming Ameena and Morgan, at the desk made me feel like a welcome guest, just another added touch I greatly appreciate. All in all, an absolutely great day that checked every box. Now the piece de resistance. For me, Maddie is the gold standard in waitressing. So pleasant and efficient. What a joy. I felt as if she was my sweet granddaughter. I gave her a very generous tip, which she so richly deserved. Thank you so much Maddie. Nachos were just chips with cheap cheese, less than 1ounce of hamburger. Not worth buying

We've been going to the brewery for over 20 years. We've had some really good meals and some just ok meals but last night we experienced such horrendous service that we will never be back. Brought our kids for dinner and waited and waited and waited for our food after we ordered. Granted it's a Friday evening but we saw 4 tables place orders after us and get their food before us. At this point it became clear that our order was never put in to the kitchen when we placed the order. Our waitress ignored us the entire time we were waiting. We were never offered more drinks or something to snack on as it got later and later. Mind you we are there with kids who are starving at this point. When we finally got our food I complained about the wait and was asked if I wanted to speak to the manager, so I said yes. This is where it gets really bad. The manager comes over and claims that the delay was because we had a food allergy in our party. Something about the allergy needing to be communicated through a manager which led to it taking much longer? This of course makes no sense if you're a big established restaurant you should be able to handle an order with a food allergy without an issue especially since nothing in our order contained the allergen to begin with. Adding insult to injury this excuse about the allergy resulting in the delay was stated in front of the child in our party with the food allergy which made him feel bad. We've been eating out for 12 years with a food allergy in our parry and never have we experienced anything like this. If you have food allergies, or you just want decent service, stay away. read more

Came here with two friends after work. This place can get pretty packed and seems to be quite a popular spot for the local college students. They have some open seating you can try to snag to skip the line if you're lucky. I starved myself before going here so ordered the buffalo wings appetizer for myself and a burger. The burger I got was the Green Mountain Burger with avocado. I asked for a fried egg as well but apparently they don't do that. What kind of self-respective burger joint doesn't do a fried egg?? I mean seriously. Do you have eggs and a grill? How hard can it be. I was pretty unimpressed when they wouldn't take the request. I'm not one to make special requests but it was a little shocking and off-putting. Buffalo wings were good. They were crispy and sauced just enough to stay crispy while still having a lot of that Tabasco, tangy flavor. The wings were a good size as well. Not small and not huge. The burger was a burger. The patty was a little on the small side but it at least wasn't dry. The avocado served were slices which was good but a little less than I would've liked-not frugal though. Bacon on the burger was generous though and fried quite crispy. The mushrooms were nicely sauteed and also generous. My friends got some beers as well and said their selection here was quite good. I'm not much of a beer drinker myself so I can't really comment. Food was fine. The place can get a bit loud, but it's as expected at a brewery. I would honestly pass on this place and find a better joint for food. If you're looking for beer though you could probably do a lot worse 8 times out of 10. read more

Took a good friend to Northampton Brewery on an absolute beautiful day to celebrate a special birthday. They have a superb outdoor deck on the second floor that is a great place for a meal. Unfortunately it was an hour wait. We chose to eat indoors which was nicely spaced. After ordering two of the house made beers we started out with roasted Brussel sprouts with a slightly spicy dipping sauce. Great app to share! They were delicious. Nice and crispy on the outside with a great char and tender and savory on the inside. For our mains my friend chose a house made pizza that was quite large with plenty of fresh toppings. I ordered a southwestern chicken salad. Nice bed of fresh greens with roasted red pepper, corn, black beans, grilled chicken and some lightly fried flour tortillas for the perfect amount of crunch. The dressing was a nice cilantro vinaigrette that complimented the salad perfectly. The staff was great. I had a great view of the food leaving the kitchen and everything looked superb. If your looking for somewhere to have a casual bite to eat and try a few local beers with a great atmosphere may I suggest the brewery. read more

Unfortunately a lovely Sunday post-wedding gathering was made awkward when the manager spoke rudely to family members and friends. Better staff communication and a customer-centered attitude is necessary. I really like the Brewery. I would be happy to spend any amount of time here. The Brewery has been in Northampton a long time and I hope it is there for years to come. I especially like the patio upstairs for enjoying some good beer, good friends and food. I really looked forward to them opening it back up this year! It is closed in winter... I am going to go with a 4 star rating for the Brewery. That rating is derived from a 5 for the beer, a 4 for the service, a 4 for the atmosphere and a 3 1/2 or 4 for the food. The food is decent, I have never had anything I did not like, there are some things that are almost very good, but I have never been blown away by anything on the menu. The beer - well that has always been perfect. Keep on brewing Brewery! The service is always reliable here too. Service dips a bit to average at peak times but the servers are busting butt at those times. The Brewery can get busy (because it's good). For the atmosphere, again... the patio upstairs is really sweet. The inside is OK, really OK++, but it can get loud. In summary, I would love it if some really imaginative chef started to work here. I have been here quite often over the years, ranging from my years as a college student in the Pioneer Valley to present. I've had many of the items on the menu, and they also have an impressive cocktail selection list for a brewery. Some of my favorite things: - catfish bites: they always come out super piping hot, served with tartar sauce and chipotle mayo - buffalo chicken quesadillas: with red onions and blue cheese crumbles, and served with salsa and green sauce. One of my favorite things to get when I want a lighter meal and I'm with a friend - around the world cocktail: fruity and strong - any of the burgers: this last visit I ordered the blackened blue burger that comes with a blackened patty, blue cheese dressing, lto, caramelized onions. They also have a variety of sandwiches...the bf ordered the haddock sandwich and he liked it. I've ordered the chili, fish and chips, the volcano burger...it goes on. I've never had their pizzas so I should try them sometime...but overall this is a great low key place for dinner in Northampton when you don't want to spend too much but still want a pleasant dining experience. read more

Long standing spot in downtown NOHO and One of the original breweries in the area they offer a full menu of lunch and dinner foods. The food was decent, I had a burger with Cajun fries. Good variety of drinks from their homemade beers which I was told were great to ciders, wine and some other varieties. Service was very friendly and quick. It's a bit small since they're currently renovating and plan to finish in the Spring but it's two floors offer a decent amount of seating for groups. patio on the second floor would be nice in the spring or summer after coming off the bike path. would definitely go back for drinks and casual bites in the future. read more

I've been coming here on an off since the late 1980's when they opened. It's been neat to see the transition over the years. And really cool that an establishment can be around for so long. We had a very good dinner late time we came here on a Thursday evening. The beer they brew is very good. I went with sandwich and my wife a salad. Years ago, they had more of a pub food vibe; think burgers and your traditional sandwiches. Now they have some really good offerings; dare I say artisan? But without being all hipster arrogant about it. Our meals were very very good! Service was spot on. Our server was very friendly, accommodating and spot on with her recommendations on beer and meals. Parking here is pretty easy if you come for dinner/later dinner. We use the lot right across the street. For our travels, the restaurant. is easy to get to from 91 and just about the perfect point to stop for a bite. read more

Across the board, from service to beer to food to atmosphere- everything was equally mediocre and borderline bad. I'm fairly certain the "grilled chicken" on my sandwich came out of a bag (with the rest of the salad). Great experience! This was my first visit to the Northampton Brewery and we had a blast! We chose this venue for a family birthday party, and their vegan options...I had Crunchy Thai Salad and it was fresh and delicous (and filliing!) Also had a really nice cuppa clam chowder, excellent. My glass of beer was great--if I wasn't driving I would've sampled more :) Nothing better than "homemade beer" at the place where you're drinking it. Nice selection, too. But...the best part of our lunch was the service. Jess was possibly the best server ever! On a very busy Sunday afternoon she was consistently courteous, professional and patient with our large crowd--and played along with our stupid jokes:) (my brother's jokes were stupid, mine were actually funny. Just sayin') All the employees we saw were on the ball and kept things moving...kudos to the entire crew! Thanks for a great afternoon--hope to visit again soon! read more
